View 5 Replies View RelatedI know there are many threads on the above and have tried downloading the KB041090 fix. I do use 32bit Vista Home s/ware. However, it says that this programme fix is not applicable to my system....so I also tried the 64bit patch and this gave me the same response. Everything was running just fine until about a week ago....
I do use Norton Antivirus, but it expired about a week ago and I have reinstalled it today - neither action seems to have made a difference to the fix issue. I currently have about 200 e-mails that I could do with getting rid of...
1. I lost almost all of my contacts for no reason-I need to retrieve them!
2. I cannot delete all the items from my deleted folder. I've tried downloading off support.microsoft.com and when I do it I get a message "the update does not aply to your system".
I can not delete emails from Deleted Items folder in Windows Mail. Can anyone tell me how to do this--I have 36 emails in there that can not be deleted. I can delete any new emails after these 36 but can not delete these 36 emails. Can someone email me at this email address below and tell me how to delete these 36 emails in Deleted Items folder of Windows Mail
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been using Windows Mail for 18 months without any significant problems.
Now, when I delete an email from my "Inbox," it does NOT appear in my "Deleted Items" folder. It just seems to disappear. I did read many of the earlier posts and have tried the suggestions. I've gone to Tools>Options>Advanced>Maintenance - the "Empty messages from the Deleted Items folder on exit" is NOT checked. I've also gone to Current View "Show all messages" - that's identified/checked. Is there something else that I can do? I'd appreciate any suggestions. This is the first time I've used
the Discussion Group, so I hope that I'm doing this correctly.
I can't empty my folder deleted messages. Following message appears: unknown error occurs.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have three Web based e-mail accounts. One of them is a good 'Google Mail' account. It is different to the other two accounts in the way that it does not have a 'Deleted Items Folder' as such. What the account contains is:
'Google Mail'
'All Mail'
'Drafts'
'Sent items'
'Spam'
'Starred'
'Trash'
Recently I signed up to a Website to receive their news literature in the form of an e-mail. I have since undersubscribed to the Website so that they may not send me any more of their newsletter e-mails. I have three of their e-mails all in the row in the 'All Mail' folder. I have tried deleting all three of those e-mails and they disappear at first. When I go to another folder and then come back to the 'All Mail' folder, the three e-mails are back again. I have tried to get rid of them many times but every time I go back to this folder, they are come back again..........
All of a sudden I can no longer see my deleted or sent items in Windows Mail. The views on the folders are all set up correctly to show all and I can send and delete OK.
If I right click on the? Sent? folder it tells me the number of items in there which increases by one every time I send a mail? .I just can't see any of the mails. The 'Deleted' folder is even in bold indicating unread messages....if I could see them!
I have right clicked on folder and selected "empty deleted items folder", but am unable to empty it in one click.I have to delete each item one at a time to empty folder, and obviously this takes some time,as the inevitable question " are you sure" appears before I am allowed to do this.Does anyone have the solution?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have just bought a new pc with Vista Home Premium x64. Problem is that the recycle bin won't show deleted items. The bin just looks empty. If I click on empty recycle bin it prompts me if I want to delete these 16 (or whatever number) items, so they must be there but will not display. I have tried displaying hidden files and checked in recycle bin properties that files are not deleted rather than placed in the bin to no avail. If I click restore items nothing happens.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently made a back up of all my Windows Mail folders. Looking through them, I was amazed to find that the Deleted Items folder still contains a copy of every single file that I had ever deleted. I had thought that once the preview screen showed "There are no items in this view" all the files would have been removed from the computer especially since the option to "Show All Messages" is selected. Is this a feature of Windows Mail or is there some setting somewhere that I need to tweak to avoid this? If I emptied the folder manually would this cause any problems?

View 0 Replies View Relatedi runned some optimization programs on my vista system, and i think it changed something in the registry. Now, when i delete an item from recent items list on startup menu (right click -> delete), it displays "are you sure you want to move this item to the recycle bin? ". by clicking "yes", it moves the corresponding shortcut of this item into recycle bin.
before i runned this optimation, when i delete an item from recent items list, there is no this delete confirmation dialog, and it removes this item from recent items list without moving the shortcut to recycle bin. (for regular file delete operations, it asks for this confirmation and move files to recycle bin as usual. the only difference is about the deletion on recent items list.) is there a way to fix this problem? i don't want this delete confirmation dialog because i am only deleting a shortcut (not the exact file.)
I have a issue to delete my mail in the delete folder. I clicked on Edit then on 'delete items...' But nothing happens. It is one heck of a task to delete one by one Need to delete all at once.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm running OL2007 on a Vista Ultimate machine. All has been well for the past year, but lately, I have run into the problem described below. It seems to happen most often when I address an e-mail to multiple recipients. It shows stuck in the outbox, although it appears that most of the time it does get sent. I often get a message to the effect that "Sent Items folder is full, delete some of the messages" (it doesn't have any more messages in it than usual, I purge them regularly).
Then, I find I can't delete the offending file. I get a simple "Folder is full" message. Also, I cannot delete any files from my deledted folder I now have 2090 files stuck in my deleted files, 6 emails stuck in my outbox. I cannot rely on sending any email from my home computer and now am relying on my lotus notes at work. I have contaced Dell - no help. I have observed all information in the discussion groups, The Intel IT people who are my neighbors have ried to address this. I am one of many experienceing this problem - even Intel staff have the same uncorrectable problem. Could Microsoft work on this issue ASAP as it is forcing me to use other email addresses and doesn't allow me to continue to work form home....
I have Vista. Approximately 5 days ago, I tried to Delete my Deleted Mail Folder and it won't delete. I have to delete every message separately. I downloaded the 32-Bit Version 941090 package yesterday, it still does not work. I did have an automatice update a few days ago, and I am beginning to think that is when it stopped working properly.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am also facing a similiar issue, like given in the thread - Cannot delete shortcut file
I cant deleted some invalid paths and shortcuts in the system....
Here when I open any application and try to insert or open a file for that application, I am facing the problem.
For Example,
In VLC Player, I click on Media --> Open File
This gives you the Box to select the file you want and in the bottom of that small window in the " File name " box, you will be having a drop down box to select the file.
Here all the deleted files are listed with the file name and path, which was deleted months ago...
When you select the file it says, "Path does not exist, try again"
So, I think all the invalid shortcuts are stored some where in the system, which displays there.
So we need to deleted that particular cache.
I found out that there is something called " Indexed Cache " in Vista, which saves all the shortcuts as the files are stored.
I need to find out how to delete the file shortcuts from that location.
Similiar issue is there in Outlook 2007, when I compose a new message and insert file.
It gives the drop down box like the above issue with all the deleted files path.
I tried rebuilding the Indexing Options as advised before.
It didnt work.
I performed all the basic steps, like deleting cookies, temp files from system, ran chkdsk, disk cleanup, and also used some popular and unpopular cleaning software and nothing worked.
i have read where the deleted items are still some where in my pc its just a process to find them. and then some say i am out of luck. that it is lost for ever. i know it is movies i am about to quote. but how do people delete there emails. and the goverment can bring the files back up. again i know this is movie lines. but i believe there is a way to find them. they should still be on the hard drive or somewhere.
View 7 Replies View RelatedMy wife changed her email address. I dutifully went into contacts and made the change. The old address was completely deleted and "Contacts" now show ONLY her new address. However, when I open "Send Mail" and type her name, the old address continually pops up. Mail seems to have an odd set of rules as to which email address it will use, unfortunately, I have no idea what these rules are.
