I'm trying to set up my Windows Email and when it comes to the POP3 & SMTP I'm not quite sure what I need to put there in order to send and receive emails from my windows. I've tried everything and nothing works. I don't see anywhere online for assistance with this I'm not sure if you put microsoft.pop3.com & microsoft.smtp.com because when I tried that it didn't work.
i can't send or reveive mail on windows for the past 3 days i get an error message something about my server pop3 cannot be found. Does anybody know what to do?
A month ago I could send emails out of my Windows Mail account, now I can't. I can only receive mails. I've tried dissabling my antivirus, lowering internet protection and nothing. This is the error message I get. The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'test', Account: 'Vina Corral Victoria', Server: 'mail.corralvictoria.cl', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10051, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E This is driving me crazy.
I can't seem to find anyone else who has this problem. I can send and receive email and I can send email with attachments in Windows mail. BUT when I get an email with an attachment, I cannot open it. Nothing happens. I have run Regcure which is the standard for problems with Windows Mail, but it did no good. I am running Vista Premium Home on a Lenova laptop, a T61 -- fairly powerful.

Cannot send or receive email. Always receive error message when Windows Mail tries to connect to ISP server. Nothing wrong with ISP provider, problem lies with Microsoft Host Name. I always receive error message displaying "Socket error 10061, error number OX800CCCOE". Does anyone know what Microsoft screwed up this time?

I have set up my account 5 or 6 times. I have roadrunner as my internet provider. the pop is pop-server.wi.rr.com and smtp is smtp-server.wi.rr.com I was able to send one email and then I closed windows mail. 10 mins later, went back in to try and send an email and I received this error message.

Without an error message I no longer receive email through windows mail. I have a new account, checked everything, called my new provider's helpdesk, checked again and was told that it has to be a problem in windows mail. They have had more customers with this problem and could not help them because it is no known problem. I get no error messages from windows, test emails just vanish in deep internetspace.. Strange thing is that it did work properly for a few days with this new provider until this problem came up and there were no problems at all with my old email account.
I tried to download IE8 but installation was not accepted because there should be a newer verion on my pc. Maybe there is someone who knows to trigger this issue the right way? I think about contacting Acer about this oem version or to instaal an other emailprogram. On my old laptop and the same account options with XP-pro there is no problem with receiving emails, so it has to be something gone wrong on my new pc with Vista Home Premium (64 bits) with SP-2 and Windows Mail.

in-box shows that I am receiving e-mails but when opened shows: "There are no items in this view". I can view junk e-mails but not anything in my in-box.
For some odd reason, I seem to get duplicates of every email received. Usually I get two copies, on rare occasions three or four, and last weekend I got more than 30 copies of a single email. I have already turned off the anti-spam feature of my anti-virus program. Is there any way to change the settings so I get only one copy of each email? I am running Vista Home Premium, 32 bit, with 3GB of memory on Dual CPU E2180 @ 2 GHz.
I get this Message: Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. My email provider is Comcast.net. I followed their guidance in setting up a Windows Mail account. I managed to transfer my indox but not my messages sent, and I am unable to send messages from my Windows Mail account. The error message that I get is:

Since migrating to Windows Mail a year ago on a new PC running Vista, I've been unable to open, or to save and open, email attachments received in .pdf or .jpg format. When I try to open .pdf attachments, I get an error message reading, "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Set Associations control panel." If I save a .pdf attachment in Adobe Reader and then try to open it, I get a message saying, "Adobe Reader could not open [file] because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)." I run Adobe Reader 8. Where do I look to find a solution to this problem? Is it related to the similar problem with JPEG's?
We run Windows Vista Premium Home and Windows Mail - mail has always worked fine. Recently, we became unable to send e-mails, although we still can receive them fine. Also, IE cannot connect to the internet, but Forefox, on the same computer, can.
I've been using Windows Mail to for my wowway account for over and year and all of a sudden it just stopped letting me send E-mails. First when I tried to send an E-mail a Windows Mail pop up came on asking me to log into my account with username and password, which it has never asked me to do. I logged in and still nothing worked. Here are the error messages that I am getting Subject 'Fw: please read ',Account: 'pop3.mail.wowway.com', Server: 'smtpauth.mail.wowway.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '250 8BITMIME', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): Yes, Server Error: 250, Error Number: 0x800CCC7D and The connection to the server has failed. My understanding of ISP mail servers is that when abroad (I'm UK based) I have to access my e-mail (for both sending and receiving) via my ISP's website and 'Web Mail'. Certainly this is the way I have always done it and, when I have tried to use Windows Mail 'normally', I can neither download nor send e-mails when abroad because I cannot connect to my ISPs mail server. I was in Fuerteventura a couple of weeks ago, however, and using Wi-Fi I accessed my Pipex WebMail.
I was working my way through my e-mails when suddenly they all vanished and my on-line Inbox was empty. I was completely baffled as to what had happened but was even more astonished when, after shutting down IE and opening Windows Mail, I found that all my vanished e-mails were in my Windows Mail inbox and had downloaded normally. I assumed that I had been mistaken about having to use Web Mail abroad and so tried sending an e-mail in the normal way - but got an error message about not being able to connect with the Pipex mail server.
I'm getting the following error message when Windows Mail (Vista 64 Home Premium SP1) tries to send e-mails from my laptop: The connection to the server has failed. Subject ..., Account: 'verizon.net', Server: 'outgoing.verizon.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 587, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E. Downloading incoming mail is not a problem, and I obviously can post to newsgroups. Although this is a new problem, I turned off Norton's checking of outgoing mail - no change. Verizon had us change to Port 587 last year so that's not the issue either. WM does send e-mail from my desktop so apparently the problem is specific to the laptop.
I bought new PC of Windows Vista Home premium, now it's beeen upgrade to Vista SP1. When I want to try to sending fax but I can't see fax icon on Control Panel or ALL PROGRAM. So now I can not send and receive fax, I am so upset with this problem. How to send and receive Fax from Windows Vista Home Premium, I am looking forward to hearing from you as soon as possible.
Here is my error message??? The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'testing', Account: 'pop.secureserver.et', Server: 'smtp.secureserver.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 3535, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
I recently bought a new (actually a 2 or 3 yr. old Compaq) computer and it has Vista Home OS. I used the Microsoft transfer program and successfully moved most data to new PC. (Old PC was XP), However, I am having problems with mail. I use an older Outlook and I cannot send now but I can receive emails. I tried Windows mail and it will not open. I also used Outlook Express on my old computer. I think the problem is related to having some outlook express and Outlook data files hat tranferred over to the new PC and now the PC (amd I) is confusd as to what email, adress book, etc, to use.
Same error keeps coming up when trying to send and recieve Emails , Ive typed in all servers possible and nothing Its so frustrtating , Why oh why can it work on my old P.C but not Vista , Outlook express never had this problem Cant see anything on any website that helps , Oh n these people are paid god knows how much to set this thing up but cant help , And yet on all the posts sent on here no-one knows either , Its such a joke its laughable Even on Windows live mail the email account is valid, password is valid blah blah blah , so i know the account excists Someone get off there backside
I am running Windows Vista home edition and when I receive my email using Windows Mail, it says it is receiving the email ok but then it all disappears. There are no messages in the inbox or any other folder. I tested that my email is getting to my mailbox on my ISP'S server by using their webmail. I have had people send me test messages and they all show up in the mailbox. After I start up Windows mail and it says it is receiving "n" messages and then they disappear, I logged back onto my webmail and all the mail is gone so I know it is being sent to my PC.
Can anyone help with this problem? I have no idea where the messages are going to, they just seem to disappear. I hav uninstalled the antivirus program that I had because I thought maybe it had something to do with it but that did not do any good. I have no other firewalls or anything running on the PC outside of what comes with Vista.
When I repled to an email it was not received by the original sender. I didn't receive a message telling me that the email had not been received. I then sent a test email and copied myself. I received the copy but again the recipient didn't. My pal then sent an email to a number of his friends requesting a reply and he received replies from all of them. So it seems that he is receiving emails from everyone except me and I'm sending emails to everyone except him. I should state that this has only happened within the last week, up until then I had been sending emails to this address without any problems.
