Change The BIOS For Auto Restart After Power Outage
May 24, 2012I am hooked up to a UPS, but when that runs out and I am away, I sometimes need to be able to remotely logon to my computer. Is there a way to get the BIOS to automatically restart the computer after the UPS runs out when the power goes out?

Aug 23, 2011I've got an Acer Model As5742 Laptop with an i5 480M processor and 8 GB of good Ram. I'm running Win 7 Pro 64 Bit. It's only about 5 months old and this started about a month ago. I have no other problems. IE: Blue Screens or Lockups or anything, just the Bios clock changes to a random date and time after every restart. I replaced the Bios battery twice and it only effects the chore of having to reset the time in Windows every time I boot.
I'm going to send it to Acer to be repaired within a week or two, but maybe it's not a bad timing mechanism in the motherboard and one of you people have a correct solution to it. Which will save me the trouble of sending it in for a motherboard replacement.
I do have all the drivers and bios updates installed. Oh yes I've ran about 15 different virus Etc. Malware scans with several different products and they all come back clean. I ran System File Checker SFC /scannow from the command prompt several times that also comes back OK.
Auto-update Restart On Its Own?
Jan 17, 2012I now have W 7 Home premium. I have windows update set to auto update. As I was checking email and just cruizin the net etc. My pc just shut down and restarted. I discovered that it was the auto update. I want to continue to use auto update, but I don't want my pc to shut down and restart even though it warns me.

Dec 23, 2012I usually consider myself having some idea about computers but this things is out of my league. [code] My computer has been getting BSOD'S for several days after installing java 7 update 8.I somehow managed to get system back on it's track for few times with cd/usb booting but now, when i start it i just get a black screen no beeps at all and back, gpu and cpu fans are working on max.Tried reseting bios with clr cmos button and taking the bios battery out but nothing helps.I thought it could be hardware error and as there was black screen i suspected the gpu which was making problems before the fan came off so I replaced it with accelero l2 pro.I don't think it's the mobo problem because when i remove both ram sticks i get like 8 beeps until it restarts and everything repeats.But on the other hand how could it be hardware problem if comp autorecovered bios.I also thought about flashing the bios but the boot is set to floppy so i am not sure how would that work out.

Nov 21, 2011have been playing battlefield 3 since came out.no problems.but 3 days i think after i installed 285.79 nvidia beta drivers after ~15 minutes of playing computer freezes.even curson doesnt move..i only can restart..but i only noticed freezes during the game..and not always but most of restarts are followed by (i havent counted) ~8-10 beeps and computer opens..bios is award..i didnt find any beep codes for that since award has no that kind of beeps regarding to the internet..and the beeps doesnt come on post screen..it comes right after i push restart button...

May 20, 2012I bought a Asus U36J laptop back in April of last year and ever since then I have been beating around an issue that I dont seem to be able to resolve one way or the other. When ever the laptop is on battery and in battery saving mode it has my taskbar on autohide. If I turn that off, then it stays off right until it is put back into battery saving mode at which point it is "magically" ticked on again.
Is there no way to simply disable that feature, as its annoying me greatly. I know its tied into the battery saving desktop, and I want to keep the battery saving desktop but want a full taskbar all the time. I found a supposed fix to make that happen, and while it actually makes the taskbar appear all the time, it still is a bad hack as any windows I have open wont "attach" to the taskbar but attaches to the buttom of the screen.
So for the love of god is there no sane way for me to keep the battery saving desktop but get rid of the autohiding taskbar. Otherwise I know Asus most likely wont be my laptop of choice next time aroumd.

I restarted the PC and restarted the setup and I got the same message. I updated the Mother Board Bios and restarted the setup I got the same message. I have tried both options (get update and no update during the setup). And it didn't work.

Jun 7, 2012I've been getting a series of system freezes (black screen, clock on my Logitech gaming keyboard freezing for ~20s before the system resets) and BSODs for about 5 and a half months. Looking through the Event Viewer the first seems to have been 19th Jan 2012 while the latest was today. There seems to be no pattern to when they happen - some as soon as the Windows desktop loads, others after the PC has been on and running fine for hours. Most of the time I get freezes but from time to time I get the blue screens with errors such as 0x4e, 0x19, 0xA, 0xC2 and 0x24. Various internet searches have told me it could be hardware-related (particularly memory) or something to do with the registry. I did install two new memory sticks (the Corsair ones) around the 15th Jan (4 days before the first crash) and I seem to remember the system crashing during a programme install at around the same time. Looking through the Event Viewer shows each crash (84 to date) is marked by "Critical 07/06/2012 18:07:51 Kernel-Power Event ID:41 Task Category63)" with a total of 17 different BugcheckCodes of which 78 is the most common, followed by 26.
I've attached all the SF Diagnostics, CPU-Z and RAMMon readouts in the following zip file:MrCheeseUK-Seven Forums.zipforgot to say that I've tried the Windows chkdsk and memory diagnostic and both came back clean (though the system crashed when Windows had booted right after the most recent memory diagnostic).
Samsung Series 3 Laptop?
Nov 16, 2012I have a Samsung NP300E5A-A03US laptop, It has it's own interface for it's updates, it keeps telling me I need a bios update, I have called Samsung support, chatted with Samsung techs. I have done this update at least 15 times, 2 different ways. The tier 2 tech told me that I didn't need the update, He said why do you think that your computer needs a bios update,and I said, because I keep getting these messages that I need it, and it is in the interface as needed. He said, you don't really need it, I said, why does it tell me I need the update. He said ,is your computer ok?, I said, it has some performance issues, and it turns stuff on and off by itself.I have talked to at least 5 different people ,they all make me go thru the same steps. I keep telling them, this won't work, I have tried it ten times. They are starting to get rude. I googled bios updates and Samsung, and a lot of posts came up. Can someone help me and also to understand what bios is, it says it helps with computer stability.

However when I tried installing 64 bit RC1, there wasn't any driver included and it showed up in device manager as "Standard VGA adapter". I've been looking around but the only 64 bit driver I found for this card only works for XP, and 7 refuses to install it. Any help?
