I just got a new HP desktop, and a wireless router to put into the USB port. It worked perfectly after initial install with the drivers, but after coming back from sleep, it does not see the adapter, and I have to re install the drivers to get it to work. If I shut down the system, then turn it back on, the adapter works perfectly.

I am having this same issue with my newly built pc. The drive running Windows 7 is from a laptop where the mobo died. I am using it in AHCI mode because my case has a front hot swap caddy. I have a Gigabyte Z68X-UD3H-B3 mobo and after installing and uninstalling drivers, software, changing settings, removing ram, changing power options to maximum power for pci card and wifi, turning off hibernate, restarted, rebooted, updated all drivers from Gigabyte, chipset drivers, etc. I have unchecked "allow Windows to turn off this device". Restarted and tested and I get the same issue. I have unchecked this box in all of my networking devices too including, 802.11n Wireless Lan Card #2 and Microsoft Virtual Wifi Miniport Adapter. Also, uninstalled and reinstalled these and updated drivers from my disc that came from Gigabyte as well as driver update from the Gigabyte website.
Nothing I do will turn on my wifi card after sleep. Windows will not see a network adapter. In device manager, there is no wireless card, even after showing hidden devices. Adding a device does not discover it. Installing the network card driver and software does nothing to detect it. Windows thinks there is no device connected. Everything works fine after restarting though. I have S3 enabled in bios as that is what I want. I have cpu fan that I don't want to hear with no option to turn them off. Otherwise, i'd be fine with S1. Is this just not a working feature? I've read that sleep is an ongoing issue with Windows, but my pc sleeps fine. I just want to be able to put my pc to S3 sleep and resume with a working wifi card. There must be a key setting I'm missing because I'm sure it was working with my last set of ram.
I recently purchased this computer used. It has windows 7 ultimate (32-bit) and the computer is a custom build I think. Anyway, the option to "sleep" is there, but non-selectable. I think I've encountered this before and I installed a driver or something and it was fine. Also, the desktop themes are limited; I can't customize the aero window/taskbar theme..
View 10 Replies View RelatedI am running a freshly built Windows 7 x64 desktop. Bought a Netgear wnda3100v2 wireless adapter to connect to my router (asus rt-n56u). The connection runs fine most of the time - web access is OK, same with accessing a shared HDD connected directly to the router. But when i try copying files from another Home group machine (Windows 7 ultimate DELL Inspiron laptop), network connection immediately dies altogether - i need to remove the adapter and plug it back in to resume network connection. There are no problems accessing the files, it's the copying that is broken. I tried using both Netgear native drivers and these - same results.

Now I tried to "Add a new printer" and for some reason after trying time after time my computer is not discovering my wireless printer any more?
My printer sucessfully pairs up with my router every time I try to go through the wireless setup wizard. I've restarted/unplugged the printer time & time again & also restarted the computer.

I recently replaced my wireless router and Bellsouth DSL modem with a single Netgear DGN2200 DSL modem/wireless router. The problem is my desktop which is wired, cannot see the laptop computers that are on the network via wireless connection. If I start a homegroup with one of the laptops, the other laptop can join but my desktop cannot (no "join now" option). If I start a homegroup with my wired desktop, neither laptop sees it.However, if I connect my desktop to the network using my USB wireless adapter, then I can establish a homegroup with either a laptop or the desktop with no problem.I have checked that IPv6 is enabled and that all the services listed in other posts are enabled. I'm fairly certain the cause is some setting in my router security, but I don't see anything that would prevent my desktop from linking. I can also get on the internet with no problem.

The only way it works is if I click on the network computer in the bottom right corner and then troubleshoot for a couple mins, until the computer automatically fixes the problem. Im guessing a service or something isn't working.Ive tried buying new modem to wireless modem cables but still no luck. Obviously using Windows 7 (Ultimate)

Now it just goes to the user login screen.

Sometimes when I click start and sleep on my computer (windows 7) the monitor will go to sleep but the computer is still running. I cannot wake my monitor up so there is nothing I can do to wake it up besides manually turning it off using the button on the computer case.

It is a few months old and been working fine until the last few weeks where I have had an escalating series of problems. I have got used to closing the screen to send the machine into sleep mode. The new Windows7 sleep seems to work much better than Vista and the resume has always been very quick. Then problems suddenly started.Firstly I occasionally lost wireless connection but the machine found it again (automatically) after a while.Then, the connection dropped out permanently and diagnostics indicated a yellow flag against the Broadcom network adapter in Device manager. At first getting the machine to reset worked. Then I had to reinstall the drivers and that worked. Then disabling/reenabling the adapter was the only way. Then even that did not work.
At one point the computer froze whenever I touched the internet connection icon or the Device Manager item. Then it just froze completely whenever it came out of sleep and I had to do a hard close.At one point I could only restart in safe mode.When this happened I fiddled with all of the things I had tried before (reinstalling etc) but don't really know what worked. One time I just left it over night and in the morning it worked.The Acer help people suggest wiping the hard disk and using their recover utility to set the machine back to factory condition but this will wipe out all of my data and programs I have installed.

View 12 Replies View RelatedThe Intel(R) 82579LM Gigabit Network adapter works about 40% of the time. The other 60% it says there is a hardware issue and it cannot connect. I then generally fiddle around with the ethernet cable ie unplug it plug it back in move it around again and restart. This sometimes works and I have no problems. Then when I restart my computer its a whole game on whether I can get it working again or not.
I have the latest drivers, and it is not a firewall/security issue.
I've installed ASUS Wi-Fi USB adapter (model USB-N13) for LAN. There is Windows 7 Home Premium x64. Through control panel I see that adapter works normally and the drivers are the latest. However my PC doesn't see the adapter - the ASUS utility notices me "ASUS Wireless LAN card is taken apart from your desktop PC".I have the same Wi-Fi adapter at another my PC with Windows 7 Home Basic, and everything works nice. Of course I changed these adapters between my computers. Conclusion is both adapters are working good. The same models, the same drivers. Actually I don't understand where is the mistake?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've bough a Dell Inspiron 1564 with Windows 7 home premium x64 last month and everything was fine until a few days ago, when sleep mode stopped working. When I close my lid and open it up after some time there are 2 things that might happen:
1. The screen is just black, all the buttons are lit, I hear the fan, but no reaction at all. So I just forcibly turn off and turn it on again.
2. After opening the lid, nothing happens, when I try to turn it on, it loads up, but informs me that windows has not shut down properly last time (or something like that).
I set the hard drive to stop spinning after 4 hours of idle activity but it doesn't ever go to sleep. If I set the time interval to < 1 hour like 45 min then it will go to sleep.
I'm not talking about the computer going to sleep/hibernating, I mean the spinning of the hard drive.
I have an usb wifi adapter but it doesn't work on my 7 x64... It's time to buy a new one, wich one should I choose??

I just upgraded to a new computer with Win 7 installed. The old USB Network Adapter did not work so we bought a Belkin N Wireless "high performance" USB Network adapter (F5D8053 N Wireless USB Adapter). The specs on the box did NOT say it worked with Windows 7, but the clerk said drivers would be available.
So far, the adapter does not work, the install of drivers does not help, and I don't find anything anywhere that says this adapter will work with Windows 7. So, it's going back in the box and I'm going to exchange it. But, to avoid any more wasted time, I would like any recommendations on what adapters do work and which are best.
Up until yesterday my new Dell Vostro 1720 Laptop with Windows 7 Professional was working perfectly. I have had the laptop almost 4 months and through the day it connects via LAN and on an evening via WIRELESS with no issues at any point getting onto the internet.Yesterday something happened. I've no idea what, as far as I'm aware no updates were installed and no new software.In work yesterday I was working on LAN fine, last night I went home and I was unable to get onto the internet. I have 2 other machines and a pS3 which were all working fine. I have a little yellow exclamation mark over my wirless connection saying no internet access.It does get an IP and I can ping my router fine. But when I search via name it fails. I know its something to do with the DNS, but not sure what. When I came into work today i tried connecting to wireless here and the same happens. Exactly same I can ping ip of dns server and everything internally but unable to connect to them by name.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm using the Lenovo multi touch driver for my X61T. With Windows 7 build 7000 the same driver when I wake my laptop from sleep the touch screen works. Starting with build 704x (i can't remember the exact build but it was the first leaked x64 build) when I wake the machine from sleep the touch screen doesn't work (both pen and finger touch)
I have tried to change USB settings but I haven't seen any fix. A restart of the machine means the tablet works again. Any ideas about a patch until Lenovo makes new drivers for Windows 7?
My laptop is an MSI Gx660, running windows 7 64bit with 12gb ram.The laptop is only 1-2months old and My harddisk has very little files with about 205gb free on the C drive.
After using for a long period of time like 6-7hours, I would usually put my laptop into hibernate mode.When I click hibernate, the screen turns black but even after 20mins the power button including wifi and other lights doesnt go off, which I have to force shutdown by holding the power button. Even sleeping the laptop after 6-7hours does the same issue, unable to go to sleep(indicated by the blinking power button)
The wierd thing is that if I use the laptop for about 2 hours or less, I am able to fully hibernate or sleep, which I tested a few times.
