Windows Live Mail - Can't Import My Contacts
May 11, 2009I am being forced to use this tacky Windows Live mail program (coz I want to open attachments after IE8!), I have installed it and as I would expect from a Microsoft install it didn't go smoothly!
After quite some period of time the install program announced that it could not import my contacts - probably the most important aspect of my mail program!
It tells me to do so manually, with no instruction how to of course. I am merely told to point the program in the direction of my Winmail address book.

Jul 29, 2009Im trying to import my mail folders/messages from Window Mail to Outlook. In Outlook, I choose, File, Import, Import from another file/program, Windows mail. Outlook finds old mail files (from Outlook express) and imports them perfectly. Problem is they are not my windows mail files. I dont know where outlook is looking for the files or how to find the outlook files to delete them and move the windows mail files to where Outlook is looking.

I've ad it set-up to read all in one place all my different e-mail accounts, I've got 3 hotmails, one g-mail and another different one. Now when I go to fax a document using Windows Fax and Scan and try to select a contact, Outlook Contacts is displayed instead of Windows Contacts. It won't let me choose to use Windows Contacts either. I tried using Default Programs to associate Windows Contacts with it's defaults but that didn't work.

Mar 7, 2009I can't get Windows Fax and Scan (WFS) to use the contacts from Outlook 2007. Running Vista Ultimate 64 on an SBS 2003 network. Using the server's shared fax. This worked when I had Vista Ultimate 32 installed. Unsuccesful steps I have tried. I have run a repair install of Office. I have deleted my old profile and created a new one. Please note that since I am running on SBS 2003 premium I use Exchange 2003 so I don't lose my contacts, e-mails, etc. when I delete the profile. I have rebooted. I have deleted the fax account and added it back. When I click on the address book icon my contacts appear and those with fax numbers are listed. What I get for contacts are the one created by Windows Mail for me. I have never used Windows Mail on this PC.

"Windows Fax and Scan" (WFS) does not allow me to choose Outlook Contacts in order to populate the fax number field. WFS is using Windows Contact instead Outlook Contacts. I've tried everything of which I could think, and read every forum I could find on the web.
Steps I've tried:
1)Control Panel-> Programs-> Default Programs-> Set Default Programs->
Outlook I Checked all boxes (6 extensions, 6 protocols, 1 start menu).Technically,they re grayed out but checked.
Contacts - Extended Characters Import
Feb 16, 2009I am trying to import my Outlook Contacts into the Vista Contacts folder. Many of the Outlook Contacts have extended characters, e.g. ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, etc. The CSV file that I created from Outlook correctly displays the accented letters and the Spanish "?" but when I import the contacts into Vista Contacts, they display as gibberish.
Importing a vCard works but I have hundreds of contacts and I haven't been able to save all of them as a single file. Saving and importing them one at a time would take hours. How does one import contacts with Spanish and French names?
Cannot Find Options To Import Or Export Contacts
Apr 15, 2010Instructions to export contacts are to open the contacts folder - select Tools - select Export. However, when I select Tools in the contact folder I have only 4 choices - Map Network - Disconnect Network Drive - Open Sync Center - Folder Options. I cannot find the options to Import or Export anywhere. I want to export the email addresses so they can be used on my laptop running XP pro.
