I cannot receive or send emails on Vista Windows Mail. This infuriating situation occurred exactly one month after receiving the new computer with Vista Home Premium already installed. My old computer is connected as a small network. When the problem initially occurred on 7th June it said "Receiving 1 of 8" but never did and after a while (1/2 to 1 hr?) I logged off and logged on again but to no avail. I thought maybe a big photo or something was coming in but nothing eventuated. I accessed my email via Optus Web Mail and saw that there was nothing there bigger than 493KB. The main error message I receive is Account: 'mail.optusnet.com.au', Server: 'mail.optusnet.com.au', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC19
I have telephoned Optus (Australia) 5 times but they insist it is a Windows Mail corruption problem. No one was able to tell me what this error message actually means. Another issue that may also be connected was when I downloaded a trial version of a home video editing programme. It cut the 30 day trial by about 8 days, finishing on June 1st. June the first I thought? Why June 1st? I asked on the forum but they could not explain why.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have 2 user accounts on my pc, both running WinMail with identical options set on both. They are set to check for emails every 5 minutes and at startup. One works fine on both options. The other will not automatically retrieve emails every 5 minutes. It does retrieve when it is started or when manually receive emails is initiated. Every 5 minutes, I hear the tone that is set, but it will not retrieve the email.

Not a huge problem as I can at least send and receive emails manually but can anyone suggest why my Windows Mail account no longer checks for new mail automatically, even though it's still set up to do so every minute? If I click on send/receive it comes up with an error message but no error code. And if I just click on receive email any messages come through straight away. I have no problem sending email or receiving it
by clicking on "receive mail" every so often, but I've spent ages trying to get back to how it used to be and can't. I hate giving in! The problem occurred after downloading a trial version of Norton and even though I uninstalled that (later trying AVG and now McAfee) the problem has persisted for months now.

View 9 Replies View RelatedMy computer crashed and had IT person set it up for me again. He is not too familiar with Vista. I now have AVG anti-virus program and some responses I have read said it could be problem with anti-virus - so does Windows mail have a problem with AVG? I have Windows Mail on Vista which was working fine for 7 months. Today it will not send or receive any email. There are no error messages, just outbound email sits in the outbox going nowhere and nothing is incoming despite having test emails sent. I also cannot read the sent items folder - it says Folder could not be displayed Windows mail could not open this folder. Possible causes are low disk space low memory. I know this is not the case. I do have several photographs on some of the emails outgoing lately.
