Bad Image Error In Windows 7 64-bit?

Jul 25, 2011

having a difficult issue with a customer who gets the following message when opening some but not all .exe files. Soz about the long message but ill list the things i have tried."C:Windowssystem32ajpjDhglj.DLL is either not designed to run on windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or software vendow for support."The error pops up for the same file name if i run say malwarebytes or explorer but not with Ccleaner. Clicking ok gets rid of the message and the program runs anyway.I thought the file name looked virus like but nothing gets picked up by malwarebytes or MSE. If i look for the file in System32 it is not there and is not hidden either. I searched drive C for the file and to my surprise it came up but in WindowssysWOW64 instead but all the letters were in caps this time. If i Scan it with MSE i get nothing but if i scan it or any other single file with malwarebytes the error changes to "C:WindowssysWOW64AJPJDHGLJ.DLL is either not designed to run on windows or.Most bad image threads ive read can be fixed by doing a SFC /SCANNOW but it doesnt work for me. Ill try updating him to sp1 in the meantime.

Winbrand.dll Bad Image Error?

Jan 15, 2012

i have had some computer problems with this laptop, and most of them have been just quality of life things and have been solved here; but this is the worst of them yetThis is the error i am getting, just started getting it today. i have no idea what caused it or how it came about..C:Windowssystem32windbrand.dll is either not designed to run on windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or software vendor for support.i did get a blue screen, but it was only up for like 3 maybe 4 seconds. Then it said "windows failed to start" so i restored it to my update 3 days ago. But i am still getting the error. But windows does start up, i am posting this thread from my laptop now. But this error is a system32 error, so i gather the file is of some great importance.i get it when i start my computer (before the password page), when i shut down my computer (just before the shutdown screen), when i open my task manager (just after i Crtl/Alt/Delete, but i can still use the task manager after).

Image Restore Error

Sep 16, 2009

I get a failure notice when I try to restore from the image saying that I don't have a valid drive to restore to. I am imaging from a 500 Gig and trying to restroe to a 750 Gig that I am putting into to replace the 500.

Ghost 14 is not compatible with Windows 7.

Just a little follow-up info:

I am using the same computer only trying to upgrade the HD.

I am using Windows 7 Pro RTM (Legitly).

I don't want to go through having to rebuild everything from scratch again.

I am putting the 500 in my camera monitoring system.

I have taken the following 3 steps so far: 1) I've created identical partitions on the 750 to match the 500 2) I've deleted all partitions 3) I have ghosted the Windows 7 partitions to these partitions (setup old Vista Drive and imaged the Windows 7 partitions).

No luck so far.

I am getting a failure notice while trying to restore to a new HD (going from a 500 to a 750).

The message tells me that I don't have a valid HD to restore to.

The image is on a 1.5 TB and the primary disk is the 750.

Any ideas?

Cannot Make Backup Image- 0x8078015b Error?

Feb 8, 2012

I swear I am hitting every problem possible with this computer!! After much frustration for two days, I have done a clean Win 7 Ultimate install. I am running a SSD/HDD combo. Intel Rapid Storage kept flagging my mechanical drive as faulty (even after I reset it back to normal). I got tired of the message and just turned off the feature... I have been having trouble making a backup image. I REALLY need a backup disk since I had to turn off "System Restore Points" so that it wouldn't bloat my SSD. I noticed that it will successfully go through making a backup of my C drive (the SSD) and when it hits the mechanical drive, the backup will fail and I will get the 0x8078015b error.

Does anyone know how to fix this or what I can do to make a backup without using the Win 7 utility? Is my mechanical drive really faulty?? Is it my external that I am trying to make the backup to being faulty?I saw someone else with this same problem and even after getting all new drives twice, the problem persisted and it never seemed to get resolved... My HDD is a WD Caviar Black 750 GB. I really need this computer up and running ASAP and as I have purchased the mech.

Attempting To Create A Backup System Image / Not Enough Space Error

Mar 18, 2012

I'm belatedly trying to create my first system recovery backup, on a system which I first installed Windows back in November 2011.I have a 1TB drive with a 214GB partition that I set up for a backup. I manually store all my media and pictures to both a separate partition on the drive, in the cloud, and on a separate external HDD, so all I really want to back up is the system image. This is the newbie sounding question to confirm my suspicions: The system drive I'm trying to back up is definitely bigger than the partition I've set aside for recovery. My C drive is a 473GB partition, and I'm using maybe a bit more than half of that currently. If this is the case, is there a way to reallocate un-used disk space from my other partitions to make the recovery partition larger, or should I be biting the bullet and shelling out for a 500GB external to cover my system recovery needs?

System Image File Error - No Disk For Recovery Can Be Found

Nov 24, 2012

I have this laptop with Windows 7 as the operating system and with a capacity of 500 GB. My HDD was making loud noises and weird noises so I brought it to the shop and they told me to change the HDD because it might die anytime. So I did a full backup on my external hard disk, meaning that I cloned my laptop. I changed my 500gb HDD with a 240gb SSD. And when I tried to restore my backup files into the new drive, there's an error: "no disk that can be used for recovering the system disk can be found".

So I did some research on the internet and found out the reason of the error: it's because the image created was from a bigger drive than the new drive I put into my laptop. Even though my backup files are only about 100gb, I still cant restore it to my 240gb SSD because the image created was from my 500gb HDD. I am going to copy my backup files into an external hardisk with a capacity of 200gb and then backup from that drive and then I will restore it into my 240gb SSD. Will the backup file be considered as a backup from the 200gb drive or from the original 500gb HDD?

System Image Backup Failed (on Same Hard Drive) - Error 0x80042407

Feb 26, 2012

I have 2x160gb intel SSD disks running as RAID0. Recently my motherboard had failed and I replaced it with new one (different model). Couldn't access OS because apparently some RAID data is kept on the motherboard and that was gone, so I decided to use a backup. Booted from windows 7 installation disk and selected backup,

I click on 'repair', get to the 'select a system image backup'. Select 'use the latest available system image (recommended). Click 'next' I get the message 'all disk to be restored will be formatted and replaced with the layout and data in the system image'. Click Yes. But then got an error saying:

"The system image restore failed. The disk that is set as active in BIOS is too small to recover the original system disk. Replace the disk with a larger one and retry the restore operation. (0x80042407)"

Disk is completely empty with only 1 partition (deleted all partitions and reformatted and then created one). Before motherboard problem I had several partitions, but I imagine that restore would recreate them. Why do I get 'disk to small error' when I am restoring on the same disk? RAID configuration problem? Could stripe size be an issue here?

Image Restore Can't Find Backup Image?

Aug 24, 2009

I need a little help figuring this out. I made a backup image a while back on my network. Now that I want to re-image, I reboot as requested, wait for it to load, and Windows says it can't find my backup, "if it is on a network, close this window , type the network location."Putting in the network location does nothing, I'm just returned to the screen where it would list the backup image if it had found it, but there's nothing there.Thinking perhaps my NAS was the problem I copied the image onto a portable hard drive, but after rebooting into the restore program, Windows 7 doesn't find the USB drive.

Need An OS Image When Create An Image?

I am attempting to create a backup image of my Windows 7 OS but when using the native Backup utility I only see a way to create an image with all of my files attached to the image when all I want is just a backup of just the barebones system. I lost my original Windows 7 Install disk so was hoping there was a way to get a copy of the OS since I just recently ordered an SSD. Basically I was hoping to move my OS install over to the SSD while keeping my files on my current HDD intact.

Restoring Windows Image On Other PC?

Jan 18, 2012

we have two different PC's[PC1 and PC2](hardware totally different) PC1 After preparing all my windows 7 (installing programs, configuring them, installing updates, activating programs and so on) I make my drive C: total image back up to external hard drive. PC2 I Boot up windows 7 recovery startup and choose restore from image and then I put in external hard drive with usb and make it restored on my other computer. Everything looks fine, it finishes with no errors and then system restarts. When windows are finishing to show "Windows starting" screen, computer restarts instantly. Then system autimatically suggests me to repair it, so ok then auto repairs are scaning and guess what it can't repair, because it finds some kind of problem with drivers, could be that they are incompatible with my new PC.how to make this work, how to fix issue that old PC's drivers are being loaded, maybe I am able to turn it off so default drivers are being loaded? The reason why I want to make this work cause I want to use it for multiple computers.

Simple summary:

PC1 Windows Image backed up to external HDD
PC2 Windows Image restored from external HDD
PC2 Windows can't start because of driver error
