Windows Mail To Yahoo Plus POP3 Account For First Time

Cannot get Windows mail to connect to my Yahoo POP3 server. Contacted Yahoo and we installed telnet and successfully connected to the servers through there. Old computer had Outlook express connected to the same account and I had no problems. Have checked the setting numerous times to insure they are correct. Have tried different port 's and different configurations - get different error messages but still no luck. Have checked all the firewalls (only have one on) and it has been configured to let Windows Mail have full access.
Here are the error messages associated w/ each port used. The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'yahoo', Server: 'plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 587, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. I have tried this every way I can using the guides. I can send mail but NOT Receive my mails. Triple checked all settings. I'm trying to set up an account but when it gets to the POP3 & SMTP I'm not quite sure what to enter there. It's very hard for me to send out attachments or just general mail unless I have it. I'm using Windows Vista and I do have an hotmail email account. You can respond back to that email which is mz_nette2fine4u@hotmail.com I'll check it periodically to see if anyone has responded back to me.

just wondering if anyone has any ideas for why windows mail is preventing me from sending mail. it is currently linked to my Yahoo (UK) pop3 account, and it works for receiving mail, but i cannot send any messages. any tips? i've been in contact with Yahoo Cust. services and they said that it worked and they could receive my messages to them, but it doesn't work, then they said it was a mail client provider problem.

I have recently been receiving duplicate mail in my POP3 account. I receive about 3 or 4 of the same e-mail a day and it is getting really annoying. I have removed my anti-virus and do not have duplicate accounts. I don't know what to do.

I have a Windows Live Mail account and a Yahoo account and they both show up on the left hand side of my Window Live Mail account so I can choose which account I want to use or, for example, which inbox to look in. At the bottom, also on the left hand side of my Windows Live Mail account, it shows 'Add e-mail account', which is what I want to do with a new 'AOL' account and I want it to show on the left hand side like the two other accounts.
So I made a new AOL e-mail account, clicked 'Add e-mail account' at the bottom of my 'Windows Live Account', then I put in my new AOL e-mail account and password where it showed me. Then I clicked next.
The next page was all about my email server. When I did this before with a new e-mail account, it was all filled out automatically for me, but this time, all the blanks were left open and I have no idea what to fill in. I believe once I have this information, the AOL e-mail account will automatically then show on the left hand pane of my Windows Live Mail account below the other two accounts.

I cannot receive Yahoo e-mail in Windows Mail. I've added the e-mail addresses to my safe senders list, but the messages never come through at all. I've checked the junk mail folder and deleted items, but the e-mails from yahoo accounts just disappear without ever getting to me. Is this a firewall problem, or something to do with our Windows settings?

To anyone having the same problem sending with Yahoo here is my solution.
Choose Tools then Accounts, highlight your account that you are having problems with, click Properties, then under the Security tab change the Algoritham setting to DES, click apply then exit tools.
Now send an E-Mail and it works.
The above setting will revert back to its original one but you can still send mails, whereas before you couldnīt.
Must have been a gltch in Windows Mail.
Dont forget incoming port (pop3) 995, outgoing port (smtp) 465.

It told me to use my yahoo log in and password and that is what I try to use and I keep getting the same error message.

I am trying to set up windows mail to get my yahoo mail and I can send e-mail but everytime I retrieve i get the same error message...Message number 1 could not be retrieved. I have tried to set up an email acount with microsoft windows, but only got as far as receiving an error report. I filled in POP3 on the first part of the server dialogue box and SM(P?)T on the second box. These were complete random guesses as I have no idea what they mean or what the correct ones are, far less how to find them. Why do they have to make these systems so difficult? How do I find out this information?

I've had a problem for a while now. Every time I open Windows Mail up, or the news groups, I get a message saying Windows mail isn't my default mail program, and asks if I want it to be. I click yes every time, but I will still get this message when I open Windows Mail again the next day. Everything's works OK after I click this message. No other errors or anything.

Up until yesterday lunchtime my email inbox on Windows Mail (I have Vista) showed my old emails as well as my new mails. then suddenly all my old emails disappeared and I can only see new emails from yesterday lunchtime! my emails have vanished - how do I get them back? I use AOL - when I check my AOL via webmail i can still see the old emails so know they exist. so why have they disappeard from Windows Mail?
I have several folders set up on my AOL Windows Mail accont so don't want to have to set up a new windows mail account as I will lose allmy folders. And my account settings are set to "view all mail". even wehn I press "send & receive" none of my old inbox emails are being shown up.

I recently went into Change Date & Time Internet time tab and chose a time standard to connect with. After doing that I went onto the internet and connected with time.nist.gov and checked the time. After that I was no longer able to go into the internet time tab. It tells me that time.nist.gov is the time connection and I can't change it. It tells me I need to have permission to do this as administrator. I am the administrator! What goes here?

I'm not a newbie, but new to Vista. Everytime I try to send an e-mail in Windows Mail, the program automatically duplicates the address with the < and one. This is pretty annoying to say the least for recipients. I've tried typing in the address and hitting send quickly (on a test) but the program is too fast for me, it duplicates the address anyway. I'm getting complaints from recipients. What to do?

I despair. Until recently I was running OE on Windows 98 and I regularly had problems with this same issue. I've gone onto Windows Mail with Vista and everything seem to be fine for the first month deleting mails en masse until now. I've got 299 items in my deleted folder and I can't empty it other than
by deleting one at a time.
