I have a hidden network but I have it so it auto-connects. But the problem is that whenever I log in it doesn't auto-connect. So I go in the list of networks, click "Other Network" and type in my SSID. It says it's connecting but then it says there was a problem connecting. So I troubleshoot and it troubleshoots and when its done it says there is a problem with my wireless adapter or access point and it fixed it and I have internet.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a really annoying issue with my wireless network whereby on start-up or resume my lappy won't automatically connect to my wireless connection despite the fact that "automatically connect" is checked in properties and the wireless adapter is enabled.
There are currently 4 available wireless networks, 1 which is mine and 3 which must belong to neighbours. If I right-click on any of those other 3 the only option available is connect and it seems they can't be configured, the problem with this being that if I left-click them the "connect automatically" box is always checked. If I uncheck the box, the next time I left-click that connection the "connect automatically" box is checked again. I am wondering if this is causing a conflict whereby Windows 7 doesn't actually connect automatically to any of them as they are all checked...? The only way to connect is if I manually click "connect"...?
I have a internet connection which needs user name and password to connect.I need to connect it automatically at a particular time and also get it disconnected.When I was in Win XP I used to use RASDIAL command.I would create a batch file with RASDIAL Broadband USERNAME PASSWORD command and then use a scheduler to execute it at the needed time.But that time I also connected my modem by USB port.Now I connect my modem through LAN cable and the same batch file is not working.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy computer has worked fine (relatively) since i built it in... 2007. Two weeks ago i stopped being able to use the wifi card on the computer. It kept getting an error saying it failed to start. Uninstalling the drivers/reinstalling/updating them didn't seem to do anything.Eventually I did a Windows repair, took the card out, uninstalled the drivers, put the card back in and it worked.The only side effect, is that my PC no longer remembers the password of the router. I have to double click my SSID each time and re-enter the password. Its getting kinda annoying. WLAN AutoConfig is running as an automatic start.

After entering the credentials, he is automatically forwarded to the url he first attempted to access (rediurl variable)
I have valid credentials, but for several different reasons, I am trying to find a way to have my computer automatically enter this credentials for me without having to go to the login screen, and re-submit the credentials) I obviously use autocomplete, but one of the main reason I am trying to do this, is because the sessions times out every 3 hours, so if I want to remote access my desktop, I can only do within 3 hours of the last authentication. After that, the desktop is unreachable.
This authentication page has a simple form that sends the following values: http://x.x.x:8000/index.php?redirurl...ass=mypassword (auth_user and auth_pass are hidden values)
Does anyone know of a way to automatically, periodically, re-submit the credentials? Through URL, or any other way?
We set up three new terminals this week at the office; they're all running Win 7 Pro 32-bit. I set them all up simultaneously (literally sat at a desk and entered the same keystrokes at each of them), so I don't see any obvious reason that one is behaving differently from the other two. The essential problem is that the terminal doesn't see the Internet. Here are all the particulars that I think might be interesting, listed in no particular order:
- The terminal ran fine for several hours. Email access, Internet access, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. At that point, the user called me to show me a dialog box. I used System Restore to go back in time to 9 a.m. in case the user had somehow managed to do anything (though she's not an admin).
- IPv6 is disabled.
- The workplace uses Static IPs. The IP address is entered correctly in the IPv4 properties (x.x.x.213), but at cmd / ipconfig, I get this result: "Autoconfiguration IPv4 address: 169.254.95.187"
- In Network and Sharing Center, the network (which is only known as Unidentified Network) is set to type Public. When I reset it to type Work and reboot, it resets to type Public.
I bought a Asus U36J laptop back in April of last year and ever since then I have been beating around an issue that I dont seem to be able to resolve one way or the other. When ever the laptop is on battery and in battery saving mode it has my taskbar on autohide. If I turn that off, then it stays off right until it is put back into battery saving mode at which point it is "magically" ticked on again.
Is there no way to simply disable that feature, as its annoying me greatly. I know its tied into the battery saving desktop, and I want to keep the battery saving desktop but want a full taskbar all the time. I found a supposed fix to make that happen, and while it actually makes the taskbar appear all the time, it still is a bad hack as any windows I have open wont "attach" to the taskbar but attaches to the buttom of the screen.
So for the love of god is there no sane way for me to keep the battery saving desktop but get rid of the autohiding taskbar. Otherwise I know Asus most likely wont be my laptop of choice next time aroumd.

Windows reports 'No connections are available' and Occasionally jumps to 'identifying network' then back to 'No connections are available' until it gets a connection. Once connected everything works perfectly until i reboot the machine. The network connection is fine as other computers can connect quickly without problems through the same cable.

Whenever I go to load a page, it tells me the dns cannot be found, which is strange because vuze and xbox live still work fine.I have this issue with any browser I've tried (IE, FF, GC; all most recent as far as I'm aware). The computers on the Dir-655 Network can't connect to the printer on the 2wire network but can ping the computer it is connected to.

I also have a BluRay player connected via Ethernet cable to my gateway (cable modem + router), but I cannot see it (I can play Netflix movies on it, though). View 6 Replies View RelatedI have 3 computers all running 64bit Windows Home premium all have 802.11n cards. 2 have no problem connecting to the wireless network the 3rd can see the network but won't connect or has the dreaded yellow exclamation mark with limited connectivity.
This seems to be a windows issue but not sure. When I look at the wireless profile in windows it says the security is WEP but the router is set up as WPA-2. I have tried changing the setting in Windows to WPA-2 but that then generates another error in the network discovery window saying the settings are not correct or something to that effect.
1) I have reinstalled the driver didn't work.
2) I have removed the security altogether didn't work.
3) reset the router didn't work (Although as stated earlier the other 2 computers connect with no problems)
4) Deleted wireless profile and started again didn't work.
The following worked untill I restarted the computer but would not after that even if I applied the same steps.
1) Assigned a static IP - This worked but once I restarted the computer it would no longer connect. Tired different IP address from 192.168.1-149. No joy
2)Copied the network profile from both the other machines same result as #1.
I have been using windows 7 pto and xp pro on my laptop and desktop respectively. It was connected in same network from very beginning. I was in same workgroup. But as I reformatted my laptop cpl of days back I needed to connect it again with my xp desktop. since then I am not able to do so. Have been tried almost everything. I am in a same workgroup also have run the network wizard from xp. But nothing working. But just few hours ago i uninstalled few drivers (IPv6 related , not sure) while trying to connect from device manager.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have VPN service running on my Linksys DD-WRT router at home, so I can VPN back into my home network when using unsecured wireless internet on travel. I also have remote desktop port forwarding to my home machine if I want to just remote desktop in without using the VPN. However, often times I will VPN in, then remote desktop to my machine. Lately, I can VPN in, but can't see any other machines on the network so remote desktop to the machine's 192.168.x.x address on the local network doesn't work. I used to be able to do this and I'm not sure what has changed. The home machine runs Windows 7 and the laptop I use on the road for VPN'ing back in runs Windows XP. why after I VPN in to the home network I can't see any other machines on the network anymore? I have a folder shared on the home machine that I'd like to map to my laptop once I've VPN'ed in but can't do that either since it can't see the machine.
I've got all the sharing options enabled on the Windows 7 machine as well as the XP machine. Network discovery is turned on as well. No clue what has happened with this. The DHCP pool is 192.168.1.2-150 and the VPN pool consists of only 2 addresses of 192.168.1.160 and 192.168.1.161.
Each time i try to connect to a pc on my work network , a message is displayed "You dont have permission to access \DINA-PC. contact your network administrator to request access".
1- i can access all other pc's on the same network
2- other pc's on the same network can access \DINA-pc
3- Both DINA-PC and mine are allowing network discovery and file sharing and password protected sharing is off.
4- \DINA-PC can access my pc
