Video File Only Plays Audio?
Oct 31, 2012I have a desktop PC and a laptop and I edited a video and put it on a flash drive. When I play it on my laptop, only audio plays. The file is 258mb but the flash drive has 408mb free, so it's not a memory issue or anything like that. I have no idea what is going on. Both PC's are windows 7.

Sep 1, 2012After playing ESV Skyrim for a bit, i put it into hibernation mode accidentaly, by shutting down my laptop. As soon as i loaded it back up again, no audio played. When i go on to audio mixer it either crashes and says theres a problem, or i move it to turn the volume up, and it doesn't make a sound!

But there is only one thing that is reproducible: When both my audio driver and my network driver are enabled, and a sound is played, the sound infinitely stutters and windows totally freezes. (There is no BSOD, the screen and cursor just remain frozen). If either device/driver is enabled independently, the computer seems to work.

WMC Plays TV Audio But No Video Display (black Screen)
Mar 7, 2012I have a problem playing live TV using Windows Media Player. I can select different TV channels without a problem. I can hear the audio clearly. However, i can not watch anything as it displays a black screen. I originally used WinTV (version 7, with the newest updated driver and software) and works fine. For video card, I have a GTX260 with the latest version (295.73) installed. I've tried different versions of driver (259.xx to 285.xx) to no avail. When I tried setting up the TV tuner it detects the tuner as Analog Cable (tuner 1) which I assume is the WinTV tuner.

Aug 6, 2009I have a weird problem where I can click on the play icons on this page Sermons - East Liberty Presbyterian Church under "hear the sermon" yet the same page in IE8 doesn't do anything when I click, even though the cursor turns into the little hand icon.
I have flash 10,0,32,18 installed in both browsers, yet IE refuses to play (nor in compatibility mode). Can anyone else duplicate this problem?
I can play other types of audio in IE without issue.
Computer Randomly Plays/pauses Audio/video Files?
Apr 17, 2011So I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, and my files randomly play or pause, whether it's a song, or a movie or a TV show. Sometimes it goes for hours not giving me problems, but then at some point randomly pauses and continues, either at like half second intervals, few seconds, or even like 20 seconds after it pauses, it randomly plays again.
I play them off my hard drive and off my external, it's not my external that's the problem I don't think. I'm thinking maybe my wireless adapter is a problem? I don't know.
If I downloaded HijackThis and gave you guys or the guys there a log, would they be able to identify what's causing this, or would it just show as me clicking pause and play, because it does it by itself...
I don't have a virus, I didn't access the internet for more than a few days and I didn't go on any malicious sites, I have AV, but the wireless isn't even on and it's a new build, I know I don't have a virus.
Using Headset - Everyone Can Hear Computer Audio When Transmitted
Sep 19, 2012Using my headset when I talk on Skype/Ventrillo/Mumble, when I transmit, everyone can hear my computers audio. This isn't the mic picking up bleed from the headphones, they can actually hear everything I hear very clearly, whether its in game sounds or music. I have almost narrowed this down to either my Motherboard, or Windows 7.
Hardware info:
Motherboard : ASUS M4A79XTD EVO
OS - Windows 7 Ultimate 64
Soundcard - Creative Xi-Fi Extreme
Headset : Razor Carcharias
What I have tried:
- Uninstalled all Creative software, removed card from computer and activated on board sound instead.
- Activated both sound cards, plugged in the headphones into the X-Fi card, and the Mic into the on board.
- Made sure I have the latest drivers installed for both Xi-Fi and on board (creative driver is pretty ancient)
- Used a completely separate microphone not attached to the headset.
- Made sure all recording devices are switched off except the Mic.
- Tried every kind of input and output volume controls, adjusting these does not seem to make a difference.
- Made sure Stereo Mix is disabled (this option was only available when using the on board audio, not seeing this option for the Xi-Fi card)
- Listen to device disabled.
I've also tried 2 other headsets and issue still persists. Is there something I can do within Windows 7 to disable this from happening?

After installation, the sound driver (Realtek HD Audio) is automatically detected and it works in a very riddiculous way:- In the Sound Setting --> Playback tab --> There're TWO speakers, both are High definition audio device and look exactly the same. Pinnacle USB TV Tuner
Oct 26, 2009I installed this on the weekend on Windows 7. "Works" fine...but it only finds the SBS channels....no Channels 2, 7, 9, 10.
THe SBS channels (incl the HD) work fine, no 'buffering', no freezing, and I was able to record a show (Rockwiz) on Sat night, but no other channels sort of bugs me....
Rescan using Windows Media Centre didnt fix issue. Also, now that I have used WMC, the actual Pinnacle rescan doesn't work at all. I get "Error" next to the USB device inside the Pinnacle Rescan window.
DVD Disc Created On Windows 7 Only Plays On XP?
Dec 14, 2011I have Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64bit. I recently burnt some files to dvd disc on my pc and they played back fine on mine and a Vista pc.
However, now if I burn files to a dvd disc using any program or Windows Explorer drag/drop the pc does not recognise the disc when ejected and then re-inserted, it just does nothing if I click on the Dvd drive. It doesn't argue about inserting a disc or an error on playback, its just as if the drive is inaccessible, not there. The burnt video files play fine from disc before ejection.
However, if I then insert that disc into my old Vista Home Premium SP2 32bit machine, everything is hunky dorey fine, disc is readable and prompts to auto play cideo files. I have no issue with it. Put it back into Windows 7 and again nothing.
So, the dvd disc is created in Windows 7, plays ok until ejected and then will only play on my old Vista Home Premium machine. I thought maybe session wasn't closed but as far as can see it is.
Most perplexed! I burnt the files ot dvd to sent to a friend who has Vista but has also tried a Windows 7 laptop so am completely stumped. This process worked fine just mere weeks ago for us, I am doing nothing different.
My devices show no sign of problems. Normal shop bought DVD plays on my pc fine so I know the drive is good!
Sound Plays Through Speakers When Headphones
Oct 28, 2009Strange problem! I have some sounds that play through my speakers when headphones are plugged in. For example, if I run Skype, the Skype will play through the headphones (properly), but iTunes will play through speakers, as will anything else.
This also happens when playing Borderlands - I have to unplug and replug headphones to get it to go back!
What gives? How to fix this? I have IDT HDA as my sound card. Windows forced me to install NVIDIA HDA as well, so I have 2 sound drivers - NVIDIA HDA and IDT HDA AUDIO CODEC.

Feb 9, 2009I hope I make sense in this post, it's been a long night of working on an upgrade install (Vista 32 to Windows 7 Beta)... now I have discovered that the whole point I did it (to get QAM working in MCE) was a waste.In Vista 32 MCE, the 801e stick is detected (after installing MCE drivers as well as Vista drivers), and the analog portion works in MCE (but no digital, QAM, clearQAM, etc).
After reading up, I found that supposedly, Windows 7 MCE would support QAM straight away, however this is simply not the case.I performed an upgrade install to Windows 7... got the ATI card to work (finally)...
Then after uninstalling/unplugging the 801e and plugging it back in, Windows 7 did find it again, and did install some sort of driver automatically from Windows Update. However in MCE, it does nothing. Even starting from scratch in MCE Setup, it goes through the motions but finds no tuners...
Ultimately the whole reason I decided to experiment with Windows 7 was to tune in to (and record) QAM and clearQAM HD channels over cable... now I can't even get MCE to do analog. It doesn't detect ANY tuner, even though the driver is installed via Windows Update.
Cant Install Pinnacle 14 On Windows 7
Aug 2, 2011Inserted the disc and started, entered the license numbar and selected language. The installation started but when the green bar was at approx. 70% installation stopped. No messages.I aborted after 10 minutes and removed and inserted the disc again to restart the procedure. But, the PC does not read the disc! I cannot look at the files on the disc with Explorer either! All other discs behave as usual.I tried the same installation on an XP-PC and the result is the same. I cannot remove any half-installed programs, since they are not visible. I have rebooted the PC's several times, repeated the procedure with Panda virus protection off..
