I have Vista. Approximately 5 days ago, I tried to Delete my Deleted Mail Folder and it won't delete. I have to delete every message separately. I downloaded the 32-Bit Version 941090 package yesterday, it still does not work. I did have an automatice update a few days ago, and I am beginning to think that is when it stopped working properly.

I can not delete emails from Deleted Items folder in Windows Mail. Can anyone tell me how to do this--I have 36 emails in there that can not be deleted. I can delete any new emails after these 36 but can not delete these 36 emails. View 7 Replies View RelatedI know there are many threads on the above and have tried downloading the KB041090 fix. I do use 32bit Vista Home s/ware. However, it says that this programme fix is not applicable to my system....so I also tried the 64bit patch and this gave me the same response. Everything was running just fine until about a week ago....
I do use Norton Antivirus, but it expired about a week ago and I have reinstalled it today - neither action seems to have made a difference to the fix issue. I currently have about 200 e-mails that I could do with getting rid of...
1. I lost almost all of my contacts for no reason-I need to retrieve them!
2. I cannot delete all the items from my deleted folder. I've tried downloading off support.microsoft.com and when I do it I get a message "the update does not aply to your system".
I'm running OL2007 on a Vista Ultimate machine. All has been well for the past year, but lately, I have run into the problem described below. It seems to happen most often when I address an e-mail to multiple recipients. It shows stuck in the outbox, although it appears that most of the time it does get sent. I often get a message to the effect that "Sent Items folder is full, delete some of the messages" (it doesn't have any more messages in it than usual, I purge them regularly).
Then, I find I can't delete the offending file. I get a simple "Folder is full" message. Also, I cannot delete any files from my deledted folder I now have 2090 files stuck in my deleted files, 6 emails stuck in my outbox. I cannot rely on sending any email from my home computer and now am relying on my lotus notes at work. I have contaced Dell - no help. I have observed all information in the discussion groups, The Intel IT people who are my neighbors have ried to address this. I am one of many experienceing this problem - even Intel staff have the same uncorrectable problem. Could Microsoft work on this issue ASAP as it is forcing me to use other email addresses and doesn't allow me to continue to work form home....
I despair. Until recently I was running OE on Windows 98 and I regularly had problems with this same issue. I've gone onto Windows Mail with Vista and everything seem to be fine for the first month deleting mails en masse until now. I've got 299 items in my deleted folder and I can't empty it other than
by deleting one at a time.
Can't seem to delete everything in my folder. I can only delete one at a time. Tried going into tools..advanced ..maintenance..empty messages from 'Deleted Folder' on exit. Nothing happens even after I restart the computer.

Under earlier versions you had the option of keeping messages in the delete folder when existing. I can't find that option in the current version of Windows Mail.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI've recently done a clean install of VISTA Ultimate on a new hard disk. This is an upgrade copy, so I used the "old" disk and ran it from there. Vista runs on the C drive now, but I can't free up space on the "old" D drive because I can't delete the Windows folder or any of the files or folders in it. I'm denied access. Tried the Administrator account trick. Tried everything. Disk clean up tool. This is my biggest complaint with running VISTA for the past year: I can't access my own computer because I'm told I don't have permission! I built them, I run a home network of 3 machines and I'm continually told I don't have permission to do what I want or need to do. UAC is off.

When permanetely deleting 1 folder it deletes the folders below and they seem gone forever. Searched for emails and folders and they are gone. Must be on the drive somewhere (forensics?)

View 4 Replies View RelatedIn my previous email program of choice, Outlook Express, I used to beable to select the "to" function within the email message template and see a display of contacts that included the FOLDERS. In Windows Mail, the same action calls up ALL the contacts and NO folders. ALthough I can select multiple contacts from the Windows Contacts folder and through "action", install them in the "To" pane of an email message, I cannot jump from folder to folder to, for example, select contacts within another folder whom I wish to CC on the same message. The "Action" sequence always generates a new email template, posting any selected contact or contacts to the "To" pane.
I do not wish to create GROUPS and then go through the convoluted process of calling up the group in the "To" pane, and then deleting the ones I don't want. Needless to say, this feature was critical to my email flow and organization. Am I missing something? I have checked every forum and group I can. Others report the same issue without resolution. One forum individual said, "That's the way Windows Mail is".

Now, when I delete an email from my "Inbox," it does NOT appear in my "Deleted Items" folder. It just seems to disappear. I did read many of the earlier posts and have tried the suggestions. I've gone to Tools>Options>Advanced>Maintenance - the "Empty messages from the Deleted Items folder on exit" is NOT checked. I've also gone to Current View "Show all messages" - that's identified/checked. Is there something else that I can do? I'd appreciate any suggestions. This is the first time I've used

I cant deleted some invalid paths and shortcuts in the system....
Here when I open any application and try to insert or open a file for that application, I am facing the problem.
For Example,
In VLC Player, I click on Media --> Open File
This gives you the Box to select the file you want and in the bottom of that small window in the " File name " box, you will be having a drop down box to select the file.
Here all the deleted files are listed with the file name and path, which was deleted months ago...
When you select the file it says, "Path does not exist, try again"
So, I think all the invalid shortcuts are stored some where in the system, which displays there.
So we need to deleted that particular cache.
I found out that there is something called " Indexed Cache " in Vista, which saves all the shortcuts as the files are stored.
I need to find out how to delete the file shortcuts from that location.
Similiar issue is there in Outlook 2007, when I compose a new message and insert file.
It gives the drop down box like the above issue with all the deleted files path.
I tried rebuilding the Indexing Options as advised before.
It didnt work.
I performed all the basic steps, like deleting cookies,temp files from system,ran chkdsk,disk cleanup, and also used some popular and unpopular cleaning software and nothing worked.
I used to be able to right click on the Windows mail "deleted Items" folder and obtain options such as "clear folder" This is no longer working. What can I do to restore this feature.
