Auto Connect To Vpn Upon System Restart
Jul 20, 2009
I need to connect to a VPN in order to use my university's exchange email client.Does anybody know if I can define it to connect automatically when my system starts? As it is, I need to manually connect each time (which isn't that difficult, but I rather not having to do it).

Well i thought that turning off the option for auto restart when a system failure occurs would be a good idea so i could see a blue screen of death so i could determine the problem with my computer but it did nothing. My computer still restarts whenever.

I now have W 7 Home premium. I have windows update set to auto update. As I was checking email and just cruizin the net etc. My pc just shut down and restarted. I discovered that it was the auto update. I want to continue to use auto update, but I don't want my pc to shut down and restart even though it warns me.

I am hooked up to a UPS, but after that runs out and I am away, I sometimes need to remotely logon - in which case I need the computer on. If I need to change something in the BIOS, please give specifics of how to do this as I have looked in there and found nothing related to this.

My friend is having problems with her computer. When she boots up, after she logs in, all of the programs start on start up, then it runs for about 45 seconds, and then auto restarts. She's tried getting into Safe Mode via F8, but it just ignores the commands and goes to the log in screen. Whatever other information is needed, let me know.

Okay, so I know how to make a wireless Ad-Hoc connection. My question is, is there any way for the machine hosting the Ad-Hoc connection to connect to it automatically on startup so other machines don't have to wait for the host machine to connect to its own Ad-Hoc connection?

I have a hidden network but I have it so it auto-connects. But the problem is that whenever I log in it doesn't auto-connect. So I go in the list of networks, click "Other Network" and type in my SSID. It says it's connecting but then it says there was a problem connecting. So I troubleshoot and it troubleshoots and when its done it says there is a problem with my wireless adapter or access point and it fixed it and I have internet.

I have a really annoying issue with my wireless network whereby on start-up or resume my lappy won't automatically connect to my wireless connection despite the fact that "automatically connect" is checked in properties and the wireless adapter is enabled.
There are currently 4 available wireless networks, 1 which is mine and 3 which must belong to neighbours. If I right-click on any of those other 3 the only option available is connect and it seems they can't be configured, the problem with this being that if I left-click them the "connect automatically" box is always checked. If I uncheck the box, the next time I left-click that connection the "connect automatically" box is checked again. I am wondering if this is causing a conflict whereby Windows 7 doesn't actually connect automatically to any of them as they are all checked...? The only way to connect is if I manually click "connect"...?

I have a internet connection which needs user name and password to connect.I need to connect it automatically at a particular time and also get it disconnected. When I was in Win XP I used to use RASDIAL command.I would create a batch file with RASDIAL Broadband USERNAME PASSWORD command and then use a scheduler to execute it at the needed time. But that time I also connected my modem by USB port. Now I connect my modem through LAN cable and the same batch file is not working.

My computer has worked fine (relatively) since i built it in... 2007. Two weeks ago i stopped being able to use the wifi card on the computer. It kept getting an error saying it failed to start. Uninstalling the drivers/reinstalling/updating them didn't seem to do anything.Eventually I did a Windows repair, took the card out, uninstalled the drivers, put the card back in and it worked. The only side effect, is that my PC no longer remembers the password of the router. I have to double click my SSID each time and re-enter the password. Its getting kinda annoying. WLAN AutoConfig is running as an automatic start.
My computer is:
AMD: Athlon 64 X2 5200+ 2991 MHz
Mobo: Gigabyte M57SLI-S4 v.2
RAM: 4GB Mushkin DDR2 PC2-6400
OS: Win 7 64bit
VC: Geforce GTX 470
WiFI: Gigabyte GN-WP01GS PCI WLAN Card(Turbo)

I have two computers and I use them both a lot. They are both for work. I have Input Defender to allow me to use my mouse on both screens. Unfortunately, quite often my laptop seems to boot up and isn't connected to the network at all. I have to restart it and / or just wait till it decides to connect. Sometimes hours.
How can I figure out why it's not connecting to the the network and / or Internet.

Toshiba Satellite M645-S4065 (LAPTOP)
CPU: Intel Core i3 M370 2.40GHz dual-core
RAM: 4GB
System type: 64-bit
1) When I restart, my computer stays stuck at the "Shutting Down..." screen for 15 minutes. I then get a BSOD, then it restarts, I get the prompt to start up as safe mode, etc., and then I'm back to the main screen. The BSOD reads: driver_power_state_failure
2) Connecting to the internet, whether by my phone's hotspot or ethernet cord is really problematic, especially by cord. It often hangs and I have to restart the computer or wait a really long time. The taskbar icon hangs with the spinning Aero circle perpetually. And attempting to open the networking controls just freezes.

Generally once or twice a day, my computer will suddenly drop its internet connection. It will then start an endless loop of trying to connect: Sensing the network is there Trying to connect (With the loading symbol and "Initializing")Appearing to connect successfully (but when I try an open a web page, nothing loads, and I receive an error message telling me there's no connection)A few seconds later, the yellow triangular warning sign appears next to the wireless bar.A few seconds after that, it drops the connection, and then starts over at step oneA few seconds later, it will start again at step one.The only way I am able to get the network back on is to: Disconnect manually (press "disconnect")Turn of my wireless antenna on my computer Turn on and off my router Turn back on the antenna Reconnect.I have to do these 5 steps every time it disconnects. This is only happening on this one computer - other computers on the network aren't experiencing the problem (running XP and Win 7).I have an Asus U56E-BAL7.

I have a 64 bit system on my main drive and a 32 bit system on my secondary hard drive. When I start my computer it asks me which operation system I want to start windows in and I choose 64 bit. My hard drive with the 32 bit system is corrupted and I haven't used it in months so I want to remove it from asking me which system to run. I want the 64 system to automatically start without me needing to choose it.

I have a number of systems with various flavors of Windows 7 installed - x64, x86, Home Premium, Ultimate, and so on. Some were factory installs, some were installed by me at various times.Although I manually configured an IPv6 address on each system, they all exhibit the problem of using an automatically-generated IPv6 address instead of the one I have configured. This makes it difficult to connect to servers which use IP addresses for access control, as the automatically-generated addresses change on reboot.[code] one which I have hard-coded, an auto-generated one marked "preferred" and another auto-generated one which is not marked "preferred". When I try to access another IPv6 host on the same LAN, the connection comes from the 2430:1432:1:2:60ee:fe68:8697:cf8a address.I've searched for a way to force Windows to use the IPv6 address I configured and I haven't found anything that worked.

But when I either simply Restart, or Shut Down then restart, the CHKDSK does not run. I am using Windows 7 Home Premium.

The system automatically restarts and i Select run windows normally again it restarts and gives BSOD. I can run windows in Safe mode, and safe mode with networking. When it restarts i hit run windows normally, it runs everything is fine. The boom BSOD.

I have system crashes of two varieties, that have happened under both Windows 7 and Windows Vista : Sometimes (not all the time) the system will reboot when I choose shutdown/restart/hibernate/sleep and leave an Event 41 (Kernel Power) Task 63 in the EventViewer. This crash will happen many times in a row and then not at all for a week or two and then happen many times in a row.

So, I've been having a bunch of problems with BSODs lately and I've been struggling to find the cause because even after disabling automatic restart in the system properties, the damn thing still restarts. All I get is the Windows Error Reporting service starting up when the computer reboots and telling me my computer just Blue Screened. I'm pretty sure I could figure out what it is (I already know it's not RAM, because I ran memtest on it for 13 hours with no results) if I just could get at that error code on the blue screen, but that's hard to do when you never even see it.
