how to retrieve my e-mail addresses I am using the same carrier, however I went from Windows Outlook to Vista mail. I don't have access to my old computer, it crashed. I am also not sure which windows outlook I was using.

I have been using Windows mail as my main mail program for about a month without problems. I can not discern what caused this problem.
Forgive me, but I am new to Vista and Windows Live Mail. I set up my Contacts folder by importing addresses from Outlook Express (.wab file). However, when creating a message from within Windows Live Mail, not all of the Contacts are shown there. I placed the Contacts folder on my desktop for easy access, and when I look there, the addresses that I am missing are shown. It's as if the Windows Live Mail software is using another Contacts folder. I checked the Options tab under Tools to see if the address source requires identification, but could not find such a reference.

I relise that you can call or even activate it over the internet, but this is anoying everytime I install a fresh copy of the OS. Before I upgraded the desktop to Vista, I copy the Outlook.pst back and forth the two machines to synchronize my e-mail. Now that the desktop is running on Vista and the laptop still running XP Pro, can I do the same thing to synchronize my e-mail or is there a better solution in synchronizing the pst files.

When you sent a e-mail, all the addresses would show before you sent the e-mail. In Vista, Microsoft Mail will allow you more than one address per person, but when I put the name in the "TO Box", only one address for that person shows up. In XP I could pick the address just before the e-mail was sent, but I can't seem to find a was to do it in Vista.

View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen I boot up in the morning, I have to wait 20 to 30 mins before Outlook 07 will connect to my Exchange 2003 server. Until then, when I try to open Outlook it says, cannot open the default e-mail folders. And it suggests there is a network issue or that the Exchange server is down. These are not the case. The Exchange server is up and there are no network issues. I have many other computers attached to the network and none of them have this issue. Some our XP Pro/Office 07, some are XP Pro/Office 2003. The big difference with my machine is that it is Vista.
After about 20 to 30 minutes, wow! it connects! And then it's good for the rest of the day. I usually only minimize Outlook after I actually get it open so the connection is maintained throughout the day. I'm not sure what would happen if I closed it completely. But one thing is for sure, every morning, it takes 20 to 30 minutes before it will connect. Eventually, it always connects.
I have had Vista for several months and still can't figure out how to get addresses to show up when I start an e-mail. I am having to go to contacts and write the address some place, then copy it on to the e-mail. I have read that this Vista Mail can remember only 29 addresses, I think. If I have not used an address for a time, just HOW do I get it without having to go to so much TROUBLE? Sometimes there is a drop-down from which I can choose, but not always. It is very frustrating and just a pain after using Outlook Express where you had only to type in a letter or two to get the address you wanted.

I am trying to set up my Windows Mail (I think this is basically outlook???) I typed in my pop3/smtp and so on. It then prompted me to log in so windows could verify and proceed on. When I create email using Send To and start typing in the TO block, it will recognize two or three of the addresses in my address book but not the whole list of A's, B's, or whatever.
