every time i send emails thru microsoft i get that smtp is not a valid server, i use yahoo.com, and my account i have is yahoo.com. Yahoo states that smtp is a connection which confuses me, what server do i need?

One thing I would say is I am acctually away from home at the moment, so I am using internet in another house which is provided by a different ISP - could this be the problem as I have used Outlook Express on my PC at home for these same accounts and have had no problems.

I think the problem may lie in changimg my internet provider which is Melita. so should my incoming read lineone and the outgoing be the melita network which I think is onvol. My computer skills are basic so easy answers please. I have to use tiscali all the time but it takes longer to read my mail because of all the adverst etc downloaded along with the mail. Windows is obviously quicker if only I could send them.

I sed my yahoo email address and password when setting up my windows mail account. Now all of my yahoo emails are being transfered to my windows mail account, starting with mail from several years ago. move these emails back to my yahoo account and b) to stop emails from transfering to my windows mail account. Choose Tools then Accounts, highlight your account that you are having problems with, click Properties, then under the Security tab change the Algoritham setting to DES, click apply then exit tools.
Now send an E-Mail and it works.
The above setting will revert back to its original one but you can still send mails, whereas before you couldnīt.
Must have been a gltch in Windows Mail.
Dont forget incoming port (pop3) 995, outgoing port (smtp) 465.

Cannot get Windows mail to connect to my Yahoo POP3 server. Contacted Yahoo and we installed telnet and successfully connected to the servers through there. Old computer had Outlook express connected to the same account and I had no problems. Have checked the setting numerous times to insure they are correct. I then changed the outgoing server as my ISP is currently BT and this is what theeir website says. When I try to send emails then, I get the windows security logon. When I enter my username and password, it just keeps reappearing as if I have entered it incorrectly. I have rechecked the details in properties and I am entering them correctly. When I cancel the logon screen, I get a blank error.
Can receive emails via Windows email/Outlook but cant send them, problems with the outgoing server, changed the ports to all advised still nothing.
