Numerous BSOD's (all Crash Dumps)?
Jul 30, 2011Since I bought a new phitronics motherboard, a core i5 processor and 8 gigs DDR3 ram, I've had over nine thousand BSOD's, each with a different error at completely unrelated times.

View 1 RepliesI am continually having BSOD on my old p4 machine. I have installed BlueScreenView and SIW, and have come up with quite a few error codes and an above average cpu temp (I think).

I have had four BSODs recently, two with error code 0xA and the two older crash dumps occurred on system sleep/resume. I do not know much about what caused the first two, they seemed to happen when I put my laptop to sleep with very low battery but haven't happened since because I've been careful to watch the battery a bit better. The third occurred while streaming a .mkv file to my PS3 with PS3 Media Server. It was about an hour into streaming when the BSOD occurred. My video card drivers were old at the time, so I upgraded them trying to fix it but obviously I haven't fixed it yet.
I also ran Memtest86+ which could find no memory errors. The most recent BSOD occurred while I was transferring some files with Filezilla. I also had Chrome open with a few tabs, but the laptop was not excessively hot or anything. The transfer had been running for about 10 minutes when the crash happened. I have attached the results of running the jcgriff2 BSOD Dump & System File collection app and system health report. More than anything, I'm worried about the most recent 2 BSODs.
The system is:
Windows 7 Professional x64
MSDNAA edition
Original OS installed was Windows Vista
Windows 7 was installed ~1.5-2 years ago
Model: Acer Aspire 6930-6942

For a couple of days now I've been getting emergency memory dumps at literally random times. I could be doing a game, or searching the internet, or just typing in a notepad document. I enclosed the latest minidump.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo i upgraded my motherboard/chip a month or so ago and everything seemed to be working great. The part that worried me was when I swapped out the Mobo/chip,I didnt do a clean install because i had no way to back up any information. (there was really nothing important to back up besides 20gb of music and my saved game files). So what I did was after the swap, I put in the reinstallation disc, chose custom options, installed a custom version of windows and copied over my User folder from the "windows.old" file in to the new User folder. Something didn't feel right, despite ecerything working jsut fine, so I made this post a while back:

Now, last night, I finally recieved my 32GB flash drive in the mail so I can do everything the correct way. I copied my User file over to the flash drive and found a guide on-line with screenshots on how to correctly do a clean install. 1 hour later I had a new version of Windows on my HDD and alomst instantly I started to have BSODs, one after another!!
Most, if not all BSODs had the 0x00000124 code. After doing a simple google search, I found that this is a vague hardware issue Yes, I OC'd my cpu. Its a i7 2600k. Why wouldn't I? NO, I didn't revert my mobo to the default settings before doing the clean install. Can this be part of the issue?
Random thoughts/information:
-After the clean install, I used the mobo disc to install drivers
-After the clean install, I used the EVGA disc to install drivers, as well as went to their website to get the lastest (i got the driver dated 2/21/2012)
-I use a wireless mouse and wireless keyboards (logitech) and the dongles were left in while doing the clean install
-My HDD is 1 TB in capacity. For some reason it says only 931GB in the control panel. (this is big concern, because before I did the mobo swap/custom install, i could have sworn it said 1024GB
-Am I looking at needing to wipe the drive entirely? Using DBAN or something rather than just a clean install?
henever I play games (diablo, amnesia dark descent) my computer will crash after awhile. Sometimes it takes over an hour, other times in 5 mins. View 1 Replies View RelatedI've had three BSOD's in three days now all while playing either Skyrim and Dead Island. I have the three individual crash dumps attached. The video card I am using is new to the system and has had its drivers updated to Nvidia's latest (not those from the manufacturer's homepage). My guess is that I'm either having some kind of conflict with drivers here or that my PSU is inadequate but without being able to decipher the information in the dumps I can't tell. BSOD's are not my specialty at all but I don't want to simply ignore this.

I just bought two identical Asus Desktop computers. The first one works fine. On the second computer, when I login into Windows, I receive a BSOD (that happens right after I enter the login password). It happened on my very first startup attempt so I did not install anything. (I only managed to select my language and create a user in the Windows setup process). I tried uninstalling the trial version of TrendMicro but it did not solve the problem.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently got into ripping Blu-ray movies and encoding them. However I have recently had a few blue screens with restarts. I use MakeMKV and it usually runs fine and doesn't give my problems. However, I have had problems encoding the MKV files with Handbrake v0.9.5. Here are my system specs:
Windows 7 64-bit Pro SP1
Intel Core i5-2500K (overclocked to 4 GHz)
8GB Corsair Vengeance RAM (Model CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B)
ASRock Pro3 Gen3 Mobo (latest BIOS update 2.30)
Mushkin Chronos 120GB SSD
Seagate Barracuda 1TB HD
Nvidia GTX 560TI graphics card (slightly overclocked, can't remember speed)
Cooler Master Hyper 212+ CPU cooler
The case also has plenty of fans (7 to be exact). 2 intake fans in the front, 1 intake in the side, 1 intake on the front of the cooler, 1 outtake on the rear of the cooler, and 2 outtake on the back and top. So the tower is staying cool. I'm running AXTU Hardware Monitor during the encoding and temps are staying steady around 50C, which I've heard are normal. The encoding is about 50% now and so far no crashes or spikes in temperature.I thought the memory may be the culprit and I ran MemTest86. It returned one error after a few hours of running. I have not taken the RAM out to test each module or clean the slots. The timing is set at 9-9-9-24 and I dialed down the speed to 1333 from 1600.
i was playing a game in google chrome and also had a Internet video open in another tab. suddenly my screen went black, windows aero effects were off for a few seconds, then they went back up. white bars started to appear randomly on the screen, an error popped up that the video driver had crashed. after a couple of seconds it looked like it was getting back but then the screen went black again and the bsod appeared.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWell this time it isn't a hardware problem. Like I said, I've been starting to get random, yes completely random, nvidia driver crashes. My screen will flash a few times and eventually just BSOD. Basically I've tried reinstalling drivers and rolling back drivers but the problem persists. I installed vista on a separate partition thinking there was some kind of weird conflict and whadya know, Vista, of all things!!, works perfectly.
That's how I know it's software. So my question to you guys is, is there anyway for me to fix this without reinstalling 7? I have a lot of data on there and it would be a major hassle for me.
Secondly, is there any way to reinstall 7 but to keep all of my settings and files? Like literally just replacing the OS files.
If there isn't I guess I just have to face the music and copy everything to the other partition and then copy it back ..
Over the last 3 or so days my computer has begun crashing and giving me a BSOD fairly frequently, ive downloaded and installed alot of largish games recently as i had access to a download speed of 10MB/s so i took full advantage of it.
