Auto Reply Can't Sent Up In Windows Mail
Apr 4, 2009People say auto replies cannot be set up in Windows Mail... but they can... When using Outlook Express I set up an auto reply while i was on vacation and could never turn it off... it has nothing to do with message rules, because I deleted all rules... when i migrated to Windows Mail in Vista... the auto reply still happens... i can't find a way to turn it off...

Dec 12, 2008Recently got the big update which successfully self-installed and I am running Vista Home Premium 32 bit and Windows Mail version 6.0. I went to my inbox, read my mail, and got out of Windows Mail. When I went to check mail again, I launched Windows Mail again and discovered that the program now deletes all opened mail. I cannot find a setting within the program that allows/denies this.
I run a business from home, and all the threads from my customer service efforts are gone. I am working blind. Every call now is a first time contact, and that makes me look very, very bad. how do I keep opened mail in my inbox (or elsewhere). Does anyone else have that problem and know a solution? Also, I deleted a large quantity of emails from other folders in case it was a memory problem; it all started concurrently with that update.

Jul 29, 2009I have just bought a new computer and transferred all my email accounts (3 accounts in total) and all the e-mail messages in each 3 over to my new computer. I should mention that one of the accounts is an Imap account. What I am trying to do is delete all the e-mail messages in each account on my old computer so that it is completely clean so I can then give it to my daughter without any of my messages on there.
The first time I deleted all of the emails on my old computer, it also deleted all of them on my new computer as well. How can I keep all of my emails that were transferred to my new computer and delete all of them on my old one without affecting my new computer? Is it a question of deleting each actual account in my old one completely? Or by doing this, will I subsequently delete all of the accounts on the new one as well?

The following message comes up when I try to delete this message "Windows mail encountered an un expected problem while displaying this message. Check your computer for low memory or low disc space and try again." How do I empty this folder?

Jun 18, 2008Today I had a need to find some questions and responses that I'd sent to and received from, some of the MS newsgroups (including this one). It seems that Vista Mail has auto-magically deleted a large number of old newsgroup messages that I had previously downloaded to my machine, so I've lost that history. I've been through all the dialog boxes I could find and I cannot find any "delete downloaded news messages after ...." option. Odder still, if I use the Mail search tool to find messages, it finds some.
If I then go back to the message viewer, that gets refreshed and the search "hits" disappear from the found items dialog. Are old messages actually being deleted from the MS servers somewhere and my local cache is then being kept up to date by deleting the old messages? So the question is, "How do I prevent Vista Mail from deleting old newsgroup messages?".
Auto-login (Windows 7)
Jul 30, 2009I realize this group is for Windows Vista, but since Windows 7 is mostly Windows Vista, I'm hoping solutions that work for Vista will work for Windows 7. I have a Windows 7 RC box attached to my active directory (2003) and am trying to set it up to automatically log onto the network. Has anyone here been able to do this with Vista?
I have tried everything from modifying the user accounts to not need to enter a password (unable to do that -- I don't have that option) to editing the registry to installing Autologon from Sysinternals and a couple things I can't think of right now. If anyone has successfully managed this, please let me know, especially if you've done it on a Windows 7 box. :-)
By Pass Windows Auto-Logon
Apr 11, 2008I have successfully setup a lab of computers to auto-logon using the below registry keys. My problem is I am unable to bypass the auto-logon now. You can bypass it by holding down shift in Windows XP but that does not work in Vista Business.
