How do I get the autocomplete feature to work on WMail like it does in Outlook? When I create email using Send To and start typing in the TO block, it will recognize two or three of the addresses in my address book but not the whole list of A's, B's, or whatever. When I do same in Outlook, it autocompletes until the correct address comes up.

View 5 Replies View Relatedmy ISP is Charter, but I do not use charter for my email. I use AOL. My parents have AOL and I have a screen name that I use b/c I have had that email for years. I am trying to set up my Windows Mail (I think this is basically outlook???) I typed in my pop3/smtp and so on. It then prompted me to log in so windows could verify and proceed on. Well, I did my AOL screenname and password and it is not working. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I just can't seem to get my AOL mail into outlook so I can use just outlook.

Anyway, before doing so I was wondering if there is any value to keeping and using Windows mail. I really want to transfere all my information over to my new PC. View 6 Replies View RelatedI've just upgraded to a new pc with vista and windows mail from Xp & outlook express (with virgin). To save my files and emails etc I used windows easy transfer software and copied the files to an external hard drive and then loaded it to the new PC. I initially had problems as my modem didn't install but virgin sent me a wireless connector and all seemed OK. However, when I click on send/receive mail I get an error message 'some errors occured while processing the requsted tasks - please see details below.' But there are no details! I have 3 email addresses.
If I click on the little arrow next to send/rec and then click on each email separately there is no problem. Equally, if I click on 'receive all' there is no problem. When I click on send/rec the first time I open windows mail there is no problem, but thereafter always the error message. I've had Virgin remotely controlling the pc for 90 minutes and they can't suss it!
Also, bizarrely at the top of the page it says inbox - outlook express provided by virgin net even though I appear to be running windows mail (it certainly isn't the usual outlook I have on my old pc). Did I inadvertently load outlook as well as my emails on top of windows mail and they've kind of merged?
I've been getting by with Windows Mail for a while, but miss Outlook from when I last had it. Windows Mail just seems so slow and klugy by comparison--and the Calendar is also usable, but annoying. What do you all think? Outlook worth the investment for someone who is a heavy user with their own business?

Outlook finds old mail files (from Outlook express) and imports them perfectly. Problem is they are not my windows mail files. I dont know where outlook is looking for the files or how to find the outlook files to delete them and move the windows mail files to where Outlook is looking.

My question: after I configure the ingoing and outgoing mail servers for Windows Mail, will this disable my Outlook functionability? Furthermore, Windows Mail has got a lot worse search feature than Outlook express. When searching for emails, it will not find all the emails. For instants, when I'm searching for parts of an email address, it finds only the messages for 2008. I would like to have Outlook Express on my Vista Home Premium system.
I am using Windows Mail but I think my Outlook 2007 is getting in the way. As follows:
1. If I click on an address inside an email to create a new email then despite my being in Windows Masil it pops up as an Outlook email.
2. If I click on address on a website it defaults to my Outlook
3. And some addresses do not appear when I begin to type them despite the fact that they are in Windows Mail address book, I assume because they are duplicatess from my Outlook address book, though I can't find them there.etc etc.
How do I disable Outlook and just stick with Windows Mail (which is not half as good as Outlook Express but alas, with Vista, can now not be used)
I have Exported my Windows Mail to Microsoft Exchange multiple times this morning, but I can't seem to find the .PST file it made. I have checked for *.PST in all indexed locations as well as all the hard drives in this computer. It made me create a profile (lvsysop) and I have searched the same locations for 'lvsysop' and "lvsysop.pst", but I can't find the file Windows Mail made. I've also checked for "outlook' and "Outlook.pst".Did it make a .PST file and if not what file did it make? It sure looked like it was making something as it scanned through the folders in Windows Mail.

View 4 Replies View RelatedJust migrated from Outlook Express on XP-SP3 to Windows Mail on Vista. Trying to import .dbx files from OE to WM - and following the import "wizard". Having selected the drive where the .dbox files definitely are, I get the message "No messages can be found in this folder or another application is running that has the required files open" Windows Explorer confirms the files are in the selected drive and I am quite unaware of any other file which might be using them. Any ideas what I may be doing wrong/how to solve ?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI bought a new home computer with Vista to replace an old one running XP. Outlook Express came with XP, while Vista has Windows Mail instead. I used to be able to set it up to get my MSN mail from within Outlook Express, which I have yet to figure out how to do the same with Windows Mail. I heard that Windows mail cannot take in webmail like MSN. Is that true? Is that is true, then two obvious questions.
1) Why would Microsoft go backward and remove a functionality from newer mail program that comes with the operating system?
2) Both Windows Mail and MSN are Microsoft products, so how can it be possible that they don't connect? Can anyone enlighten me before I throw in the tower and move back to XP?
I have recently changed computers thinking I would be making life easier for myself, but of course that never happens! I used to access my website emails via outlook, one click on the icon and youre in. Now ,I have a different software package of MSoffice and there is no outlook, only windows mail. I have tried to consult my website designer about accessing my email, but they are proving less than responsive.I have all the passwords and pop3 addresses etc but everytime i try to set up the emails, its says server not found.
What can I do to get at my emails? Vista's Windows Mail worked fine for a couple of weeks, then suddenly, for no reason, XP's Outlook Express appeared, and Windows Mail disappeared. Every email, including those that I had deleted in XP going back to January '09 showed up; and now when I send an email, it doesn't show up in the "sent" box.
