Apr 10, 2008my windows mail stopped sending messages a few days ago. still recieves. tried to delete and add account again but still won't work. same account works on my laptop. both have vista.

Apr 9, 2008Well after several years of using port 25 for Comcast email my laptop suddenly stopped sending out mail. After a little tinkering I realized that if I used port 587 for outgoing mail all is well.
My question is why did this occur on just my laptop and not my PC? They both are on the same router and I'm pretty diligent with keeping Windows updated, spyware sweeps, virus definitions, etc. What controls this process of disabling port 25 for outgoing mail? I would doubt if Comcast could even see or reach my laptop. You'd think that such a change would be widespread or at the least force me to use port 587 on both of my computers. I should point out that one pc uses Vista while the other is running XP.

As this e-mail I use is the enterprise e-mail, I need it to work all the time I click in "send/recieve messages" and don't need it to work "when it decides to" and so, most of the times, I can't use the Windows Mail, but the site where I registered my e-mail in, which doesn't have all the resources the Windows Mail does. Windows Mail:Email Messages Stuck In Outbox
Apr 19, 2008Email messages have been stuck in my Outbox since Thursday morning. When I try to send/receive messages, new emails come to my inbox but no messages ever get sent. I've tried moving them to drafts, then reopening them and sending, but nothing has been successful.

I've used the same method in viewing them for quite some time now, but using the same method after getting this new laptop with vista installed isn't showing me the files. Windows Mail- Not Sending
Jun 6, 2008I have recently purchased a new computer (Dell Inspiron ) running Windows desktop home premium. I transferred everything over from the old computer to the new and everything works splendidly, except Windows Mail. I am not for sure if this problem surfaced after a short period of using my new computer or if this was there from the get-go, but I cannot get my Windows mail to send. It receives just fine, on all accounts and sends fine on all accounts but my main one. I have a mail server with my domain hosting service and every time I attempt to send mail through this account I get the Windows security box that says logon to my mail server. I typed in username and password, click okay, and wait. The box pops back up and says logon again. Apparently for some reason it's not accepting my user name and password. I've gone through all the settings with tech support, including using the various ports they recommend. Still no go. I don't know what else I can do, I don't even know where the problem is emanating from, all I know is I cannot send my e-mail using my primary account.

Jun 23, 2008windows mail has trouble sending and recieving e-mail, it will download 4 or 5 messages and then lock up on one for hours till we have to cnacel and re-recieve the mail then we get duplicates of everything and then it will lock up on a different message. most messages have to be sent twice to go through mainly sending quickbooks stuff, invoices etc.. I have read a few posts so far about this we have norton antivirus. Norton says windows mail problem or isp problem. isp says norton problem email scanning is off.

Apr 28, 2010I have been using Windows Mail with Vista Home Premium 32 bit and Norton 360 for about two years now. All has worked very well, but lately every so often (not all the time) when I click send on an email it disappears and does not get sent, and a message comes up and says windows mail had a problem and to check windows for new updates. The computer has all new updates. So I have to create my email all over and click send again and then it goes. This is frustrating when it is a long email to someone and it is just gone. Where does it go? I can't find it anywhere. It's just gone.
Has this happened to anyone? I have turned off the antispam feature on Norton to see if this helps, I'll keep you updated as it may be days before it does it again. Like I said it only does it every once in awhile, specially when it is real important.

There is no error message but I looked into it a little closer after not getting replies from several email I had sent out. The email go into my out box and appear to leave as normal when sent. I have tried emptying my out box, checked all settings with my ISP, and read a lot of post with out seeing anything else to try.

Jul 29, 2009I have read most of the recent posts here regarding not being able to send or receive email with Windows Mail. I now have the same problem (it is recent).
- Verizon is my ISP
- I am using Vista 64
- Norton is my A/V
- I downloaded Windows Live and tried that as well.. still not working
- Here are my email settings:
Incoming mail (POP3): incoming.verizon.net
Outgoing mail (SMTP): outgoing.verizon.net
I have logon with secure authentication checked and outgoing server requiring authentication checked. on the Advanced tab I have tried with both the SSL boxes checked and unchecked.............
