Start Up Does Not Completely Stops Load Sidebar
May 19, 2008my windows vista home premium doesnot start up completely It stops when it has to load the sidebar and the programs that are in the start up file like my virusscanner After a few minutes it automatically continues the start up and loads all programs which are in the startup folder I just bought this vista and it worked fine I dont know what went wrong I disabled all start up folders and services but I cannot locate the problem

Recovering Windows Mail System Restore Doesn't Work
Mar 31, 2008I'm sure this problem is easy to solve. It's just that I can't see it.Because Vista has been causing me so many problems (blue crash screens, system restore doesn't work etc) I must restore to factory settings, wiping the c: disk and starting again. I have backed up all files on an external drive. The problem is that I can't see how to import all my mail accounts and mail history back into Windows Mail which will have been reloaded from new.

May 25, 2008I would like to check the memory for errors BEFORE I load/install Windows Vista Home Premium x64 to avoid install hang-ups. Can you make an ISO CD of this program, load it in your CD/DVD drive and check your memory for errors? I recently updated the BIOS on the board (DP35DP) and it does show all of the 4GB of Kingston ValueRam PC800 1.8v (2x2gb) installed. I have good reason to believe that it's from a respectable manufacturer. Just want to make sure the memory is good before I load up the OS.

Apr 30, 2009I currently have a Purple outline that is going all the way around the Windows Vista Sidebar... it's not over the entire thing, but it's around the Weather gadget. I'm not sure why it's there.. restarting PC, and sidebar didn't help. It's still there. The weather gadget basically has a ring of Purple around it that has never been there before. anyone know what this is about?see the purple.. it's more visible in person, and much worse looking.

May 28, 2008Today I started experiencing some strange problems with Vista's sidebar. I've never had this problem before and I've spent hours trying to fix the problem. Basically the problem I'm having looks something like this:
I've just dragged a few of the default gadgets to the sidebar to show you the problem I'm having. The Weather gadget seems to be the only one that is functioning correctly. I also cannot install user created gadgets from gallery.live.com.
I've already tried the many different combinations of re-registering various DLL files that I've seen around on the Internet but this hasn't made a difference. Could this be a problem with Java or XML? Is there a way of totally reinstalling the Vista Sidebar without having to a) do a System Restore or b) create a Vista installation disk to do a repair with?
OC To Over 10%, Vista Won't Load
Sep 7, 2008I bought an ASUS Striker II Formula, and it the DVD it has comes with a lot a stuff to install. One of them is AI Suite, which has a couple of features including the OC program AI booster. For some reason when I try to OC to over 10%, Vista won't load. If anyone knows a better OC program please tell me or help me with this program. The version of AI Suite is 1.03.16. Just so you know, when I overclock to 10%, my CPU temperature stays at or under 40 degrees Celsius. When every CPU core is a 100%, the temperature is 56 degrees Celsius.

Oct 10, 2008i have Corsair XMS2 DDR2 1GBx2 memory sticks in my computer, i installed vista with this Ram and then after installation decided to place another 2GB's of RAM. My issue currently is that Windows Vista will not load with 4GB's of Ram or even 3GB's. When i try to re-install Windows Vista with the new RAM in my pc restarts before installation begins, when i plug the ram in and try to run Vista normally, it either restarts at the loading screen or just crashes completely......
I have heard that there is a windows update which may resolve this issue however you need 3GB's of RAM installed, which my computer wont allow. Any Bios related or any solution in general, could you please go into great detail and if possible step by step guides of how to fix this problem, i have a basic bios knowledge however take my knowledge as 0. (I have also Updated Vista to SP1 and have completed all Vital Updates)
Can't Vista Load
Mar 24, 2008the problem is that i can't get vista to load. it has told me that winlog.exe is corrupt and that i need to run start up repair. the main problem with this is that windows won't start so i can't run the repair program i have ran the advanced boot options as suggested in the help and support options. i dont see the repair comp option. i have tried every other option, nothing is working. what do i do? and more importantly how do i do it?

Jul 21, 2009My situation i have a set duel channel 1 gig a-dat memory ddr 400 2gig total memory works for 3 years, still works great. I bought the same memory, set duel channel 1 gig a-dat memory ddr 400 and installed them on my vista 64 bit system the bios reads 4gig np but windows will not load (windows error recovery) no specific error listed. I then took out my original memory and left the new in the newly used duel chanel slots on my motherboard. Both the new memory and the previuosly unused ram slots work fine. I have repeatly installed all 4 gig same problem (windows error recovery) and always works fine with either set of in either duel chanels on my motherboard. I have windows vista 64 bit.

Oct 14, 2009I just purchased a new HP desktop, INtel core 2 Quad processor, 64 bit performance with 8gb of ram, 1 Terrabyte hard drive. It came with Vista home premium 64 bit edition. I had previously purchased Vista Ultimate for a laptop that no longer works. When I downloaded Vista Ultimate I put in the 32 bit instead of the 64. I am not able to do a restore to go back to the way I purchased it. I am not very computer savvy. And what would be the down fall for keeping the 32 bit installed (somone had told me I wouldn't be using the full capicity of the computer).

a) Windows Update- Windows update is failing to load any new updates available, after selecting "check for updates" i am responded with an immediate error; it states. Windows could not search for new updates. Error(s) found: Code 80040154. Get help I have googled my error code but not many responses. So thats my first concern
b)Live Messenger 8.1- Secondly, i was shocked to find my msn wasn't working (works on web based version, so cant be wrong login details) first the typing was slow then i get the error code: 800401f3 denying me login. I searched up the code and found i had to type up some things in cmd...........

I went to the Vista repair utility command prompt and attempted to run sfc /scannow, but was given "Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service."

Mar 23, 2008I've been getting the same blue screen as early as attempting to load the Vista install PE environment from the DVD. Would like some specifics as to what that is pointing to. Initially, I had a bad stick of RAM. I have since RMA'd the RAM, and tested the new RAM. I'm not showing any errors with the new RAM. It does it irregardless of 64 bit mode, or 128 bit mode. Mar 23, 2008I'm sure everyone knows that Windows Sidebar can potentially destroy the amount of RAM that is available on your PC, but I'm having sort of an unusual problem with this. When Windows Sidebar is loaded, the amount of RAM that it occupies is about 20MB, which is certainly acceptable for me. However, after the course of 6 or so hours the RAM increases upwards of 120MB, and after 12 hours, nearly 200MB! This just doesn't seem right. I'm assuming Sidebar is stored some previous information via RAM, but I really can't see this information being necessary at all. Is there anyway I can put a cap on the amount of RAM that Sidebar uses? Or even some other method to reduce the RAM usage?

I can bring it up and add gadgets but they don't function properly and they only have an X on the right hand side (no magnifying glass to edit options). Oct 29, 2009I've been getting that message for a while. When I try to look at the Sidebar properties, which I find using the Start/Search feature, nothing opens. When I go to the Sidebar folder in C:/Program Files/Windows Sidebar, there are 3 items there: a subfolder labeled Gadgets, a Configuration Settings icon labeled Settings, and a Sidebar application icon. If I click on the application icon, I just get the "Windows sidebar is not working" message. All of this happened after a System Restore a couple of months ago.
