Wireless Adapter Not Working?
Mar 12, 2011
My cable company said my wireless adapter on my laptop does not work and isn't picking up a signal. They believe I may need to reinstall the wireless driver. I have a hp G60-535-dx and I recently updated Windows 7 and don't know if that caused the problem. My other laptop is a windows Vista and will connect to the internet and they both share a wireless router, however the windows 7 laptop will not connect to the internet. What is the best way to solve this problem?

I installed an Alfa AWUS036H wireless adapter on my Asus u50f laptop. It didn't work, customer support said it must be a defective unit and return. One of the troubleshooting steps I tried was disabling the regular wireless adapter. I tried that and also uninstalling it.Now, I have uninstalled the Alfa driver/utility, and simply want my regular wireless to work again. I tried reinstalling the driver automatically, and also others i found on the net, and none work. They all say device is working properly, but there is a red x on the tray icon and it says no connections and there is no list of networks in range like usual. When I run the Windows (7) troubleshooter, it says there is a problem with the driver but offers no solution.I tried system restore from multiple points, but all say it can't restore (possibly due to AV program). So I uninstalled avast, tried again, and still can't get a restore.

I use Toshiba Satellite L645-S4056. I lost my recovery partition so i installed windows 7 from another DVD. Previously my laptop had home premium but i installed ultimate with a DVD. After installing computer doesnot detect any Network adapter. It doesnot even show wireless adpater in device manager so i cannot install specific driver. I went to toshiba website downloaded an exe file that install wireless driver specific to my model but still it does not recognize. While troubleshooting it says cannot detect any properly installed network adapter. Is it because of home premium and ultimate conflict ?? How do get proper driver and install it?

I recently upgraded to windows 7 professional, and now my network adapter does not work. I have a Linksys WMP54Gv4 wireless network adapter. I checked with Linksys and apparently they don't have windows 7 drivers yet. If anyone knows of any fixes or ways to get around this problem I would really appreciate it.

I have Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit and I need the 2wire 802.11g Wireless USB adapter driver 64 bit version. I can't seem to find it. Apparently the cd I have won't work on installing the drivers on 64 bit version and I can't use the internet in my room unless I have the drivers for it.Everytime I point my computer to look at the cd it says it couldn't find the right drivers. It worked on Windows 7 32 bit and Windows XP and Vista. But it won't work on Windows 7 64 bit. Here is a picture of the device: url...

Last night my wireless adapter (Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Network Adapter) stopped working. In the properties it says it is working properly, however,it will not find a single wireless network to connect to, only the big red X over the icon in the system tray. My wife's laptop which is 5 feet from mine, finds our network as well as several of our neighbors. I upgraded to Windows 7 last month, so this morning I tried updating drivers, installed these but still the big red X. My laptop will work with the ethernet cable plugged in, just not wireless.I am stumped because it says it is working properly in the properties menu and not returning any errors during troubleshooting. I know its not my router, as my xbox, ipod touch, android phone, and wife's laptop can connect and work fine. Since she and I have the same laptop, I made sure that our properties settings were the same this morning as well, and they match up.

My connection works perfectly for 15ish minutes, then I get disconnected. The wireless icon at the bottom left has a red x and says that there are no connections available. In the network connections window my wireless adaptor also has a red X. If I try to disable it the computer becomes completely unresponsive and I have to manually reboot it, then it works fine for 15 more minute.

I have had my HP Pavilion dm4 for a year and a half now, and when my school gave me a copy of Windows 7 Enterprise (it came with Windows 7 Home) I installed it and all the necessary drivers, and everything's been running smoothly - til now.Tonight all of a sudden my Internet connection showed that it was connected but had "limited connectivity" - aka no Internet. So I restarted my router - no luck. Then I restarted my computer, and my F12 wireless button showed orange - meaning that wireless capability was turned off entirely. It wouldn't turn back on even if I pushed the button, so I went into Control Panel and did some diagnostic thing and it forced the wireless capability back on and it worked again. For about an hour. Then the button went orange again and the diagnostic couldn't turn it back on.So, I went into wireless connections and disabled and reenabled the actual connection rather than the adapter, and it worked again - for about another hour.I don't think it should be a driver problem seeing as I can make it turn back on for certain periods of time and it's worked fine until now. Does anyone know what to do?

I've upgraded my PC to Windows 7 Home Premium today (from Win XP Pro) and now the wireless network adapter does not work.
The adapter is a Netgear WG331 v1. I've tried downloading the drivers from the Netgear site - both those for the v1 and the newer drivers for the v3 and neither have fixed the issue.
I've used the Win 7 troubleshoot feature to install this driver (it is meant to be included within Win 7) but this does not work either.
I've also tried plugging the ethernet cable that normally goes directly into the back of my Netgear router into the PC, in order to provide Win 7 with internet access. However, this has not worked, with the connection apparently not recognised by the computer. I've tried to update the drivers for my PC's motherboard to remedy this, but have been unable to find any that are compatible with this version of Windows. The motherboard is MSI n1996.
Windows 7 troubleshooter shows missing drivers for the following: Multimedia Audio Controller (two of these), PCI Input Device, Ethernet Controller.
What I'm banking on is that an internet connection will enable Win 7 to locate drivers for all of these, but I am currently unable to make this happen. The internet connection is running fine and the wireless router is broadcasting the signal properly (I am accessing it right now via my laptop).

I just got Windows 7 and its working smooth right now ... But I have a recent question: I want to get rid of all the cables that I have, included like 5feet of ethernet cable so I want to get a PCI or a USB wireless to connect to my Router but I dont really know which one would be the best for me and of course, 100% compatible with Windows 7 ... Any ideas?

Right, I currently have got the Linksys WMP54G PCI adapter. It works fine as I am using the RALINK RT2500 drivers for it. I could not find any official driver to work with Windows 7 x64.
Anyway, I have been thinking about getting a new card with 802.11n support. What are your recommendations for a good wireless adapter (preferably PCI) that has good official drivers and support for Windows 7 x64?

I just upgraded to a new computer with Win 7 installed. The old USB Network Adapter did not work so we bought a Belkin N Wireless "high performance" USB Network adapter (F5D8053 N Wireless USB Adapter). The specs on the box did NOT say it worked with Windows 7, but the clerk said drivers would be available.
So far, the adapter does not work, the install of drivers does not help, and I don't find anything anywhere that says this adapter will work with Windows 7. So, it's going back in the box and I'm going to exchange it. But, to avoid any more wasted time, I would like any recommendations on what adapters do work and which are best.

Up until yesterday my new Dell Vostro 1720 Laptop with Windows 7 Professional was working perfectly. I have had the laptop almost 4 months and through the day it connects via LAN and on an evening via WIRELESS with no issues at any point getting onto the internet.Yesterday something happened. I've no idea what, as far as I'm aware no updates were installed and no new software. In work yesterday I was working on LAN fine, last night I went home and I was unable to get onto the internet. I have 2 other machines and a pS3 which were all working fine. I have a little yellow exclamation mark over my wirless connection saying no internet access. It does get an IP and I can ping my router fine. But when I search via name it fails. I know its something to do with the DNS, but not sure what. When I came into work today i tried connecting to wireless here and the same happens. Exactly same I can ping ip of dns server and everything internally but unable to connect to them by name.

I've installed Windows 7 this morning and I should have known I'd run into a problem with my wireless USB adapter. It is supposed to auto install, so theres no program I can run in compatibility mode. I've played with it a lot, and finally I'm resorting to asking for help. It is made by ENCORE Electronics. I've found the correct driver (for vista) here: Encore Electronics, Inc. but even that will not install properly using the device manager. Is it possible to get this working? Or am I doomed to re-installing xp?

i was wondering if anyone had any troubles with this device?
I have been struggling for months now with my 64bit build 7600 version of windows 7.
I noticed SMC created a new drvier just for windows 7 but once downloaded inside the .RAR there are only a few .sys and some .inf files. What to do with them?
If i install teh driver that came with the CD windows 7 won't even recognize my wireless. I will get the device not properly installed error. So besides that driver i have also to install an onlder version of it. Then i can get windows to see my wireless.

When I open the lid and log in on my laptop, the wireless adapter can not find any routers. I have to go to my network settings window, disable my wireless adapter, enable the wireless adapter and then it is working.
