Cannot get Windows mail to connect to my Yahoo POP3 server. Contacted Yahoo and we installed telnet and successfully connected to the servers through there. Old computer had Outlook express connected to the same account and I had no problems. Have checked the setting numerous times to insure they are correct. Have tried different port 's and different configurations - get different error messages but still no luck. Have checked all the firewalls (only have one on) and it has been configured to let Windows Mail have full access.
Here are the error messages associated w/ each port used. The connection to the server has failed. I'm trying to set up an account but when it gets to the POP3 & SMTP I'm not quite sure what to enter there. It's very hard for me to send out attachments or just general mail unless I have it. I'm using Windows Vista and I do have an hotmail email account. You can respond back to that email which is mz_nette2fine4u@hotmail.com I'll check it periodically to see if anyone has responded back to me.
just wondering if anyone has any ideas for why windows mail is preventing me from sending mail. it is currently linked to my Yahoo (UK) pop3 account, and it works for receiving mail, but i cannot send any messages. any tips? i've been in contact with Yahoo Cust. services and they said that it worked and they could receive my messages to them, but it doesn't work, then they said it was a mail client provider problem.
I have a Windows Live Mail account and a Yahoo account and they both show up on the left hand side of my Window Live Mail account so I can choose which account I want to use or, for example, which inbox to look in. At the bottom, also on the left hand side of my Windows Live Mail account, it shows 'Add e-mail account', which is what I want to do with a new 'AOL' account and I want it to show on the left hand side like the two other accounts.
So I made a new AOL e-mail account, clicked 'Add e-mail account' at the bottom of my 'Windows Live Account', then I put in my new AOL e-mail account and password where it showed me. Then I clicked next.
The next page was all about my email server. When I did this before with a new e-mail account, it was all filled out automatically for me, but this time, all the blanks were left open and I have no idea what to fill in. I believe once I have this information, the AOL e-mail account will automatically then show on the left hand pane of my Windows Live Mail account below the other two accounts.
I have a yahoo mail account and have had it for years. Why do I need a microsoft mail account? I don't know what info to put under server and type. If I am on the internet and try to email from a site my yahoo mail is not picking it up. What should I do?
I have recently been receiving duplicate mail in my POP3 account. I receive about 3 or 4 of the same e-mail a day and it is getting really annoying. I have removed my anti-virus and do not have duplicate accounts. I don't know what to do.
I cannot receive Yahoo e-mail in Windows Mail. I've added the e-mail addresses to my safe senders list, but the messages never come through at all. I've checked the junk mail folder and deleted items, but the e-mails from yahoo accounts just disappear without ever getting to me. Is this a firewall problem, or something to do with our Windows settings?
I have been happily using Windows Mail since December through my Yahoo.co.uk account. All of a sudden I cannot send outgoing mails and just get the following message:
"Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Subject '
Fw:Receipt for Your Payment, Account: 'pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk', Server: 'smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 465, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket Error: 10053, Error Number:0x800CCC0F"
I am trying to set up windows mail to get my yahoo mail and I can send e-mail but everytime I retrieve i get the same error message...Message number 1 could not be retrieved. Account: 'pop.mail.yahoo.com', Server: 'localhost', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR message 1 could not be downloaded', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800420CD. I have windows live care one security system if that matters.
it asks my email address and password over and over. I use the same email address and password to log directly into yahoo mail, with no problem, so I know what I'm entering is correct.
How do I setup a Yahoo mail account for Windows mail ? I don't know what to type in when I get to the pop3 server page and incoming server. What do I have to type in?
I have Yahoo plus mail account and Microsoft Windows Mail receives mail but when sending it gives the following error. I've tried troubleshooting from the Yahoo mail help but nothing seems to work (for example, changing to port 587, turning on SSL). It was working fine before. Subject 'test', Account: 'plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com', Server: 'plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC19
To anyone having the same problem sending with Yahoo here is my solution.
Choose Tools then Accounts, highlight your account that you are having problems with, click Properties, then under the Security tab change the Algoritham setting to DES, click apply then exit tools.
Now send an E-Mail and it works.
The above setting will revert back to its original one but you can still send mails, whereas before you couldnīt.
Must have been a gltch in Windows Mail.
Dont forget incoming port (pop3) 995, outgoing port (smtp) 465.

I have recently guided a friend on a new PC and set it up for him. I created his email account in Windows Mail but after a couple of days send/receive did not download emails though no error was shown, however they were viewable at the ISP's server. As the emails are still at the ISP's server they are not going into another folder. Deleting his account from Windows Mail and setting it up again allowed emails to download but this pattern has to be repeated on a regular basis. The new PC is a Dell 530S O/S Vista Premium, 2GB RAM. The Antivirus/Firewall is F-Secure. The ISP is BT in the UK. This problem never arose with Outlook Express on his old PC. Is there a known issue with Windows Mail that might be causing
