Windows Mail: Deleted Folder And I Can't Empty It Other Than By Deleting One At A Time
Mar 23, 2008
I despair. Until recently I was running OE on Windows 98 and I regularly had problems with this same issue. I've gone onto Windows Mail with Vista and everything seem to be fine for the first month deleting mails en masse until now. I've got 299 items in my deleted folder and I can't empty it other than
by deleting one at a time.
W0yJHA.4632@TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl> it just does nothing when I got to click on that option, and if I tried to delete thing manually I often get a pop-up error message that simply says "an unknown error has occurred" Has this happened to anyone else and if so, does anyone have advice on how to fix it?
When I open an email in deleted mail folder I get the messaage "Message could not be displayed." At this point I cannot delete this email. The following message comes up when I try to delete this message "Windows mail encountered an un expected problem while displaying this message. Check your computer for low memory or low disc space and try again." How do I empty this folder?
In OE6 my Deleted Items folder would empty automatically when I closed the programme. I cannot find that option anywhere in Windows Mail Tools - is there one?
I am unable to right click and empty my deleted items folder. When I do, it simply deletes one email, not the entire folder. I have tried a system restore to a few days ago when I know it worked.
Recently when logging on to my e-mail account I lost all my saved messages, the only one left were in the inbox. Now every time I log on Windows Mail generates a "Recovered Messages" folder filled with lots of empty folders and no messages.
Suddenly my deleted items on e-mail will not empty. It wont empty on closing, it wont empty if I click on empty deleted folder, and it wont empty by using select all and delete. It worked fine until about a week ago and now it is full to bursting and I cant even get it to delete one at a time. (It gives me an error message: "an unknown error was encountered")
I have Vista. Approximately 5 days ago, I tried to Delete my Deleted Mail Folder and it won't delete. I have to delete every message separately. I downloaded the 32-Bit Version 941090 package yesterday, it still does not work. I did have an automatice update a few days ago, and I am beginning to think that is when it stopped working properly.
I can not delete emails from Deleted Items folder in Windows Mail. Can anyone tell me how to do this--I have 36 emails in there that can not be deleted. I can delete any new emails after these 36 but can not delete these 36 emails. Can someone email me at this email address below and tell me how to delete these 36 emails in Deleted Items folder of Windows Mail
I am looking for a program or a windows explorer addon that will search a folder I indicate, and delete all the empty sub-folders. I am cleaning up my music folder and found out that I have over a thousand empty folders in it due to old music I had deleted. I don't want to have to go through and delete each one manually. I don't have that kind of spare time. Programmers, if you can write a plugin for this
For some strange reason it seems Vista (Business) mail is emptying my Deleted Items folder after a day. I can't see where this setting might be... not in Options that I can find. Any idea how to stop the unwanted emptying of my Deleted Items folder?
I am currently using AOL 9.0 and Windows Vista. I had 2 years worth of incoming e-mails stored in my "Saved on AOL" mail folder online. I recently deleted all my temporary files, cookies, and web site browsing history by way of Windows Vista's "Internet Option" section under the "Control Panel" device. For some reason, all of my incoming e-mails stored in my "Saved on AOL" mail folder online were totally wiped out. Is there anyway to get these saved e-mails back?. Why did this happen as saved e-mails online are not supposed to be touched by any offline deleting of temporary files, cookies, and web site browsing history?. My "Saved on AOL" mail folder as well as my "Recently Deleted" folder are both totally empty.
I've had a problem for a while now. Every time I open Windows Mail up, or the news groups, I get a message saying Windows mail isn't my default mail program, and asks if I want it to be. I click yes every time, but I will still get this message when I open Windows Mail again the next day. Everything's works OK after I click this message. No other errors or anything.
How can I stop my deleted items folder being deleted when I shut down windows mail? I would rather keep the messages for a while before I delete the folder.
Recently got the big update which successfully self-installed and I am running Vista Home Premium 32 bit and Windows Mail version 6.0. I went to my inbox, read my mail, and got out of Windows Mail. When I went to check mail again, I launched Windows Mail again and discovered that the program now deletes all opened mail. I cannot find a setting within the program that allows/denies this.
I run a business from home, and all the threads from my customer service efforts are gone. I am working blind. Every call now is a first time contact, and that makes me look very, very bad. how do I keep opened mail in my inbox (or elsewhere). Does anyone else have that problem and know a solution? Also, I deleted a large quantity of emails from other folders in case it was a memory problem; it all started concurrently with that update.
I am running Windows Vista. I am having a problem with Windows Mail inthat every time I switch between folders, the last e-mail in my Inbox disappears. It doesn't go into the Deleted Items folder, it just vanishes. I have lost several important e-mails today.
How can I stop emails from being deleted from the BT internet webserver after they have transferred to Windows mail? There used to be a setting in Outlook which would leave emails on the BT internet webserver for, say, 30 days... but I can't find this setting in Windows mail?
I recently went into Change Date & Time Internet time tab and chose a time standard to connect with. After doing that I went onto the internet and connected with time.nist.gov and checked the time. After that I was no longer able to go into the internet time tab. It tells me that time.nist.gov is the time connection and I can't change it. It tells me I need to have permission to do this as administrator. I am the administrator! What goes here?
how to get rid of an empty folder I can't delete? It says I *need permission* but I'm the admin and that aggravating safety thing in User Accounts is turned off anyway. Unlocker can't delete it either.
I now have over 300 messages in this folder and nothing seems to work. I don't get any error messages as I see others have posted. None of the "updates" work either. I get a message that the update does not apply to your system.
I have a strange problem. My documents folder doesnt show the content, although a lot of content exists. When typing a subfolders name in the addressbar, I can see the contents of this subfolder. Also in the command shell the "dir" command doesnt show me any content of the documents-folder. But I can access subdirectories via "cd subdirectory". The content of the subdirectory can be listed via "dir".
When I select "properties" after right-clicking the documents folder vista shows me the size of the folder and the number of files found. I have already tried the chkdsk...Everything worked fine until today. Has anybody got an idea what could be the reason for this strange behaviour?
The following .dll is shown as starting up the proces ?) "dzdqmgkyetrqrf":quflsiblczsu.dll. According to startup.exe, this dll is located in the syswow64 folder, but a search (including hiddens) comes up empty. I have recently been the victim of a keylogger trojan and have run 2 separate programs to remove same : Spybot & Spyware Doctor. Is this a legitimate .dll?? If not, how do edit the registry to prevent it from working??
My OS is Vista Home Premium(64 bit). I enjoy playing Solitaire and Chess Titans which are two of the integrated "Games". A problem has occurred. I click "Start" then "Games". The ">Games" window appears, as usual. Solitaire, Hearts, Chess Titans etc etc are shown, as usual. However, when I double click the relevant icon, instead of the game running as usual, I'm getting a new window with "Saved Games" at the top. In the main body of the window appears "Microsoft Games" folder which is empty!! I'm wondering if it's my injudicious use of a "shortcut fixer" tool in a "utility" I've been using recently that's caused this problem. how to get my nice green solitaire game (or chess etc) to show again when I double click the icon
Help. My Windows mail deleted all my February mail, even the ones in my inbox. Is this normal? How can I set it up to keep my emails, on my hard drive, indefinitely? Or is there a way. I never had this problem with Outlook Express and My Office Suite did not come with Outlook .
