Recently when logging on to my e-mail account I lost all my saved messages, the only one left were in the inbox. Now every time I log on Windows Mail generates a "Recovered Messages" folder filled with lots of empty folders and no messages.

I've gone onto Windows Mail with Vista and everything seem to be fine for the first month deleting mails en masse until now. I've got 299 items in my deleted folder and I can't empty it other than
by deleting one at a time.
I'm using Windows Mail for my emails. When I exit the program, all the messages in the Delete Folder are permanently deleted. Under earlier versions you had the option of keeping messages in the delete folder when existing. I can't find that option in the current version of Windows Mail.

View 9 Replies View RelatedEmails are sent and arrive in my Windows Mailbox fine. I then create a folder and drag them to that folder no problems. When I create a subfolder however, and start dragging emails into the subfolder I find that the 1st email is fine but every subsequent one has been corrupted. That is to say that in each case the email content is erased and replaced with a duplication of the 1st email in that subfolder. Go figure. The email titles don't change so if you open the subfolder you
wouldn't realise what has happened.
It is only when you open each successive email that it becomes apparent that the content of every email has become identical. *Windows Mail folders: 1 email duplicates itself over all others in a folder, thereby erasing email content of all others* This was previously posted by two others and I have exactly the same problem.
Am sending messages that are not being received - it is not every message, and not to the same person (and no message that it could not be delivered!). I normally find out when I have not received an cknowledgement, or a reply, and I ring to find out why.
Second problem is that not all messages appear in the "sent" folder. Seems to be a random problem - not address related (ie messages sent to the same organisation - some appear in the sent folder, some do not).
Am using Vista Home Premium, with Avast.

I hope some one from Microsoft see this and they reconsider putting a update to re add this feature. I just got this computer and already I want to send it back. I really need folders to keep my contacts sorted. Either add the option or let me download the old Outlook to install. And buying Office outlook is not a option.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am currently using AOL 9.0 and Windows Vista. I had 2 years worth of incoming e-mails stored in my "Saved on AOL" mail folder online. I recently deleted all my temporary files, cookies, and web site browsing history by way of Windows Vista's "Internet Option" section under the "Control Panel" device. For some reason, all of my incoming e-mails stored in my "Saved on AOL" mail folder online were totally wiped out. Is there anyway to get these saved e-mails back?. Why did this happen as saved e-mails online are not supposed to be touched by any offline deleting of temporary files, cookies, and web site browsing history?. My "Saved on AOL" mail folder as well as my "Recently Deleted" folder are both totally empty.

I have my emails stored in a folder structure (gmail calls them "labels"), which was recreated and all the emails downloaded. So far, so good. But then WinMail downloaded all 1700 emails again in the All Mail folder. I bought a small SDD drive for my new machine and do not want all the emails stored locally twice. How do I configure WinMail to synchronize my folders, but not the All Mail folder, and then I can delete the All Mail folder? Or are there any other options I can use?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI just discovered that my Username and Inspiron Folders are empty, with a blank folder picture as icon. When I click on either one of them I get the "Open with" scenario. Yet by right-clicking I am able to access "Properties". According to it the folders were modified on July 5 and 6 respectively and not by me, of course. Is there a way to correct this and, if so, how? Have no idea what could have caused it and can live with it, if necessary. Nothing else is effected.

As this e-mail I use is the enterprise e-mail, I need it to work all the time I click in "send/recieve messages" and don't need it to work "when it decides to" and so, most of the times, I can't use the Windows Mail, but the site where I registered my e-mail in, which doesn't have all the resources the Windows Mail does. I recently moved and after setting up my computer, I am suddenly no longer able to send messages through windows mail. i haven't had problems with it before and find it odd that all of a sudden it is sending me an error message. still shows a number of unread items. If I close and re-open Windows Mail the figures disappear. I have looked through some recent posts and see mention of ghost messages in Deleted Items, but in my case this shows up in all mail folders. I also saw that it was asked a few times whether an anti-virus program is running, so if this is relevant I am running AVG Internet Security 7.5.
Email messages have been stuck in my Outbox since Thursday morning. When I try to send/receive messages, new emails come to my inbox but no messages ever get sent. I've tried moving them to drafts, then reopening them and sending, but nothing has been successful.

I've used the same method in viewing them for quite some time now, but using the same method after getting this new laptop with vista installed isn't showing me the files. I was using Outlook (not Outlook Express) running under Windows XP on my old computer. I carefully backed up all my folders in which I keep my e-mail messages. I want to import the folders into Windows Mail running under Windows Vista on my new computer. When I try, the menu invites me to select the format I want to import e-mail from and I select Microsoft Outlook. I then get an error message saying "Messages cannot be imported from the MAPI client". Of course , this means nothing to me. Can anyone help ? Does it mean that I must go out and buy a new version of Outlook ?

Well, my computer crashed out and I had to get a new hard drive. I tried to follow the instructions from the previously solved thread, but I can not find the "desktop.ini". When I go to the users folder inside my choices are Administrator and Public and I can not find the "desktop.ini" file. I have windows vista.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a strange problem. My documents folder doesnt show the content, although a lot of content exists. When typing a subfolders name in the addressbar, I can see the contents of this subfolder. Also in the command shell the "dir" command doesnt show me any content of the documents-folder. But I can access subdirectories via "cd subdirectory". The content of the subdirectory can be listed via "dir".
When I select "properties" after right-clicking the documents folder vista shows me the size of the folder and the number of files found. I have already tried the chkdsk...Everything worked fine until today. Has anybody got an idea what could be the reason for this strange behaviour?
