I have Windows 7 installed on my PC and I was wondering which wireless USB adapter would work best?
At present I have a Netgear PCI wireless card which wont work and I prefer the USB devices anyway.
Looking forward to any assistance.

I just got Windows 7 and its working smooth right now ... But I have a recent question: I want to get rid of all the cables that I have, included like 5feet of ethernet cable so I want to get a PCI or a USB wireless to connect to my Router but I dont really know which one would be the best for me and of course, 100% compatible with Windows 7 ... Any ideas?

I have a toshiba satellite m35x, with an intel(R) pro/wireless 2200BG adapter, when I installed Win 7, I tried to connect to a wireless connection, but the adapter does not appear anywhere in windows 7, not even in the device manager. I have installed all the drivers and fixing tool, and still I cant find the adapter. It works fine if I boot back using Windows XP, any help?

Right, I currently have got the Linksys WMP54G PCI adapter. It works fine as I am using the RALINK RT2500 drivers for it. I could not find any official driver to work with Windows 7 x64.
Anyway, I have been thinking about getting a new card with 802.11n support. What are your recommendations for a good wireless adapter (preferably PCI) that has good official drivers and support for Windows 7 x64?

I just upgraded to a new computer with Win 7 installed. The old USB Network Adapter did not work so we bought a Belkin N Wireless "high performance" USB Network adapter (F5D8053 N Wireless USB Adapter). The specs on the box did NOT say it worked with Windows 7, but the clerk said drivers would be available.
So far, the adapter does not work, the install of drivers does not help, and I don't find anything anywhere that says this adapter will work with Windows 7. So, it's going back in the box and I'm going to exchange it. But, to avoid any more wasted time, I would like any recommendations on what adapters do work and which are best.

Up until yesterday my new Dell Vostro 1720 Laptop with Windows 7 Professional was working perfectly. I have had the laptop almost 4 months and through the day it connects via LAN and on an evening via WIRELESS with no issues at any point getting onto the internet.Yesterday something happened. I've no idea what, as far as I'm aware no updates were installed and no new software. In work yesterday I was working on LAN fine, last night I went home and I was unable to get onto the internet. I have 2 other machines and a pS3 which were all working fine. I have a little yellow exclamation mark over my wirless connection saying no internet access. It does get an IP and I can ping my router fine. But when I search via name it fails. I know its something to do with the DNS, but not sure what. When I came into work today i tried connecting to wireless here and the same happens. Exactly same I can ping ip of dns server and everything internally but unable to connect to them by name.

My cable company said my wireless adapter on my laptop does not work and isn't picking up a signal. They believe I may need to reinstall the wireless driver. I have a hp G60-535-dx and I recently updated Windows 7 and don't know if that caused the problem. My other laptop is a windows Vista and will connect to the internet and they both share a wireless router, however the windows 7 laptop will not connect to the internet. What is the best way to solve this problem?

I installed an Alfa AWUS036H wireless adapter on my Asus u50f laptop. It didn't work, customer support said it must be a defective unit and return. One of the troubleshooting steps I tried was disabling the regular wireless adapter. I tried that and also uninstalling it.Now, I have uninstalled the Alfa driver/utility, and simply want my regular wireless to work again. I tried reinstalling the driver automatically, and also others i found on the net, and none work. They all say device is working properly, but there is a red x on the tray icon and it says no connections and there is no list of networks in range like usual. When I run the Windows (7) troubleshooter, it says there is a problem with the driver but offers no solution.I tried system restore from multiple points, but all say it can't restore (possibly due to AV program). So I uninstalled avast, tried again, and still can't get a restore.

I've installed Windows 7 this morning and I should have known I'd run into a problem with my wireless USB adapter. It is supposed to auto install, so theres no program I can run in compatibility mode. I've played with it a lot, and finally I'm resorting to asking for help. It is made by ENCORE Electronics. I've found the correct driver (for vista) here: Encore Electronics, Inc. but even that will not install properly using the device manager. Is it possible to get this working? Or am I doomed to re-installing xp?

i was wondering if anyone had any troubles with this device?
I have been struggling for months now with my 64bit build 7600 version of windows 7.
I noticed SMC created a new drvier just for windows 7 but once downloaded inside the .RAR there are only a few .sys and some .inf files. What to do with them?
If i install teh driver that came with the CD windows 7 won't even recognize my wireless. I will get the device not properly installed error. So besides that driver i have also to install an onlder version of it. Then i can get windows to see my wireless.

I have a laptop (HP Compaq cq62) with Windows 7 64 bit and I have a strange problem with my wireless adapter. When I close the lid the laptop goes into sleep mode. When I open the lid and log in on my laptop, the wireless adapter can not find any routers. I have to go to my network settings window, disable my wireless adapter, enable the wireless adapter and then it is working.

I recently moved my computer away from my router to a different room. So I bought myself a wireless adapter, a D-Link DWA-160 wireless adapter. I installed the drivers with the CD and followed the instructions. At the end of the installation it gave me this: (Url) I have re-installed many times trying different methods, but nothing seems to work. In device manager it shows that the device is installed and working properly. Yet it does not make it actually work. The light on the adapter will not flash like it does for my laptop (tested). And I am unable to even run the Wireless Connection Manager from D-Link, i just double click and nothing happens.

I recently purchased a USB WiFi adapter from eBay (Realtek 8188SU.chipset) to use with my desktop PC. After installing it, it does not detect any wireless networks either through the Realtek utility or Windows. When trying to connect to a network in windows, I get the following message,"There might be a problem with the driver for the Wireless Network Connection 2 adapter"I am running Windows 7 Home Premium x64, and have only Microsoft Security Essentials as my AV software.According to the device manager and network connections, the device is fine. Below is a screenshot of ipconfig /all, device manager, network connections, and the error.[URL]...I have tried this wireless adapter on my laptop, also running W7HPx64, and the device performs flawlessly, can connect to networks etc. The device appears as a different name when it is first plugged in without the drivers installed, but once the driver is installed (either the one from the disk, older version, or the one from Realtek's website, newest version) it shows up as the same device name.

I had the infinite start up loop before but anyways I took off what I needed to take off and did a clean install of windows 7. After I reinstalled it I couldn't find any networks and I could only connect to the internet via LAN ethernet cord. When I go to Manage Wireless Networks it says my wireless is not currently enabled. My wi-fi light is on though on my laptop. I have a Toshiba Satellite L450. When I go to adapter settings it says my PCI adapter is working fine. Wondering how I can fix this and connect wirelessly, so I don't have to use the cord to connect to the internet everytime.

I have integrated LAN in my PC which I dont use so I disabled it in BIOS.
Than I installed the driver for my Belkin F5D7050.
I go into the Adapter Settings and than it comes up with my adapter disabled so I click on Enable and than the box pops up and says Enabling than Enabled but still its Disabled as its gray. Sometimes the box freezes when Enabling. And yes I have clicked Refresh after I tried to enable.
Anyone got clues, there was no problems when I was connecting with Vista.
