Outlook 2007: Before I Upgraded The Desktop To Vista, I Copy The Outlook.pst Back And Forth The Two Machines To Synchronize My E-mail

Mar 23, 2008

I have a desktop that I upgraded from XP Pro to Vista Ultimate and a laptop running on Windows XP Pro. I recently upgraded both devices from Office 2003 to Office 2007. Before I upgraded the desktop to Vista, I copy the Outlook.pst back and forth the two machines to synchronize my e-mail. Now that the desktop is running on Vista and the laptop still running XP Pro, can I do the same thing to synchronize my e-mail or is there a better solution in synchronizing the pst files.

, Outlook 07 And Exchange 03: Open Outlook It Says, Cannot Open The Default E-mail Folders

Mar 23, 2008

When I boot up in the morning, I have to wait 20 to 30 mins before Outlook 07 will connect to my Exchange 2003 server. Until then, when I try to open Outlook it says, cannot open the default e-mail folders. And it suggests there is a network issue or that the Exchange server is down. These are not the case. The Exchange server is up and there are no network issues. I have many other computers attached to the network and none of them have this issue. Some our XP Pro/Office 07, some are XP Pro/Office 2003. The big difference with my machine is that it is Vista.

After about 20 to 30 minutes, wow! it connects! And then it's good for the rest of the day. I usually only minimize Outlook after I actually get it open so the connection is maintained throughout the day. I'm not sure what would happen if I closed it completely. But one thing is for sure, every morning, it takes 20 to 30 minutes before it will connect. Eventually, it always connects.

Outlook Calendar 2003 To Import My Outlook File (outlook.pst

I'm learning to use Vista (new computer purchased yesterday) and my old PC as XP and Office 2003. I only use the calendar feature of Outlook and was wondering if there's a way to import my outlook file (outlook.pst) to Vista Calendar (seems to only import .ics files) as I don't yet have Outlook 2007 installed on my Vista PC.

Set Up Windows Mail (outlook)

Jul 29, 2009

my ISP is Charter, but I do not use charter for my email. I use AOL. My parents have AOL and I have a screen name that I use b/c I have had that email for years. I am trying to set up my Windows Mail (I think this is basically outlook???) I typed in my pop3/smtp and so on. It then prompted me to log in so windows could verify and proceed on. Well, I did my AOL screenname and password and it is not working. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I just can't seem to get my AOL mail into outlook so I can use just outlook.

Windows Mail Does In Outlook

May 6, 2008

How do I get the autocomplete feature to work on WMail like it does in Outlook? When I create email using Send To and start typing in the TO block, it will recognize two or three of the addresses in my address book but not the whole list of A's, B's, or whatever. When I do same in Outlook, it autocompletes until the correct address comes up.

Mail To Outlook 2003

I am using Windows mail and don't like the way it works, especially the autocomplete feature in the address bar. Can I move all my settings, email, etc. to Outlook 2003 and if so how? I am only doing this to hopefully access the auto complete feature that I expect is available in Outlook like it was in Outlook Express.

Outlook The Mail Default In?

Aug 13, 2009

I can't seem to set Outlook as my default mail client. I've checked the default box in Outlook but it keeps reverting to Windows Mail. Outlook is NOT listed in the default programs section of the Vista control panel, nor is it listed as a program in "Program and Features." And yet it is on my computer and has been working just fine for 9 months. I need to make Outlook the default so I can sync it with my iPhone.

Windows Mail Vs. Outlook Missing

Jun 6, 2008

I've been getting by with Windows Mail for a while, but miss Outlook from when I last had it. Windows Mail just seems so slow and klugy by comparison--and the Calendar is also usable, but annoying. What do you all think? Outlook worth the investment for someone who is a heavy user with their own business?

Windows Mail Co-exist With Outlook

Mar 23, 2008

I use Outlook, (not Outlook Express) and am gearing up to send a work-related HTML newsletter from my personal PC. It looks like I need to do this through Windows Mail. My question: after I configure the ingoing and outgoing mail servers for Windows Mail, will this disable my Outlook functionability? In other words, I'd like to know before I go any further whether or not I can use both Windows Mail and Outlook on my PC (using Vista, Home Premium). I want to keep all my personal emailing intact in Outlook, and only use Windows Mail to send the work-related newsletter.

Cannot Get E-mail To Send Or Receive In Outlook

However, I cannot get my e-mail to send or receive in Outlook. A tech told me to set up the Windows Mail to correct the problem but that just caused more problems because now my e-mail downloads from the server to Windows mail.

1) disable Windows mail and 2) find the patch I need for Vista to work with my AT&T Yahoo! e-mail account?

Windows Mail And Outlook Express

Mar 23, 2008

I am quite amazed that you have not been able to make a better product than Windows Mail as a replacement for Outlook Express. On 7/3/2007 6:10 PM PST Frank Saunders, MS-MVP OE/WM" wrote in a related discussion: Why do you have to make life difficult for the users? When I check the box "Automatically complete e-mail addresses when composing, I'd expect more than just the 29 last addresses.

Furthermore, Windows Mail has got a lot worse search feature than Outlook express. When searching for emails, it will not find all the emails. For instants, when I'm searching for parts of an email address, it finds only the messages for 2008. I would like to have Outlook Express on my Vista Home Premium system.

Outlook Interfering With Windows Mail

May 30, 2008

I am using Windows Mail but I think my Outlook 2007 is getting in the way. As follows:

1. If I click on an address inside an email to create a new email then despite my being in Windows Masil it pops up as an Outlook email.
2. If I click on address on a website it defaults to my Outlook
3. And some addresses do not appear when I begin to type them despite the fact that they are in Windows Mail address book, I assume because they are duplicatess from my Outlook address book, though I can't find them there.etc etc.

How do I disable Outlook and just stick with Windows Mail (which is not half as good as Outlook Express but alas, with Vista, can now not be used)

I've also checked for "outlook' and "Outlook.pst".Did it make a .PST file and if not what file did it make? It sure looked like it was making something as it scanned through the folders in Windows Mail.
