I was using Microsoft Outlook Express as my mail client. Then Microsoft advised users to update to Windows Mail since they no longer supported Outlook Express..so I did. Now Microsoft is directing users to install Microsoft LIVE Mail? What is the difference between Microsoft Mail (which I am running) and Microsoft LIVE Mail....and, why would a user run LIVE over MAIL?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have some Vista Business users running with Limited accounts so that they can't install programs with the admin password. MS Automatic Update service seems to be running as Administrator so those patches get applied seemlessly and without my user having to call me to apply them. But I would truely love the ability to allow for Firefox and Adobe Reader to update themselves as well? Is this possible? I just can't keep up with all those updates on those two program for everyone here at work. Hey, I wonder if Google Updater can update these apps seemlessly: Ummm... I guess this runs as a System Account. I'll give this a shot and see. Otherwise any other suggestions are welcome. Overall though, I'd like to see how to define a specific program (well understanding the security ramifications) to install it as admin automatically.

However, it appears that Windows Live Photo Gallery is removed because the Restore Point was before "Live Gallery" was installed. What confuses me is that the "Upgrade Installation" still shows in the Upgrade list. Finally my question: Can I simply reinstall Windows Live Photo Gallery from the Microsoft site?

When i click on setup, the user account control window appears asking for permission to setup, I press continue and then the setup window appears but then immediately closes. It doesn't even begin to install, I've tried running it running it as administrator, i've tried deleting previously installed applications that may have caused disruption and i've even tried installing them whilst in safe mode but nothing seems to work.

can both run on one vista computer. Microsoft mail with one email provider (work) and outlook with another(school)? any special setup required. I suppose each will have its own contact manager, but one could be used.

When you sent a e-mail, all the addresses would show before you sent the e-mail. In Vista, Microsoft Mail will allow you more than one address per person, but when I put the name in the "TO Box", only one address for that person shows up. In XP I could pick the address just before the e-mail was sent, but I can't seem to find a was to do it in Vista.

When I do, I am asked to sign on with 'Microsoft Update'. The idea is, I think, to combine this Microsoft Update with my Windows Update and let Office updates come though along with updates for Vista, IE, etc. I have posted here before with issues concerning updates including a fiasco I had last November which involved Office updates and am wondering, since Office seems to be working well at the moment (I was bored so I did a diagnostic ) should I bother with this or just leave it? I'd stuck with my Pentium4 on XP Pro. Well, actually did not have much choice as the old beast died a death. Mobo trashed! I got the message from M$ that HotMail would no longer be supported on Outlook, and have been trying to install Live Mail. I keep getting the error "Sorry, we couldn't install these programs". How helpful is THAT! I finally tracked down a standalone install kit for WLM and now have messenger installed and (eventually) working.
Slowly but surely I'm learning more and more about Vista interface and I like the idea behind the Media Center. However, as much as I like it I would prefer if all media was saved to my second hard-drive where I would like to keep all the media instead of where Vista saves them into the HD that I want to keep relatively clean as the system drive. What would be a workaround for: Keep using Media Center but forcing it to use say. Drive D as the storage space for media.
