Split The Work Load Between Both Processors
Jan 20, 2009I have just purchased Halo 2 for Microsoft Windows Vista. It runs but there is one problem......It runs choppy when in a room with multiple people or a lot of "action". I have the graphics turned as low as possible and the screen resolution all the way down too. One thing i did notice is that when running the game it only runs off one of my Intel Pentium Core 2 processors. My questions is: Does anyone know how to fix the problem? Is there a way to split the work load between both processors?

Sep 7, 2008I bought an ASUS Striker II Formula, and it the DVD it has comes with a lot a stuff to install. One of them is AI Suite, which has a couple of features including the OC program AI booster. For some reason when I try to OC to over 10%, Vista won't load. If anyone knows a better OC program please tell me or help me with this program. The version of AI Suite is 1.03.16. Just so you know, when I overclock to 10%, my CPU temperature stays at or under 40 degrees Celsius. When every CPU core is a 100%, the temperature is 56 degrees Celsius.

Oct 10, 2008i have Corsair XMS2 DDR2 1GBx2 memory sticks in my computer, i installed vista with this Ram and then after installation decided to place another 2GB's of RAM. My issue currently is that Windows Vista will not load with 4GB's of Ram or even 3GB's. When i try to re-install Windows Vista with the new RAM in my pc restarts before installation begins, when i plug the ram in and try to run Vista normally, it either restarts at the loading screen or just crashes completely......
I have heard that there is a windows update which may resolve this issue however you need 3GB's of RAM installed, which my computer wont allow. Any Bios related or any solution in general, could you please go into great detail and if possible step by step guides of how to fix this problem, i have a basic bios knowledge however take my knowledge as 0. (I have also Updated Vista to SP1 and have completed all Vital Updates)
Can't Vista Load
Mar 24, 2008the problem is that i can't get vista to load. it has told me that winlog.exe is corrupt and that i need to run start up repair. the main problem with this is that windows won't start so i can't run the repair program i have ran the advanced boot options as suggested in the help and support options. i dont see the repair comp option. i have tried every other option, nothing is working. what do i do? and more importantly how do i do it?

Jul 21, 2009My situation i have a set duel channel 1 gig a-dat memory ddr 400 2gig total memory works for 3 years, still works great. I bought the same memory, set duel channel 1 gig a-dat memory ddr 400 and installed them on my vista 64 bit system the bios reads 4gig np but windows will not load (windows error recovery) no specific error listed. I then took out my original memory and left the new in the newly used duel chanel slots on my motherboard. Both the new memory and the previuosly unused ram slots work fine. I have repeatly installed all 4 gig same problem (windows error recovery) and always works fine with either set of in either duel chanels on my motherboard. I have windows vista 64 bit.

Oct 14, 2009I just purchased a new HP desktop, INtel core 2 Quad processor, 64 bit performance with 8gb of ram, 1 Terrabyte hard drive. It came with Vista home premium 64 bit edition. I had previously purchased Vista Ultimate for a laptop that no longer works. When I downloaded Vista Ultimate I put in the 32 bit instead of the 64. I am not able to do a restore to go back to the way I purchased it. I am not very computer savvy. And what would be the down fall for keeping the 32 bit installed (somone had told me I wouldn't be using the full capicity of the computer).

When performing the suggested restart to complete the install, I received this error ""Windows failed to start. I tried the Vista Repair option multiple times and though it indicated success, I still could not start windows. I then attempted to perform a restore from three separate restore points, each time it stated to reboot as if all was well, but returned the same errors with alternating bad files PxHelp20 or winload. I went to the Vista repair utility command prompt and attempted to run sfc /scannow, but was given "Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service."
Blue Screen When Load Vista Install
Mar 23, 2008I've been getting the same blue screen as early as attempting to load the Vista install PE environment from the DVD. Would like some specifics as to what that is pointing to. Initially, I had a bad stick of RAM. I have since RMA'd the RAM, and tested the new RAM. I'm not showing any errors with the new RAM. It does it irregardless of 64 bit mode, or 128 bit mode. It does it, when I add a second stick of RAM however.

Jul 1, 2008I have been wracking my brain for weeks now, trying to play C&C First Decade with Red Alert 2 Yuri's Revenge over the LAN, it will only run on IPX networking which I could setup with 2x XP machines, I have Vista Ultimate on my PC, and XP on another, I found some drivers for IPX to work on Vista, didn't work ... So I loaded Hamachi which had built-in IPX support. Now when I open RA2, it no longer says IPX unavailable, it shows 00 00 00...
So it can see my Hamachi adapter with IPX support, great! The other XP machine has Hamachi installed, and they are both VPN'd (Connected) on the same Hamachi Network. They don't see each other... The XP machine shows a few IPX networks, I have tried switching to them all, even put the Hamachi adapter and the LAN adapter to the top of the preferred networks list. This was sort-of a breeze with both XP, but with Vista it's looking to be a bit tricky. I have no firewalls running on either machine and I am pretty cluey when it comes to networking (TCP/IP that is).

I recently updated the BIOS on the board (DP35DP) and it does show all of the 4GB of Kingston ValueRam PC800 1.8v (2x2gb) installed. May 11, 2008My eight year old Dell finally bit the dust and bought a new Gateway preloaded with Norton AV. I have a paid subscription through 01/09 with Windows One Care that I have used for three years with my Dell and never had problems with it. I have always disliked the hoggy Norton and McAfee AV's and will uninstall Norton on the new pc using the uninstall download from Symantec and probably some manual removal as well.
My question is : will WOC work with Vista?? Or should I use some of the free AV's ie Avast, AVG free, etc etc. My pc is only two days old and I don't want to spend days attempting to download new programs and fight with firewalls and potentially messing up new pc.
Possible To Work HP PSC 500 With Vista
Mar 23, 2008I have tried everything possible to get my HP PSC 500 to work with Vista, I had no problems with XP. The driver is there, but it presents an error when I go to print. I have contacted HP and they tell me because my machine, which is in perfect working condition, is 5 yrs old it will not work with Vista. May 14, 2008I've been dealing with this horrendous excuse for an email program for about 2 months now (thus my display name. my new computer came with Home Premium VISTA. I'm seriously thinking of getting my old original copy of XP installed back in my computer at some point. I'd do it myself, but I want to make sure I don't lose anything in the process. I've lost enough because of this fiasco already.
1) I can no longer use a rather expensive program that I bought to build web sites for small businesses (so therefore this also had a direct impact on my income as well as my frustration level). It won't work with Windows VISTA (because it's not a Microsoft product, of course).
2) I receive most email, but I have to check the spam folder constantly -- since I work online from home, and receive a good bit of business email at home that will often contain links, etc., VISTA reads it as "phishing" email and dumps it. And some it seems to dump in there for absolutely no reason at all...........

I am wondering how much I will regret upgrading with this free disk. The system has a Pentuim 4 3.1 G CPU and only 512MB of RAM. I would really like to put vista on it but....512 MB of ram is not the 1GB they recommend. Is anyone running a system like this? What will happen? Will it just run slow and not have Aero because the graphics are not up to par either or will there be other problems?
