Jul 29, 2009Now have Vista Prem, had XP, can't find above menu. Also, when I del a mail, two mails get del, and I can't get them back.

Inbox Working, Outbox Broken
Apr 1, 2008This morning I have been receiving email in my inbox, but my outbox appears to be broken. Outgoing mail piles up and whenever I try to send it I get an error message. I can manually delete messages out of the outbox, so it is not the problems with "stuck" outgoing messages (although I did experience that problem a few months ago).

Apr 12, 2009The scroll bar in dropdown menu of the address bar is missing in IE8, I am not sure whether it was there originally and I have noticed that the same addresses remain in the dropdown menu. Jul 24, 2009Okay just re-confirmed a solution to two simultaneous problems that I think will be helpful to folks. Soon after I got my Vista x64 pc I started noticing huge constant CPU usage spikes attributed to dcomlaunch.
Turned out it was my ATI video card's HDMI audio driver. Go to device manager, expand sound, video and game controllers, and disable "ATI HDMI Audio". Problem solved instantly. My CPU usage dropped from ~30-40% constant use to <5% average.
Fast-forward 6 months after I upgrade to sp2. I notice that in PhotoShop and a couple other apps that use old-school file open/save dialog boxes, I can't choose a new file location from the "Look in:" drop-down menu at the top of the box. Every time I click it, the menu opens and then immediately closes again. Infuriating! A couple days later I notice my CPU has been working overtime too. Could it be the ATI HDMI Audio device is active again?
Yup, there it was active again. And this time I see there are (2) of these devices (I have 2 ati cards) and my CPU usage was up to >60% average! (2 x 30%). Insane. Again, I disable and usage drops back to nearly 0. Yay!
Amazingly, this ALSO SOLVED the problem with the file open / file save drop down menus. I re-enabled the ATI devices to test and confirmed that this was the cause of both the CPU usage AND the odd problem with the pop-up menus closing instantly.
Emails Not On Server Until Deleted Inbox
May 18, 2010I got a new Motorola Droid and have set it up to receive my emails (it was done at the Verizon store) Ever since then, the emails are streaming straight through to my phone and not accessible on my laptop. I have gone into the account options and checked "save a copy of email on server until deleted from inbox", but I still cannot access any of my emails on my laptop.

Would you like to use your defult account to send this message? even if i hit yes..or even no..it does nothing ad keeps poping up with that when i get into windows mail or try to send a message.

Feb 14, 2009I have two websites that have 4 email addresses that I have forwared to my personal email inbox (Windows Mail). This way I can have all my emails in one place and I dont have to visit more than one spot to check emails. I am hosting with Network Solutions. I went online to Network Solutions and confirmed that I have set up the protocols so that all my website emails are being forwarded to my personal email address. Everything is set up correctly and I haven't had any problems in the last year until 2 days ago. I sent out test emails and nothing is coming into my personal email address. Nada. However, if i address and email directly to my personal email address, the email comes in and everything is fine. There seems to be a glitch with the website email addresses being forwarded to my personal email. Also, when I went online to Net. Solutions, the emails are not on the server there. It is a mystery. Just thought I'd put this topic out there and see if any Mr. or Mrs. Fix It would come along and put me out of my misery.

Apr 14, 2009I was testing Vista for one year and at the end I am going back to the XP. I not interested in appearance. The system should work and I do not care if it have transparent windows or not. It have to be fast and have all function I had in former System (Windows XP in my case) What am I lacking in Vista:
1.No search i context menu
2.No drag and drop to command prompt
3.No folder backup (ntbackup)
4 Eating more than 1GB ram
5 More clicking to get to the same properties
Can any of you tell me why should I stay with Vista? It is your last chance to convinced me.

Email Stays In Outbox Until I Close Windows Mail
May 26, 2008When using Windows Mail, after I try to send an email, it remains in my outbox until I close down the Windows Mail. When I reopen Windows Mail, the message has moved to the sent folder, but is there a way I can send a mail without having to shut-down the program everytime? My status is showing as 'Working Online' and I have tried clicking the 'Send and Receive' but this doesnt resolve the problem.

Mar 31, 2009My computer crashed and I currently have my hard drive set up externally to copy the information off of it onto another computer. I was using Windows Mail that came with Vista on my old computer when it crashed. I've been able to salvage my data, but would like to find my messages stored in my Inbox in Windows Mail. I cannot open the program (Windows Mail) currently, but will be able to open it when my new computer arrives. For now, I'm copying needed files off my hard drive and storing them temporarily on my children's computer. I do not know what folders from Windows Mail, or Windows perhaps, that I need to save in order to hopefully open my saved inbox messages.

Sep 25, 2009I have gone through the tutorial to replace the missing links to vista programs and it worked which is good but. I noticed in my All Programs list yesterday that for some reason there were two folders named Programs and me thinking I must of duplicated it somehow deleted the one inside the other. Well it turned out I deleted all of the links to Vista programs as well as any program I had installed and had Start Menu shortcuts to.
Any way, besides manually creating shortcuts, to recreate these shortcuts? I have tried searching deleted files with recovery programs but to no avail as well as tons of other suggestions on the internet from going into the registry to what you suggest.

Sep 1, 2009Permanently Deleted Folder and the folder below disappeared. how to recover. I also set up a couple of test folders after this happened and moved to deleted file. When permanetely deleting 1 folder it deletes the folders below and they seem gone forever. Searched for emails and folders and they are gone. Must be on the drive somewhere (forensics?)

When I try to delete the mail it will not delete, when I try to move the mail to the junk mailbox it cannot be moved, when I try to send the mail it cannot send. I've tried shutting down Windows mail and restarting, I tried shutting down the computer, I've tried changing the "sender" e-mail addy, tried changing the "to" e-mail addy. This mail is now blocking other mails I am trying to send.
