Feb 5, 2013I have a Toshiba C655-S5540 laptop running Windows 7 and gmail. When I try to link to an external link from my email, or from a website, all I get is an empty link.

Feb 5, 2013I am running Windows 7 and gmail on a Toshiba C655-S5540 Laptop. When I log on to a page and try to link to an external link, or try to link to an external link off my email, all I get is an empty link.

Jan 5, 2010I'm currently working with a laptop running a new copy of Windows 7 Professional (not the one in my system specs). Mozilla Firefox is the default browser, and for some reason, I can't get any links I click on in external programs to open. I click on a link in Outlook, Messenger, or any other program, and the focus switches off of that program, but nothing else happens. Firefox is working just fine otherwise. Any ideas or suggestions?

Aug 25, 2011Not too good on computers .When I open an external link such as Tech Guy my tool bar and favourites are above with the Tech Guy link which is open below. When I post my external links on a public thread and open up my own thread posted ,it shows the external link yet again below my toolbar and favourites I always understood when you open an external link it opens in its own page. I have windows 7 on my laptop and desk top and both are showing the toolbar and favourites above as stated with external links. They both share a the same Reuter. I dont usually have the desktop and laptop swithched on at the same time. When I open a favourite link on my toolbar, it does not open into a separate page and yet again the toolbar stays above and the favourite link is open below. Is this normal with windows 7 or how can I ammend to have a separate page with external links.

Dec 19, 2011I have the wireless adapter working fine, well it was working fine. The strength of the connection was only 2 bars for some reason as of late. I have other computers and they're all fine. So I assume maybe I can fix it by installing the drivers for it. The moment I install it the computer stops recognizing that I even have the wireless card hooked into my mother board! Did the driver installation break it? Because even it when it was supposedly done installing it claimed that I needed to actually plug the thing in! Even though it was working fine a minute ago. I've tried running the program but it wont even acknowledge my clicking. I tried unplugging and plugging the hardware in and that didn't work, I even changed its slots. I don't know what to do short of just reloading windows on it and skipping every using the driver cd.

Oct 28, 2012New external HDD won't show in "Computer". I Have searched a lot, but only find comments directing me to Disk management and Device manager. The Ext. HD is not showing there either. Power light is on. This is a Lacie 2 TB Minimus USB 3.0 External Hard Drive [URL] No "Doorbell" sound when I plug in or un plug the USB connector. The LaC i.e., troubleshooting page tells me to go to device manager, but like l said, it's not showing there either.
Plus, it seems to have knocked out several of my USB ports, and I had the warning flag next to several of them in device manager ,but I was able to get them back by right clicking on each line one at a time, Un installing, and right clicking on the heading for the group, and selected "scan for hardware change". Then in the tray, I saw Driver was installed, or device is ready, something like that. All the ports seem to be working now, and the yellow flags are gone.
I did then try the External drive again, but it is still not working. I also installed desktop manager, but it's telling me to plug in my external drive, and then to re start my device. And if I start Desktop Manager it says, "No LaCie Desktop compliant device found." So I have another computer that shares this monitor,so I shut this one down, and hooked up my usb keyboard and mouse to the other older desktop system running XP, and the older computer does recognize this external hard drive.
It is in My computer on the older XP system/computer. So I shut that one down and started this one, and it does not show up on this computer, but then I noticed my keyboard would not work. Had to switch the keyboard USB ports to the other front USB port. And I had the yellow flags back in device manager again. Had to un-install again and let the system re install (selecting "scan for hardware change). Windows 7 Home premium, 64 Bit, Compaq Desktop, model 2010.
New Computer Will Not Allow To Install Different OS On External HD
Dec 13, 2012I have just replaced my broken HP DV5 laptop with a new Samsung NP350V5C-A08.I have always run Ubuntu from an external USB hardrive, the boot order on my HP was:
a) Internal read/write optical disc player.
b) USB ports (for external drive).
c) Internal hard drive.
My Samsung ignores the Ubuntu disk and boots straight into Windows 8, I have gone into BIOS to look at the boot order but it is completely different to the HP one leaving me puzzled.I am missing using Ubuntu and any help to download the program onto my external drive would be welcome.

Nov 16, 2012My External USB Hard Drive doesn't show up in My Computer Win 7 64bit.
I've just received my Western Element 2,5Tb today. When I first plugged it in, it worked normally. But due to my over-excitement, I copied too much files at the same time and it wasn't working anymore. I regretted doing this immediately.
I have searched on the internet to find some solutions but all of them didn't work. I've checked the Computer Management, Disk Management, but nothing about my External HD showed up. In the notification area, my laptop still detected it and I can removed it properly [even though i can't use it at all].
I tried to connect to my USB and another Samsung 500Gb HDD. And it worked perfectly fine. Then, I tried to connect my new HDD to my sister's lap [she is using Window Vista] and it worked perfectly fine too.

I have a Compaq Presario V2000 (Yeah I know, probably not the best machine for Windows 7) and any type of USB drive I put into a USB port will not show up in My Computer but it does show up in Device Manager and Disk Management. However, my iPhone will connect just fine.
I have checked all the drivers and they are up to date. I went to the Western Digital (my non accessible External Hard Drive) site and there were no new drivers for the drive. I un installed all of the USB Root Hubs and then re installed them. I have basically tried everything thing that I found after googling.

Jul 22, 2011I'm having some trouble getting an external hard drive to be recognized by my computer. I have quite a few already, but I got another one because one of them won't read on my comp, although it will read on my netbook. The new drive I got has the same issue, no go on the comp, but works fine on the netbook.
I tried unplugging all of the other drives and even using the other cables to connect the new drive, but Windows 7 simply won't recognize it being plugged in. No "badump" sound and no icon in My Computer. Tried restarting, nothing. I tried it in all six of my computer's USB ports, but got no better result.
Computer Freezes Randomly With External HDD Plugged In
Jun 14, 2012My computer is an Alienware M11x R1 (yes yes, gripe all you want, I like them!) running Windows 7 Premium 64 bit. Okay so since the day I got my M11x it has been freezing randomly. No one could find the source of this problem, though I seem to have located it recently...
Whenever I have an external HDD plugged in my system will completely lock up randomly. Can't move the mouse or do anything, the last sound that was playing hangs (Ie. if a song was playing the song would go kind of "zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz-" continuously), and I have to shut it off by holding the power button. It can go for a week without locking up or it can lock up two times in a single day. It also does this with some random programs that it just doesn't seem to like very much.
I just went out and bought a new HDD to see if it was a compatibility problem (the old external I was using was fairly old) and it just froze up again while using the new one...

May 5, 2012I have attached a Seagate 500 GG external hard drive to my computer but it is not showing up in My Computer.I have browsed similar threads and on their advice gone into Device Manager.The drive is there but with no letter assigned to it but when I right click to assign one, it refers me to Windows Help, which is unable to solve the problem. Initially noted that it wasn't showing in 'my computer' and so assumed I had driver issues and sought to update them from Dell's site. After doing so there was still no change, but noted that It was appearing in 'device manager'.I even tried updating the USB hubs from the Device Manager, and it states that they are all up-to-date with the correct drivers. Both external hard drives that i have tried has worked on other PC's so i assume that mine is the issue.
