Can outlook be run on vista? I need a calendar solution - something that's compatible with my blackberry and windows calendar is not, so I'm trying to figure out if I can use outlook with vista.
View 9 RepliesI have a desktop that I upgraded from XP Pro to Vista Ultimate and a laptop running on Windows XP Pro. I recently upgraded both devices from Office 2003 to Office 2007. Before I upgraded the desktop to Vista, I copy the Outlook.pst back and forth the two machines to synchronize my e-mail. Now that the desktop is running on Vista and the laptop still running XP Pro, can I do the same thing to synchronize my e-mail or is there a better solution in synchronizing the pst files.

All of the MS Office programs installed and opened just fine except for MS Outlook, when I open MSOutlook, I receive an error message advising me that Windows VISTA encountered a problem and must close. The the Error message is "THE ORDINAL 6718 COULLD NOT BE LOCATED IN DLL MSV.DLL". MSOfficeXp including Outlook worked find with my "old" WindowsXp Pro system but there appears to be a conflict with Outlook 2002 and VISTA. View 9 Replies View RelatedBack in the 60s the saying about Ma Bell was "We don't care - we don't have to." The feedback on these threads makes me think that it's time to resurrect that saying. Microsoft is not the 2nd party - Norton and McAfee are the 2nd parties - we buy their software. Microsoft is the 3rd party that installs their oh-so software on our computers and then expects us to uninstall or disable the functions of the 2d party software in order for their 3rd party software to work. Truly Ma Bell thinking on Microsoft's part.
So I give up - I'll not be using Windows Mail. The question now is whether I continue to have two computers running - my old laptop that has Outlook Express that has NEVER been a problem. Or can I move Outlook Express over to the new Vista computer? (The problem I'm dealing with is not a new one, rather it's one that has been kicking around here on the various discussion sites since last spring - that is that the antivirus programs seem to render WM useless, i.e., no mail in or out and no access to the messages in the folders with some lame excuse about the lack of memory etc. Yet here we are into Feb 2008 and Windows Mail and it's advisors are still saying dump the 2nd party software.)

I had my work email (Exchange Server) configured within my outlook and it worked fine until lastweek. It just stopped working and I thought I'll try and reset outlook and try and re-configure but then everything went really wrong.
I deleted all the Pst and ost files, deleted the old profile and created a new one.I configured a new profile and configured the exchange server settings and tried to start outlook but now it only gives me an error saying .... "cannot open default email folder. you must connect to microsoft exchange with current profile before you can synchronize with your offline folder file".. (see the screenshots)................

Both computers are connected in a home network. All my emails and address book are in Outlook 2003 outlook.pst file. How do I bring that outlook.pst (2003) into Outlook 2007, so that I could have all my emails and address book in Outlook 2007? Right now in my Outlook 2007 my address book is practically blank.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I boot up in the morning, I have to wait 20 to 30 mins before Outlook 07 will connect to my Exchange 2003 server. Until then, when I try to open Outlook it says, cannot open the default e-mail folders. And it suggests there is a network issue or that the Exchange server is down. These are not the case. The Exchange server is up and there are no network issues. I have many other computers attached to the network and none of them have this issue. Some our XP Pro/Office 07, some are XP Pro/Office 2003. The big difference with my machine is that it is Vista.
After about 20 to 30 minutes, wow! it connects! And then it's good for the rest of the day. I usually only minimize Outlook after I actually get it open so the connection is maintained throughout the day. I'm not sure what would happen if I closed it completely. But one thing is for sure, every morning, it takes 20 to 30 minutes before it will connect. Eventually, it always connects.
just left a big wall street firm and setting up my own office now. purchased new laptop with vista os and it came with ms mail program. do i need to buy the old outlook i'm familiar with from work or can i get all that i need from this (including importing my old contacts)

The wizard seems to only work if you have an active installation, which I do not after upgrading from XP to Vista 64 (along with a new motherboard, processor and memory). I finally get it to connect with my AOL inbox, only instead of true inbox titles I'm getting all my deleted mail. My question regards attachments that are attached to the email. They are stripped/removed in transit. Other posts about this say that they can see the attachment but can't open it... but this is a different issue. There is no attachment at all though I attached and sent the email myself.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI saw a post on here about Outlook 2007 causing WordPerfect X3 to crash. I had the same problem with WP X3 and Vista Business 32 bit. I upgraded to WP X4 and the problem continued. I did a clean install of Vista Business x64 and all programs. The problem continues. If I read e-mail in Outlook, WP becomes unstable and crashes if I open a new blank document or close the last open document.
