View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a desktop that I upgraded from XP Pro to Vista Ultimate and a laptop running on Windows XP Pro. I recently upgraded both devices from Office 2003 to Office 2007. Before I upgraded the desktop to Vista, I copy the Outlook.pst back and forth the two machines to synchronize my e-mail. Now that the desktop is running on Vista and the laptop still running XP Pro, can I do the same thing to synchronize my e-mail or is there a better solution in synchronizing the pst files.

I have just had a test done and noticed that on my webmail from my provider there are 7 messages in the inbox. But when I download to Windows Mail, only 4 of the 7 actually come in!?
Is there a known bug or something (e.g. problem with the junkfilter?) There is no set rule from this sender and I have suspected since this several weeks now, so I would have noticed if a rule had misplaced them. Is there a logfile or something to look back on or a freeware tool I could download for diagnostics?
This is my last resort, otherwise I'll have to download thunderbird and neglect this unreliable Windows Mail programm.
We run Windows Vista Premium Home and Windows Mail - mail has always worked fine. Recently, we became unable to send e-mails, although we still can receive them fine. Also, IE cannot connect to the internet, but Forefox, on the same computer, can.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm not a newbie, but new to Vista. Everytime I try to send an e-mail in Windows Mail, the program automatically duplicates the address with the < and one. This is pretty annoying to say the least for recipients. I've tried typing in the address and hitting send quickly (on a test) but the program is too fast for me, it duplicates the address anyway. I'm getting complaints from recipients. What to do?

Choose Tools then Accounts, highlight your account that you are having problems with, click Properties, then under the Security tab change the Algoritham setting to DES, click apply then exit tools.
Now send an E-Mail and it works.
The above setting will revert back to its original one but you can still send mails, whereas before you couldnīt.
Must have been a gltch in Windows Mail.
Dont forget incoming port (pop3) 995, outgoing port (smtp) 465.
I migrated my email from Outlook Express to Windows Mail.for the mosst part, I like the new features and support in the new Mail
program.
But I have come across one problem that I can't figure out.searching the posts on this forum, no one else seems to be having the same problem.
When I send a new e-mail OR reply to an e-mail from a contact, the email content is shifted to the bottom of the email and a ton (about 30-50 lines) of MIME encoding information is imbedded in the top portion of the email.
I have tried changing encoding to reply in senders format or default to Windows instead of ISO format all with no resolution.
People complain about the emails they get from me from my Windows Mail account but if I send from Outlook Express, from hotmail web interface, or my Blackberry all is good and encoding info is not included.
Seems to be some Windows Mail setup issue running on Vista Ultimate x64 with
latest updates applied as of now.
I've just started using Windows Mail/ Vista and found when I'm prining off e-mails from Windows Mail, the margin on the left hand side of the page is larger than normal which cuts off about half an inch of text. I didn't have this problem previously when using Outlook Express.
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy understanding of ISP mail servers is that when abroad (I'm UK based) I have to access my e-mail (for both sending and receiving) via my ISP's website and 'Web Mail'. Certainly this is the way I have always done it and, when I have tried to use Windows Mail 'normally', I can neither download nor send e-mails when abroad because I cannot connect to my ISPs mail server. I was in Fuerteventura a couple of weeks ago, however, and using Wi-Fi I accessed my Pipex WebMail.
I was working my way through my e-mails when suddenly they all vanished and my on-line Inbox was empty. I was completely baffled as to what had happened but was even more astonished when, after shutting down IE and opening Windows Mail, I found that all my vanished e-mails were in my Windows Mail inbox and had downloaded normally. I assumed that I had been mistaken about having to use Web Mail abroad and so tried sending an e-mail in the normal way - but got an error message about not being able to connect with the Pipex mail server.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm getting the following error message when Windows Mail (Vista 64 Home Premium SP1) tries to send e-mails from my laptop: The connection to the server has failed. Subject ..., Account: 'verizon.net', Server: 'outgoing.verizon.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 587, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E. Downloading incoming mail is not a problem, and I obviously can post to newsgroups. Although this is a new problem, I turned off Norton's checking of outgoing mail - no change. Verizon had us change to Port 587 last year so that's not the issue either. WM does send e-mail from my desktop so apparently the problem is specific to the laptop.
