I'm not a newbie, but new to Vista. Everytime I try to send an e-mail in Windows Mail, the program automatically duplicates the address with the < and one. This is pretty annoying to say the least for recipients. I've tried typing in the address and hitting send quickly (on a test) but the program is too fast for me, it duplicates the address anyway. I'm getting complaints from recipients. What to do?
Just bought a new Toshiba A210 laptop running Vista. After composing a message in windows mail, when I press the Send button nothing hapens (note: the "send messages immediately" option IS checked). It gets stucked in the Outbox and is only sent if I close and restart WM. Also : the unread messages count (e.g (2)) in the folders list on the left is usually wrong, indicating read messages as unread and v.v. Also : at some point the folders list on the left totally disapeared !
I already tried the following : -reinstalled Windows Vista from the recovery disk -uninstalled Norton -uninstalled some SMS program (I don't remember its name) -installed Service Pack 1 -did a Windows Update
I've had a problem for a while now. Every time I open Windows Mail up, or the news groups, I get a message saying Windows mail isn't my default mail program, and asks if I want it to be. I click yes every time, but I will still get this message when I open Windows Mail again the next day. Everything's works OK after I click this message. No other errors or anything.
I get this Message: Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Subject 'Church Floor Plans: Contemporary Style Church Building Plans', Account: 'aol.com', Server: '25', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F
My email provider is Comcast.net. I followed their guidance in setting up a Windows Mail account. I managed to transfer my indox but not my messages sent, and I am unable to send messages from my Windows Mail account. The error message that I get is:

Subject 'test', Account: 'mail.comcast.net', Server: 'smtp.comcast.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10053, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

I am using ver. 6.0.6000.16386 (vista_rtm.061101-2205).
I have just had a test done and noticed that on my webmail from my provider there are 7 messages in the inbox. But when I download to Windows Mail, only 4 of the 7 actually come in!?
Is there a known bug or something (e.g. problem with the junkfilter?) There is no set rule from this sender and I have suspected since this several weeks now, so I would have noticed if a rule had misplaced them. Is there a logfile or something to look back on or a freeware tool I could download for diagnostics?
This is my last resort, otherwise I'll have to download thunderbird and neglect this unreliable Windows Mail programm.
We run Windows Vista Premium Home and Windows Mail - mail has always worked fine. Recently, we became unable to send e-mails, although we still can receive them fine. Also, IE cannot connect to the internet, but Forefox, on the same computer, can.
I tried to use Windows like mail, but unfortunately even though it imported my settings from Outlook and / or from Windows mail, I cannot retrieve all my mail. I have three e-mail addresses that I used and it refuses to recognize the passwords even though they are recognized in Microsoft Outlook 2007 and windows mail.
I've been using Windows Mail to for my wowway account for over and year and all of a sudden it just stopped letting me send E-mails. First when I tried to send an E-mail a Windows Mail pop up came on asking me to log into my account with username and password, which it has never asked me to do. I logged in and still nothing worked. Here are the error messages that I am getting Subject 'Fw: please read ',Account: 'pop3.mail.wowway.com', Server: 'smtpauth.mail.wowway.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '250 8BITMIME', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): Yes, Server Error: 250, Error Number: 0x800CCC7D and The connection to the server has failed. I am running Windows Vista. I am having a problem with Windows Mail inthat every time I switch between folders, the last e-mail in my Inbox disappears. It doesn't go into the Deleted Items folder, it just vanishes. I have lost several important e-mails today.
I recently went into Change Date & Time Internet time tab and chose a time standard to connect with. After doing that I went onto the internet and connected with time.nist.gov and checked the time. After that I was no longer able to go into the internet time tab. It tells me that time.nist.gov is the time connection and I can't change it. It tells me I need to have permission to do this as administrator. I am the administrator! What goes here?
To anyone having the same problem sending with Yahoo here is my solution.
Choose Tools then Accounts, highlight your account that you are having problems with, click Properties, then under the Security tab change the Algoritham setting to DES, click apply then exit tools.
Now send an E-Mail and it works.
The above setting will revert back to its original one but you can still send mails, whereas before you couldnīt.
Must have been a gltch in Windows Mail.
Dont forget incoming port (pop3) 995, outgoing port (smtp) 465.
I migrated my email from Outlook Express to Windows Mail.for the mosst part, I like the new features and support in the new Mail program.
But I have come across one problem that I can't figure out.searching the posts on this forum, no one else seems to be having the same problem.
When I send a new e-mail OR reply to an e-mail from a contact, the email content is shifted to the bottom of the email and a ton (about 30-50 lines) of MIME encoding information is imbedded in the top portion of the email.
I have tried changing encoding to reply in senders format or default to Windows instead of ISO format all with no resolution.
People complain about the emails they get from me from my Windows Mail account but if I send from Outlook Express, from hotmail web interface, or my Blackberry all is good and encoding info is not included.
Seems to be some Windows Mail setup issue running on Vista Ultimate x64 with latest updates applied as of now.
I've just started using Windows Mail/ Vista and found when I'm prining off e-mails from Windows Mail, the margin on the left hand side of the page is larger than normal which cuts off about half an inch of text. I didn't have this problem previously when using Outlook Express.
My understanding of ISP mail servers is that when abroad (I'm UK based) I have to access my e-mail (for both sending and receiving) via my ISP's website and 'Web Mail'. Certainly this is the way I have always done it and, when I have tried to use Windows Mail 'normally', I can neither download nor send e-mails when abroad because I cannot connect to my ISPs mail server. I was in Fuerteventura a couple of weeks ago, however, and using Wi-Fi I accessed my Pipex WebMail.
I was working my way through my e-mails when suddenly they all vanished and my on-line Inbox was empty. I was completely baffled as to what had happened but was even more astonished when, after shutting down IE and opening Windows Mail, I found that all my vanished e-mails were in my Windows Mail inbox and had downloaded normally. I assumed that I had been mistaken about having to use Web Mail abroad and so tried sending an e-mail in the normal way - but got an error message about not being able to connect with the Pipex mail server.
I'm getting the following error message when Windows Mail (Vista 64 Home Premium SP1) tries to send e-mails from my laptop: The connection to the server has failed. Subject ..., Account: 'verizon.net', Server: 'outgoing.verizon.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 587, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E. Downloading incoming mail is not a problem, and I obviously can post to newsgroups. Although this is a new problem, I turned off Norton's checking of outgoing mail - no change. Verizon had us change to Port 587 last year so that's not the issue either. WM does send e-mail from my desktop so apparently the problem is specific to the laptop.
Cannot get Windows mail to connect to my Yahoo POP3 server. Contacted Yahoo and we installed telnet and successfully connected to the servers through there. Old computer had Outlook express connected to the same account and I had no problems. Have checked the setting numerous times to insure they are correct. Have tried different port 's and different configurations - get different error messages but still no luck. Have checked all the firewalls (only have one on) and it has been configured to let Windows Mail have full access.
Here are the error messages associated w/ each port used. The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'yahoo', Server: 'plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 587, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. I despair. Until recently I was running OE on Windows 98 and I regularly had problems with this same issue. I've gone onto Windows Mail with Vista and everything seem to be fine for the first month deleting mails en masse until now. I've got 299 items in my deleted folder and I can't empty it other than by deleting one at a time.
Just bought a new laptop with Vista and I'm using Windows Mail. Sometimes in the middle of typing an email it automatically sends by itself. I'm as positive as I can be that I'm not accidentally hitting any key combinations to cause this like, "alt+s.
I am interested in using Windows Mail but first I would like to make sure that all the e-mails I send using Windows Live will be saved both in Windows Live and the website version of each of the e-mail accounts I will add. I would like to know if the same applies for the e-mails I receive.
I cannot recieve mails with windows mail. I think i've done everything correctly and i can send mails. when i click on send/recieve button everyting seems normal, get no fault messages but i cannot recieve any mail tryed it several times.
my vista mail takes a very long time when I have something attached to the outgoing mail. Even a very small attachment of 9 kbytes takes about 30 seconds. I have vista ultimative 64 bit danish version sp1. I have tried to disable antivirus/firewall but it is still the same. Prolonging the servers responstime in account options to 1 minut..doesn? A mail with no attachment sends right away.
Nearly three years after the debut of the botched Windows Vista, enough is right with Windows 7 to unseat an aging Windows XP. Windows 7 RTM arrives: The time is finally ripe for a Windows upgrade | Windows - InfoWorld
I'm trying to set up my Windows Email and when it comes to the POP3 & SMTP I'm not quite sure what I need to put there in order to send and receive emails from my windows. I've tried everything and nothing works. I don't see anywhere online for assistance with this I'm not sure if you put microsoft.pop3.com & microsoft.smtp.com because when I tried that it didn't work.
