After i bought my sony vaio VPCEF3E1E/WI i didn't received a windows CD but when i turned on the laptop it installed windows from an windows 7 image on C: or X: . Does anyone know how i can start that image to repair my laptop using a command prompt
View 1 RepliesIs there a quicker way to copy image? MS instructions is causing my dvd drive errors when I'm copying image to cd disk. MS istructions are giving you two ways to copy your HD image. Both sets of options are showing media too small error and when I go and check if anything is showing copied image nothing is on that disk. I'm using cd-r 700 mb disks from Best Buy.

Wonder if I should have ordered converter to IDE although I will be doing this via remote with a user who's nervous about opening case.If I can capture the image and it will reimage onto PC HD, then I have the PAR disk to adapt it to new hardware.

Most of our employees work from home or are out of state in small, temporary offices. Currently, if a user gets a virus or has a BSOD (or any other issue), and I can't remote to the laptop over the Internet, I have to setup a new laptop at headquarters and ship it to their location. I need a solution that will allow me to re-install our custom image to the laptop, with no CDs or thumb drives. Possible a hidden partition on the laptop that contains a WIM file. Then I can walk the user through a couple simple .bat command that would initiate the re-install of the OS (we have the user's data backed up so that is not an issue).

View 5 Replies View Relatedfirst off let me say I am not 100% sure where to post this in the first place but I thought here is at least a start.My wife rendered her laptop without a working screen a little while ago which I replaced. But her HDD now will not boot or even read on a all in one HDD reading device. So i cannot access the info on it. I was dumb and did NOT make a image/backup of the drive. Warranty is out. I have a brand new HDD (same make and model) but do NOT have a legal copy of Windows 7 (business I think was on it). I am somewhat at a loss as what to do.My buddy suggested 'getting' a copy of Windows 7 and the using a CD key changer to make it match the one on the back of the laptop but I was hoping there was something to do more on the legal side of things and still not pay any more money. It is not a very expensive laptop and I have already almost doubled its cost replacing this stuff.

View 7 Replies View RelatedIve owned a dell studio 1558 laptop for almost 2 years now and have recently been experiencing some overheating issues, among my many solutions "new thermal paste, cleaning the inside" and a virus scan using Avast, which discovered a four digit number of corrupted files followed by their deletion and subsequent problems due to now missing some .dll files making me unable to run anything or access the internet. Ive decided I should restore the laptop to its factory settings which I believe I have done before. The problem now is that once I reach the Advance boot menu using F8, I press enter on the "repair your computer" option which is followed by a bar saying windows is loading files, lasting one second, and then windows loads up and nothing changed.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was using recovery manager to reset my laptop (ACER 5470G) back to factory settings. The image failed to copy across. I then got Boot Mgr is Missing - I have tried, everything it states on the internet and even bought some software WIN RE to carry out the recovery but nothing works. I have tried to reinstall W7 ISO and W7 full installation software but it all has failed. The message i get with the full install disc and iso is that the system i have to select a drive PQ, F and C, the only option I have is C, but when I try it states it can't do it. I tried Ubuntu and it did work, so I presume the HDD is ok. I did have Zone Alarm Data-lock installed on it and I don't know if that is preventing the re-install. I tried to install XP, but that just dies out.

The only option available is my hard drive partition on which i also had saved a system image. Though windows recommends External hard drive for backing up image when backing up the system.

Now that I want to re-image, I reboot as requested, wait for it to load, and Windows says it can't find my backup, "if it is on a network, close this window , type the network location."Putting in the network location does nothing, I'm just returned to the screen where it would list the backup image if it had found it, but there's nothing there.Thinking perhaps my NAS was the problem I copied the image onto a portable hard drive, but after rebooting into the restore program, Windows 7 doesn't find the USB drive.

I lost my original Windows 7 Install disk so was hoping there was a way to get a copy of the OS since I just recently ordered an SSD. Basically I was hoping to move my OS install over to the SSD while keeping my files on my current HDD intact.

My machine is making a weird sound and I want to be prepared for the worst before I let a technician touch it.I'm running Windows 7 on my PC and am backing up files to a Microsoft Home Server but want a complete "copy" of my PC system (programs, files, settings, etc.).My head is starting to spin with everthing I've read and heard about cloning and imaging not to mention all the software choices (cloud or external hard drive) and if external hard drive is the way to go, which one.

Destination HD was error free. Source HD had bad clusters replaced in five files.Second attempt to create a disk image failed with the same message.There are no system symptoms, everything seems to be working as usual.
View 9 Replies View Relatedwe have two different PC's[PC1 and PC2](hardware totally different) PC1 After preparing all my windows 7 (installing programs, configuring them, installing updates, activating programs and so on) I make my drive C: total image back up to external hard drive. PC2 I Boot up windows 7 recovery startup and choose restore from image and then I put in external hard drive with usb and make it restored on my other computer. Everything looks fine, it finishes with no errors and then system restarts. When windows are finishing to show "Windows starting" screen, computer restarts instantly.Then system autimatically suggests me to repair it, so ok then auto repairs are scaning and guess what it can't repair, because it finds some kind of problem with drivers, could be that they are incompatible with my new PC.how to make this work, how to fix issue that old PC's drivers are being loaded, maybe I am able to turn it off so default drivers are being loaded?The reason why I want to make this work cause I want to use it for multiple computers.

View 6 Replies View Relatedhaving a difficult issue with a customer who gets the following message when opening some but not all .exe files. Soz about the long message but ill list the things i have tried."C:Windowssystem32ajpjDhglj.DLL is either not designed to run on windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or software vendow for support."The error pops up for the same file name if i run say malwarebytes or explorer but not with Ccleaner. Clicking ok gets rid of the message and the program runs anyway.I thought the file name looked virus like but nothing gets picked up by malwarebytes or MSE. If i look for the file in System32 it is not there and is not hidden either. I searched drive C for the file and to my surprise it came up but in WindowssysWOW64 instead but all the letters were in caps this time. If i Scan it with MSE i get nothing but if i scan it or any other single file with malwarebytes the error changes to "C:WindowssysWOW64AJPJDHGLJ.DLL is either not designed to run on windows or.Most bad image threads ive read can be fixed by doing a SFC /SCANNOW but it doesnt work for me. Ill try updating him to sp1 in the meantime.

I'm in the process of stripping down a copy of Windows 7 to be small enough for that, but that's something else. I need to be able to install the reduced copy of Windows 7 and our own software and then probably use Norton Ghost to create an image that I can just apply to every one of these computers we make in the future. Is there a way of creating this image from within my main OS instead of just creating and booting to a separate partition?
