Jun 23, 2008I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit version. I moved my Documents folder from the C: drive to my E: Data drive some time ago. When I open the Start Menu I now see "Data (E" on the button that used to read "Documents." I moved the folder to E: by right-clicking on the default "Documents" label, entering Properties/Location and indicating that I wanted the new location to be E: . The system did this, placing the Documents folder under E:.
This has not caused any problem until I tried to open Windows Fax & Scan today and I received a dialog window reading: "Windows Fax and Scan cannot run as it cannot access your documents folder. Please ensure that Windows Fax and Scan can access that folder." That's all very logical, but it doesn't tell me how to do this. How can I point Fax and Scan to the new location of my Documents folder?

Does this self install with the installation of Vista, or must I add it from the installation DVD. There also seems to be something called windows fax and scan, but I can't find that either.

Shortly after I purchased a new computer and the supplier loaded Vista Ultimate at the factory and used my key number to install and activate what may have been an OEM version. Mar 7, 2009I can't get Windows Fax and Scan (WFS) to use the contacts from Outlook 2007. Running Vista Ultimate 64 on an SBS 2003 network. Using the server's shared fax. This worked when I had Vista Ultimate 32 installed. Unsuccesful steps I have tried. I have run a repair install of Office. I have deleted my old profile and created a new one. Please note that since I am running on SBS 2003 premium I use Exchange 2003 so I don't lose my contacts, e-mails, etc. when I delete the profile. I have rebooted. I have deleted the fax account and added it back. When I click on the address book icon my contacts appear and those with fax numbers are listed. What I get for contacts are the one created by Windows Mail for me. I have never used Windows Mail on this PC.

May 23, 2008When trying to launch win fax & scan I get an error: "Windows Fax and Scan cannot run as it cannot access your documents folder ..."
The MyDocuments folder is in my F: drive partition. I'd like to keep it there since that where I store my data files for back-up, but I'm willing to create another Documents folder where fax & scan can access it.

"Windows Fax and Scan" (WFS) does not allow me to choose Outlook Contacts in order to populate the fax number field. WFS is using Windows Contact instead Outlook Contacts. I've tried everything of which I could think, and read every forum I could find on the web.
Steps I've tried:
1)Control Panel-> Programs-> Default Programs-> Set Default Programs->
Outlook I Checked all boxes (6 extensions, 6 protocols, 1 start menu).Technically,they re grayed out but checked.

Apr 9, 2009Windows just stops during virus scan (Trend Micro)- eventually have to crash it Sometimes during logon, Windows just wanders away....either have to crash it or eventually it will reboot. Cannot boot in safe mode. It will get so far in loading dll files and then reboots it self after a period of inactivity. Cannot download latest Windows security updates.
The symptoms sound like the conflicker worm so I've tried the Sysclean tool recommended by Trend Micro with the latest pattern file. The system stops at some point just as it does with the virus scan and I have to crash it. If I log on to the latop and just surf or play games, no problem. I've also run sfc /scannow which reports no problems.
Computer Freezes During Scan (be It Windows Defender, Anti-virus, Or SFC/scannow)
May 12, 2010This friend of mine has real problem with her laptop (Vista sp1)it was first noticed when her anti-virus did a scheduled scan. The anti-virus program hung whilst scanning the System32 folder.I tried with Windows Defender. Same thing, it hangs after a while.
I de-activated her anti-virus program (forgot the name. Not a well known brand) and downloaded/installed Avast, to no avail it also hangs whilst scanning the System32 folder.I also tried to scan using SFC/scannow. The PC freezes at 68 % of the scan.I tried these different manipulation in safe mode.Same results and everytime, the PC Freezes and I am obliged to do a hard stop/restart.
Deleting Windows Stock Wallpaper
May 23, 2009I'm wondering if it's ok to Delete any of the stock wallpapers that were included in Vista? I've found one of the folders which has a few that I have no use of, but still haven't located the other folder. I think there's at least 2, maybe? I'm thinking about downloading some new wallpapers and wanted to clear out some extra space. Also, when I get new wallpapers, can I add them directly to the Windows Wallpaper folder?

But, when I tried to install the x86 after deleting the x64 version, I now get an error that says that "Windows is unable to find a system volume that meets its criteria for installation." I have reformatted the drive and all else that I can think of, but, it it continues to throw the error message. What should I do? Dec 12, 2008Recently got the big update which successfully self-installed and I am running Vista Home Premium 32 bit and Windows Mail version 6.0. I went to my inbox, read my mail, and got out of Windows Mail. When I went to check mail again, I launched Windows Mail again and discovered that the program now deletes all opened mail. I cannot find a setting within the program that allows/denies this.
I run a business from home, and all the threads from my customer service efforts are gone. I am working blind. Every call now is a first time contact, and that makes me look very, very bad. how do I keep opened mail in my inbox (or elsewhere). Does anyone else have that problem and know a solution? Also, I deleted a large quantity of emails from other folders in case it was a memory problem; it all started concurrently with that update.

would really like to get sfc/scannow working Email with Acer America this Computer is still under Factory Warranty don't know what it covers, but they DON'T want me to return it to Store in Winnipeg where I purchased it don't know if I been screwed, this computer (LapTop) does Not have a Recovery partition, it has 1 disc C and 1 partition 232 GB (my Emachine Home Basic Desktop did have a Recovery Partition on D)
the Store made me set, 2 Discs after I complained and Acer sent me a set, 3.
Discs after some Emails already been at the store they are slick and have few answers , don't think I'll get far at the store.
