I see that Microsoft is not going to offer XP any longer. Do they have any plans to get Vista to work with Outlook? I have Outlook 2000 and I have to enter the password each and everytime i log on, it is aggrivating. I am looking for another email program that has the tasks, that are as easy to use as Outlooks.
View 6 RepliesI have a desktop that I upgraded from XP Pro to Vista Ultimate and a laptop running on Windows XP Pro. I recently upgraded both devices from Office 2003 to Office 2007. Before I upgraded the desktop to Vista, I copy the Outlook.pst back and forth the two machines to synchronize my e-mail. Now that the desktop is running on Vista and the laptop still running XP Pro, can I do the same thing to synchronize my e-mail or is there a better solution in synchronizing the pst files.

It is supposed that it wasnt colsed correctly, but I have uninsatalled / installed 4 times all the office (with all updates included), but still does not work. In one of those I even deleted the folder "microsoft office" in the folder "program files". Since I have been trying to solve this issue since one week ago, I am desesperate.
I'm learning to use Vista (new computer purchased yesterday) and my old PC as XP and Office 2003. I only use the calendar feature of Outlook and was wondering if there's a way to import my outlook file (outlook.pst) to Vista Calendar (seems to only import .ics files) as I don't yet have Outlook 2007 installed on my Vista PC.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been wracking my brain for weeks now, trying to play C&C First Decade with Red Alert 2 Yuri's Revenge over the LAN, it will only run on IPX networking which I could setup with 2x XP machines, I have Vista Ultimate on my PC, and XP on another, I found some drivers for IPX to work on Vista, didn't work ... So I loaded Hamachi which had built-in IPX support. Now when I open RA2, it no longer says IPX unavailable, it shows 00 00 00...
So it can see my Hamachi adapter with IPX support, great! The other XP machine has Hamachi installed, and they are both VPN'd (Connected) on the same Hamachi Network. They don't see each other... The XP machine shows a few IPX networks, I have tried switching to them all, even put the Hamachi adapter and the LAN adapter to the top of the preferred networks list. This was sort-of a breeze with both XP, but with Vista it's looking to be a bit tricky. I have no firewalls running on either machine and I am pretty cluey when it comes to networking (TCP/IP that is).
Can outlook be run on vista? I need a calendar solution - something that's compatible with my blackberry and windows calendar is not, so I'm trying to figure out if I can use outlook with vista.

All of the MS Office programs installed and opened just fine except for MS Outlook, when I open MSOutlook, I receive an error message advising me that Windows VISTA encountered a problem and must close. View 9 Replies View RelatedBack in the 60s the saying about Ma Bell was "We don't care - we don't have to." The feedback on these threads makes me think that it's time to resurrect that saying. Microsoft is not the 2nd party - Norton and McAfee are the 2nd parties - we buy their software. Microsoft is the 3rd party that installs their oh-so software on our computers and then expects us to uninstall or disable the functions of the 2d party software in order for their 3rd party software to work. Truly Ma Bell thinking on Microsoft's part.
So I give up - I'll not be using Windows Mail. The question now is whether I continue to have two computers running - my old laptop that has Outlook Express that has NEVER been a problem. Or can I move Outlook Express over to the new Vista computer? (The problem I'm dealing with is not a new one, rather it's one that has been kicking around here on the various discussion sites since last spring - that is that the antivirus programs seem to render WM useless, i.e., no mail in or out and no access to the messages in the folders with some lame excuse about the lack of memory etc. Yet here we are into Feb 2008 and Windows Mail and it's advisors are still saying dump the 2nd party software.)

I had my work email (Exchange Server) configured within my outlook and it worked fine until lastweek. It just stopped working and I thought I'll try and reset outlook and try and re-configure but then everything went really wrong.
I deleted all the Pst and ost files, deleted the old profile and created a new one.I configured a new profile and configured the exchange server settings and tried to start outlook but now it only gives me an error saying .... "cannot open default email folder. you must connect to microsoft exchange with current profile before you can synchronize with your offline folder file".. (see the screenshots)................
My eight year old Dell finally bit the dust and bought a new Gateway preloaded with Norton AV. I have a paid subscription through 01/09 with Windows One Care that I have used for three years with my Dell and never had problems with it. I have always disliked the hoggy Norton and McAfee AV's and will uninstall Norton on the new pc using the uninstall download from Symantec and probably some manual removal as well.
My question is : will WOC work with Vista?? Or should I use some of the free AV's ie Avast, AVG free, etc etc. My pc is only two days old and I don't want to spend days attempting to download new programs and fight with firewalls and potentially messing up new pc.
I have tried everything possible to get my HP PSC 500 to work with Vista, I had no problems with XP. The driver is there, but it presents an error when I go to print. I have contacted HP and they tell me because my machine, which is in perfect working condition, is 5 yrs old it will not work with Vista. I find this totally unacceptable and would like to find a solution to this other than spending more money unneccessarily to get a 2nd printer that I don't want
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've been dealing with this horrendous excuse for an email program for about 2 months now (thus my display name. my new computer came with Home Premium VISTA. I'm seriously thinking of getting my old original copy of XP installed back in my computer at some point. I'd do it myself, but I want to make sure I don't lose anything in the process. I've lost enough because of this fiasco already.
1) I can no longer use a rather expensive program that I bought to build web sites for small businesses (so therefore this also had a direct impact on my income as well as my frustration level). It won't work with Windows VISTA (because it's not a Microsoft product, of course).
2) I receive most email, but I have to check the spam folder constantly -- since I work online from home, and receive a good bit of business email at home that will often contain links, etc., VISTA reads it as "phishing" email and dumps it. And some it seems to dump in there for absolutely no reason at all...........
Has anybody tried this program with Vista & does it work well? Also, I'm not sure what I should shut down in the back ground. I don't want to mess my computer up.
View 4 Replies View Relatedi'd like to put my shadow copies on a different disk. anyone know how? details: event log tells me that shadow copies are having trouble finding space, and getting deleted. my intuition tells me a shadow on its own volume sounds incestuous. better on a different disk. just like pagefile. searching, i found vssadmin add shadowstorage /for=c: /on=t: /maxsize=10g but it doesn't work on vista sp1. what's that about? perhaps it's in the registry somewhere? anyone know...?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI got a computer in Dec of 2006. 3 months later a Vista upgrade disk came in the mail. I have had it ever since. I use this computer to store stuff and try new programs ect. I am wondering how much I will regret upgrading with this free disk. The system has a Pentuim 4 3.1 G CPU and only 512MB of RAM. I would really like to put vista on it but....512 MB of ram is not the 1GB they recommend. Is anyone running a system like this? What will happen? Will it just run slow and not have Aero because the graphics are not up to par either or will there be other problems?
