However, when I select Tools in the contact folder I have only 4 choices - Map Network - Disconnect Network Drive - Open Sync Center - Folder Options. Now when I go to fax a document using Windows Fax and Scan and try to select a contact, Outlook Contacts is displayed instead of Windows Contacts. It won't let me choose to use Windows Contacts either. I tried using Default Programs to associate Windows Contacts with it's defaults but that didn't work.

View 9 Replies View RelatedWindows Mail's export only works to the local hard drive (heaven knows why). vereything works fine up to that point. Then the last step - copying the export from the hard drive to a removable medium fails. Eg I put the export into a folder on the desktop, but it won't copy to a USB flash stick: it gets started and then hangs - suddenly saying it will take 20+ hours to complete. There is no conceivable space issue. How can I do this last step, which is the key step? Have MS put in a spoiler?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI want to backup my emails in Win Mail (Vista home premium) - all of them so theres hundreds of them in dozens of folders I have created. So I go file - export - messages, select a format, select an EMPTY folder on my 1TB external drive, then try to export. I either get an error message telling me that some files may be corrupt, or that the destination folder may be too small. Or if I select just a tiny folder to export, it says export successful, but it only exports ONE email - the top one in the list I think? I really dont think I have corrupted files here - any folder I select to export seems to have a problem... as my motherboard is flakey, and I want to do the backup ASAP before it 'flakes' again!
View 6 Replies View RelatedI can't get Windows Fax and Scan (WFS) to use the contacts from Outlook 2007. Running Vista Ultimate 64 on an SBS 2003 network. Using the server's shared fax. This worked when I had Vista Ultimate 32 installed. Unsuccesful steps I have tried. I have run a repair install of Office. I have deleted my old profile and created a new one. Please note that since I am running on SBS 2003 premium I use Exchange 2003 so I don't lose my contacts, e-mails, etc. when I delete the profile. I have rebooted. I have deleted the fax account and added it back. When I click on the address book icon my contacts appear and those with fax numbers are listed. What I get for contacts are the one created by Windows Mail for me. I have never used Windows Mail on this PC.

"Windows Fax and Scan" (WFS) does not allow me to choose Outlook Contacts in order to populate the fax number field. WFS is using Windows Contact instead Outlook Contacts. I've tried everything of which I could think, and read every forum I could find on the web.
Steps I've tried:
1)Control Panel-> Programs-> Default Programs-> Set Default Programs->
Outlook I Checked all boxes (6 extensions, 6 protocols, 1 start menu).Technically,they re grayed out but checked.

View 4 Replies View RelatedForgive me, but I am new to Vista and Windows Live Mail. I set up my Contacts folder by importing addresses from Outlook Express (.wab file). However, when creating a message from within Windows Live Mail, not all of the Contacts are shown there. I placed the Contacts folder on my desktop for easy access, and when I look there, the addresses that I am missing are shown. It's as if the Windows Live Mail software is using another Contacts folder. I checked the Options tab under Tools to see if the address source requires identification, but could not find such a reference.

I have used Microsoft Outlook 2002 for a few years so I had no real problems until recently. I save many of the e-mails I receive in either text or HTML format with no problem. When I save an e-mail now in
either text or HTML now, a folder is automatically created with the same name I have created the e-mail I have created. The e-mail which I save is not saved in the folder which automatically appears. What is in the folder are three files: colorschememapping, filelist, and themedata. If after I save the file then go back and delete the folder with the same name as the file, both the folder and the e-mail which I saved are
deleted. I do not know what is going on. Now my computer is getting filled up with e-mail messages I want to keep and folders that I really do not want. Does anyone have a solution to this problem? I am aboutready to pull my hair out.

Now Microsoft is directing users to install Microsoft LIVE Mail? Historically, when I would designate a mail item for permanent deletion (by hitting shift and delete at the same time), a dialog box would pop up asking me if I was sure that I wanted that item to be permanently deleted. When the dialog box appeared, a sound was made simultaneously. (I believe that if I clicked yes to the question in the dialog box, another sound was made.) Today, for no apparent reason, there are no sounds made. I opened Control Panel and selected "sounds" to see if Outlook was among the programs listed where certain actions within a program are accentuated with sounds, but i see that Outlook is not listed. I restored the Sounds from "modified default" to "Windows Default" and re-started Outlook, but the sound was not restored. Does anyone know how to restore my sounds?
