I recently had my main laptop "crap" out and had the hard drive put onto an external hard drive. I have many contacts, folders and e-mails that I need to put into Windows Mail on my backup laptop but for some reason I can't import them due to permission access?
View 6 RepliesI have upgraded from Windows Mail to Live Windows Mail and have imported my emails and contacts. The contacts have worked ok but I cannot find any of my imported emails. I have looked in the storage folders and imported folders as well as all other folders but there is no sign of any of my emails.

View 9 Replies View RelatedIm trying to import my mail folders/messages from Window Mail to Outlook. In Outlook, I choose, File, Import, Import from another file/program, Windows mail. Outlook finds old mail files (from Outlook express) and imports them perfectly. Problem is they are not my windows mail files. I dont know where outlook is looking for the files or how to find the outlook files to delete them and move the windows mail files to where Outlook is looking.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am being forced to use this tacky Windows Live mail program (coz I want to open attachments after IE8!), I have installed it and as I would expect from a Microsoft install it didn't go smoothly!
After quite some period of time the install program announced that it could not import my contacts - probably the most important aspect of my mail program!
It tells me to do so manually, with no instruction how to of course. I am merely told to point the program in the direction of my Winmail address book.
I can't find a way to import all of my email messages and address book from Mozilla Thunderbird to Windows mail. I am not sure of the extensions that Thunderbird uses.

I have put my email addresses from my old comp into my new Vista syst. and windows mail and they are stored as contacts list. They do not show up when I try to send an email from Windows Mail. I've ad it set-up to read all in one place all my different e-mail accounts, I've got 3 hotmails, one g-mail and another different one. I just changed my Laptop, still got my old one as a back-up, and WLM was already installed on it and it's a newer version then what I ad, the latest version I think. I would like to know how can I import all my contacts, all my different e-mail accounts set-up, my save e-mails, etc without having to start all over again and enter everything manually, because I've got a lot of stuff in there.

But when I try to export them to Windows Vista Contacts I loose all information. My outlook 2007 is a trial version and will expire next time I turn it on, so I have to get it done today.

The answer was DEP (Data Execution Protection)was shutting it down to protect my computer..What's the problem??? Norton internet Security up to date and nothing found with complete system scan..Vista up to date as well.

Your computer may be out of memory or your disk is full. (0x80070002)" After closing that error out I get "Windows Mail could not be started because MSOE.DLL could not be initialized.

Every time I open Windows Mail up, or the news groups, I get a message saying Windows mail isn't my default mail program, and asks if I want it to be. I click yes every time, but I will still get this message when I open Windows Mail again the next day. Everything's works OK after I click this message. No other errors or anything.

The wizard seems to only work if you have an active installation, which I do not after upgrading from XP to Vista 64 (along with a new motherboard, processor and memory). Doing this creates an msg file for each email. Now, like I've done many times in the past, I would like to import them into the emailprogram of a new laptop. So I dragged the msg files into Vista Windows Mail and instead of importing the messages it creates a brand new email with these msg files as attachments! The only reason I save email in this manner is because Microsoft really dropped the ball when it came to transferring email from one PC to another. I forget which it was but either Outlook or Outlook Express was so bad it was a disaster. This method always worked so this is what I've decided to do. Now it looks like Microsoft's found a way to f*** this up too.
