But after I upgrade my home PC to Vista system (I export my mail account for XP outlook express then inport it to my Vista system.) then it have problem - when the mail that I received in home Vista system Windows Mail then i no longer can receive in office mail client. How stable is Windows Live Mail? Does it convert your old Windows Mail messages and keep storing messages on your computer, or only online? And what about Contacts? Is there something good to read to read about moving from Windows Mail to Windows Live Mail? The material at is pretty superficial.

Tried changing by accessing Properties from Windows Mail but when I change to "Make this the defalut e-mail handler, apply and save then exit and return to Properties the setting has returned to Not the default e-mail handler.
I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium.
Note:
Control panel does show Windows mail as being the Default Newsgroup handler.
cannot get links to open in windows mail. some are public mail such as nascar, and, some are orivate emails from friends, when i defaults, it says 2 out of 3 are working. i have to keep resetting default.

Starting about 2 weeks ago, I can't open attachments in Windows Mail. Message says "command failed to execute" I have been reading the posts and still don't know what to do. How do I know if IE8 has been installed as an update? I'm inexperienced with technical stuff. I don't think I installed it, could it have installed on it's own as an update? I have to open my accounts online and when I have opened the accounts both mail and live mail will then down load messages, This does not happen all of the time, so I know the account settings are correct. Recently, she has had some problems with the Hotmail service, and she has asked me if it is possible for her to change to the mail program that comes with Vista. (Windows Mail?) The snag is, she would like to import the contents of of all her web-based Hotmail folders, (her email messages in other words), and her Hotmail contacts into whatever email program she changes to.
1. Would this be possible with Windows Mail, or does she need to write off all her Hotmail stuff and start again from scratch?
2. If it is not possible with Windows Mail, is it possible with any other email client, such as Thunderbird or similar?
