My Windows 7 Home premium keeps loosing my internet connection. I'm on Time Warner roadrunner high speed cable internet. The other computers in the household do not loose their connections, just the Win 7 one. I can reestablish the connection by doing a reboot or working through the network connection wizard. But, it's a pain in the butt to stop and reboot or spend 15 minutes working through the wizard. My computer is home built(me)with an athlon CPU and 4 megs of RAM. I have 2 other hard drives in this computer with other operating systems on them, Windows XP and Linux(Ubuntu)they do not drop the connection, just the Win 7 drive

Ok, here is a problem I have been having lately and it is driving me crazy. I have a network with a server running 2008 Standard R2 and 4 workstations using Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. I also have 1 other station using Windows XP Professional. The software I run off the server is installed as a client install on the workstations and have to use a mapped drive of E: to let the software see the database. Every 6 to 8 hours of non use of the software... when I reopen it I get a not responding and it has to close and reopen. I looked at the mapped drives and the E: drive disconnects but after opening the E: Drive up it connects right away and then the software works fine. I have tried a lot of things people are saying online. I have disabled autodisconnect -1 in the registry and turned off power management on the Ethernet port. I get the following message when I look at the event viewer.
Event 1005, Application Error"Windows cannot access the file for one of the following reasons: there is problem with the network connection, the disk that the file is stored on, or storage drivers on tihs computer may be missing."But here is the kicker... The windows XP Professional works all the time with no problems so it has to be Windows 7. I have the IPs static in the NIC properties and using the DNS of 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 which is Google. I was using 192.168.0.100 which was the IP of the server but that didn't make a difference.I gave a lot of details to weed out the normal postingAlso I have DHCP and DNS turned on the server if that would be any possible issue that is causing. I don't know beings I put Google as the DNS if routing in the software would be an issue?

I reformatted my computer recently and ever since my Dell BT Travel Mouse is not working. Bluetooth is turned on in the BIOS, and I used driver genius to get all of the drivers needed. It is connecting to the mouse and I can see it in the Devices. That being said I can't actually move the cursor with the mouse.

I have a Microsoft Intellimouse Bluetooth connected to an usb bluetooth dongle using win 7 drivers.
Mouse works perfect för 30-60 minutes but then starts to lag out and move very erratic. After a reboot the mouse is back in perfect shape. Its not a signal issue since its always perfect right after reboot and signal strenght is displayed as strong.
Once starting to lag it wont go back until reboot. Any ideas?

I recently bought a new laptop (ASUS K70IC) that has no Bluetooth (BT). I also bought a Bluetooth mouse with it, Genius 905BT and an USB Bluetooth dongle, I thought that would work. But it doesn't. Other Bluetooth devices show up when I search for them, but the mouse doesn't. I tried that in XP SP3 too (desktop PC) but it doesnt show up there either. So my questions are:

I have a bluetooth mouse and when the computer goes to sleep the mouse will not wake it up. If I move the mouse or click the buttons nothing happens, even though the mouse has a blue activity indicator light (indicates mouse activity, not connectivity). If I instead type on one of my keyboards it will wake the computer up and the mouse will reconnect.

I am thinking of upgrading to Windows 7 and also looking for a new Bluetooth Keyboard/Mouse combo.
I have seen a few people having problems with Windows 7 (when searching in Google to find out about compatibility). Also seen some keyboard/mouse combo's on eBay that specify that only work with Windows XP and those upgrading to Vista were selling the old sets which gives me the impression there may be some compability issues.
Anyone have some experience to suggest suitable keyboard/mouse bluetooth sets? I was looking at the Logitech MX5500 combo or the Microsoft Optical Desktop Elite (Bluetooth) set.

I've had a Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 for a short time, and had no problems initially in setting it up with my Acer Aspire 5740G notebook. Recently the mouse stopped working, however it is still showing up in the list of devices. Right-clicking on the mouse's icon does not show a remove or delete menu item, so I can't attempt to re-add the mouse as a new Bluetooth device.Other Bluetooth devices still work with the notebook, and the mouse still works with my PS3, so I don't think it's a hardware problem. How can I remove the device from the list of devices, so I can try to add it again? Or is there some other way I can try to get the mouse working again?

My microsoft 5000 Bluetooth mouse suddenly stopped working with my Dell precision m4500 laptop after nearly a year of working fine. The batteries are new, I tried re-pairing it with the laptop, but it won't discover it when I try to add new device (the mouse is ready to pair). My microsoft bluetooth keyboard still works fine, and I tried pairing the mouse with my macbook, and that works fine.

I have a Microsoft 5000 bluetooth mouse which doesn't work ever since I updated my bluetooth drivers. My bluetooth keyboard and numpad work fine. I want to re-pair it with the computer but Windows will not display any device which is already installed when looking for devices and my mouse currently shows up in the devices and printers window. I want to remove the mouse from this window but it is the only device which doesn't have a "remove device" option when I click it. The keyboard and the numpad both have this option...
How can I remove this device so I can pair it again with the computer?

I have two Win7 laptops and a Logitec bluetooth mouse. When I pair it to Laptop 1, it works fine as long as I don't ever connect it to Laptop 2. (On rare occasions it will become unrecognized even if I don't pair it with the other laptop. While that behavior may be related to the problem I am posting about, I have not found a way to reproduce that issue on demand.) If I pair the mouse with Laptop 2 and then return to Laptop 1, Laptop 1 no longer sees the mouse and I have to go through the long exercise of pairing the mouse to Laptop 1 again. Once I have done so, if I retrun to Laptop 2, laptop 2 no longer sees the mouse and I have to re-pair it to Laptop 2. So, basically, whenever i switch laptops, I have to pair my mouse. This gets very frustrating as I have to switch between laptops all the time. It is my understanding that this is not expected behavior.

I have an HP MobileWorkstation Elitebook 8440w with Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit OS and I'm unable to add this mouse as a Bluetooth Device.I was able to add the device to my old HP Elitebook 8530w with Windows Vista and it worked most of the time, but then it stopped working when the OS was updated to Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit. I don't have administrative permission on the 8530w to remove the device to attempt adding it again to see if that helps. Also, I can't change the Bluetooth settings on that machine to rule out that as the problem due to the same lack of permission.Rather than go back to my administrator to change the settings on the old 8530w and waste time trying to see if the mouse connects with it, I'd rather get my mouse to connect to my current 8440w laptop for which I can change the Bluetooth settings.
I tried to get the sys admins at work to fix this mouse problem, but they couldn't do it with the limited time they had to spare, especially since I have the option of using a USB mouse they provided. The problem is that I spent $50 on this mouse and it worked before the Windows 7 install on the 8530w and never worked on the 8440w. I've tried everything suggested in other forum threads on this issue: Turned mouse on using the power switch on the bottom and getting a steady green light Held down the button on the bottom to make mouse discoverable with flashing red and green light Fresh batteries (removed and replaced fresh batteries and attempted connection again) Edited all device settings as recommended in Microsoft documentation:Bluetooth Settings > Options (the following are checked on)DiscoveryAllow Bluetooth devices to find this computer ConnectionsAllow Bluetooth devices to connect to this computer Alert me when a new Bluetooth device wants to connect Show the Bluetooth icon in the notification area Bluetooth Settings >HardwareHP Integrated Module with Bluetooth 2.1 Wireless Technology"This device is working properly" Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator"This device is working properly" Bluetooth Service PropertiesStartup Type: Automatic Service status: Started Log on as: Local System account Double-checked the device drivers to make sure they are up-to-date After all that, the "Add a device" tool just spins forever without discovering the mouse. Is my $50 mouse useless with Windows 7, or am I missing something?

I'm trying to share an Internet connection via bluetooth.
The host: HP 8740w laptop running Windows 7 Enterprise x64 Connected to the Internet via Local Area Connection (wired) The client: Asus Transformer tablet
I have a bluetooth PAN setup and the devices are communicating properly. They both have IPs in the 192.168.44.x range, can ping each other, and I can use a Remote Desktop client on the tablet to control the PC.
The last piece I'm missing is giving the tablet access to the PCs Internet connection. I go into Network and Sharing Center, click Change Adapter Settings, and open the properties of Local Area Connection. On the Sharing tab, I check Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection. I then click the Home Network Connection dropdown, and Bluetooth Network Adapter is not listed. I see others, including my wireless card, VMware virtual adapters, VPN adapters, etc..
I've looked at the Bluetooth Network Adapter's properties, and it doesn't seem to be missing any protocols that the other adapters have. It's enabled, connected, and working fine locally. Is there a registry hack or something that I have to do to make it show up in the ICS list?

i7 quad, 8g ram, Home Premium. Delivered Thursday this week. Updated all the way, AVG antivirus, Comodo Firewall (FW only!). every startup, every reboot, the blue tooth (Targus and MS) mouse is incredibly NOT smooth. 20% more and it would be unuseable. If i go to the View Bluetooth devices and remove the mouse then fresh search for it-find it-install it, now the Bluetooth mouse is as sweet and pleasant as can be. If I remove it before shutdown the find and add after boot, same thing. But just reboot and it's back to horrible. A wireless mouse (with dongle thingie) works fine, anytime. Phone and online chats with Dell have led to them pointing me to the Intel site for the driver packageBT_2.2_s64.exe. Downloaded, installed, exact same behavior.
Reboot and the mouse needs a kick- remove and rediscover and it's fine. Uninstall the Intel package, base MS/Win7 bluetooth enum, same thing.Found similar but more comprehensive driver and installer package for the Intel 2200 half card wireless on Lenovo website. (300+MB!) Installed it, at least it does Install the Intel ProSet package into running/starting services.. Same mouse behavior. Tried setting some things to 'Auto-Delayed start'...Search the internet and I see a lot of people have the similar problem, some even when the close the laptop lid and reopen- or half a dozen variations on this.Even more frustrating is I have a slightly aged Inspiron N5010 Laptop with W7 home prem that these same mice work flawlessly with it;s Dell 365 bluetooth module.

I just bought a Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 and it works fine when connected but it disconnects when my computer is idle. Once disconnected it is not recognized again when I start using my computer again. To get my computer to connect to it again I either have to restart or delete the drivers and reconnect the mouse. Is there a way to change the bluetooth settings so that it doesn't "sleep" after a period of time? I dont know if that is the problem but I cant think of anything else. I'm using the mouse on my desktop outlined in my system specs.

I am currently using XP and am quite satisfied with it. But I know the handwriting is on the wall of obsolescence, especially with the monstrosity that is Win-8 looming on the horizon. So, I'm considering upgrading to Win-7. My problem is that I have several very old 16 bit applications that are indispensable to me. Some I wrote many years ago with a QuickC compiler, some are Paradox data base applications written with a Win 3.1 vintage version of Paradox, and several others of comparable antiquity. All of this stuff serves my needs perfectly well, and there is no option whatever for replacing some of it with "modern" software.I understand that none of this stuff will run under any 64 bit version of Windows, but I would like to believe that if I upgrade to the 32 bit version of Win-7 that I can continue to use all of these applications. Are there any non-obvious issues that I should be aware of before I commit to an upgrade to Win-7?

I recently upgraded a client's computing site installation. 4 Desktops, software (XP/MS Office 2003 to W7/MS Office 2010) and one MFD. To save some time and make the transition smoother (and attempt to iron out any unforseeables) I set the 4 new workstations up at home - at cat5 hardwired through a TP Link Router under a Workgroup, with each workstation named WORKSTATION01, 02,03 and 04, with file sharing via the workgroup, appropriate advanced sharing center settings and routing via DHCP (dynamic IPs). The network worked flawlessly at home for two weeks, whilst I installed the inevitable updates and made sure when I installed at the site, everything was as up to date as possible and any issues ironed out. However, the client started loosing the ability to navigate to another WORKSTATION via MS Explorer typically, it would happen in the afternoon. Some days, it wouldn't happen at all.BUT! WORKSTATION01 never looses Workgroup visibility in MS Explorer only the other 3 do - and not all at one time always.I've compared all settings on WORKSTATION01 with the other (offending) 3 and they are the same.
All work stations peer at the same level - there is no (higher) server as such. Although WORKSTATION01 has the clients accounting software data file on it and important documents are stored under a SERVER folder which is resident on WORKSTATION01's hard drive. The "visibilities" are always fine when they boot the machines up in the morning. If a device looses the MS Explorer visibility to the Workgroup (under Network) - sometimes rebooting the device restores it, some times it doesn't.They don't loose the MS Explorer visibility if they leave a session(dialogue) permanently open - but they shouldn't have to to that.I've set up a desktop folder with inter-workstation short cuts as a work around and they always work.
Other Considerations:
1) SOFTWARE - running Windows Defender with Firewall On and Avast.
2) FIREWALLS ON/OFF - I've read a lot of threads - the jury seems out on this - some advocate turniong them off, others fervently announce this should NEVER be done - use the right settings!
3) DHCP vs STATIC IPs - again, plently of dispute on this as to whether DHCP or static IPs should be used for device routing.

I am working in a software package such a Adobe Premiere Pro or Dreamweaver (or any program at all), I am getting interrupted by an unknown program that causes me to loose control of the program i.e. if I am writing in Word the interruption occurs and whatever I am typing after that does not appear on the screen. I have to click back to the page to start writing again. This happens every 30 seconds or so and is very frustrating, especially if I am editing a video because the footage will stop and will have to click play again.
