View 4 RepliesI posted eariler about not being to uninstall Nero 9. It was suggested that I just delete the directories and remove the entries from the registry. Well, I am doing that now. And I'l like to comment, I've never seen an application with so much shitty crap in the resistry before.....
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhile browsing with Firefox I randomly get a virus notification, and a program pops up masquerading as my windows. I ignore it, and kill the process, named b.exe. AVG reports infection after infection, and after cleaning them all it mentions that I'm required to restart to finish the process. I go to restart, but it's taking forever, and in my impatience I hit the power button. Now windows won't boot - even in safe mode - and it keeps crashing on some ***disk.sys file when trying to boot in safe mode. In normal mode, it blue screens with an error about failing to load a registry cluster. I used a vista cd to do a recovery, and the automatic recovery failed. However, I couldn't delete the files, because apparently some process was using them. CTRL+ALT+DEL doesn't bring up the process menu in recovery mode, and i tried the commands ps, process, pskill and others to no avail
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am trying to uninstall nero 7, so I can puy nero 8 on. The installer keep crashing and won't let me uninstall 7. If i try installing nero 8, it gets to the part where it tells me it has to uninstall 7 first and then stops. If I go through the uninstall programe it is gathering information and then tells me the uninstall has stopped working and is sending a report.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have always been able to burn CDs without a problem. It had been a while but a few days ago i had tried to burn a CD with windows media player using MP3s from my hard drive. first the error with windows media player is that it begins to write all songs without analysing which it used to do, the burn rate literally increases every second however before ti used to take some time and stay a couple of seconds in each percentage. in the end all songs will fail to burn as soon as one or two fail all the others do at once. the red x error only says check the drive is connected and to check the cd is not damaged. non of theres erros could be so as i have used two different batches of CDs and the drive reads CDs and can clone CDs with nero still.
when trying to burn with nero the only error which comes up states that the burn failed. the log is very lengthy however. if i go to device manager the drivers are upto date. this is a very strange problem as nero is able to copy original CDs but however no files from hard drive can be written to a CD as an audio CD for some reason.
I really like the windows Sidebar in Vista Premium, but something has happened and I can't see or get it to load right now. Any guidance on how to recover from this issue
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm sure this problem is easy to solve. It's just that I can't see it.Because Vista has been causing me so many problems (blue crash screens, system restore doesn't work etc) I must restore to factory settings, wiping the c: disk and starting again. I have backed up all files on an external drive. The problem is that I can't see how to import all my mail accounts and mail history back into Windows Mail which will have been reloaded from new.

Win 7 compatible - have used this and deleted all 1200 entries it found. It makes a backup - been running for several hours and reboots with no probs. Also working fine so far on my Vista x64 and Win 7 x86 installs. After cleaning you need to shut the app. and reopen it for it to find it's backups. (Easy to find them by hand - it can compress them to.7z files, too ). Have used their regdefrag a lot - identical scans and results to the Auslogics and Glary versions- so use whichever defragger you already have. WARNING: not recommended to defrag registry across drives.
Currently using Vista 64 Home Premimum. Can anyone recommend a good registry cleaner? I tried PCTOOLS and it promptly wrecked my registry.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am using this program to clean up my registry and it seems to work fine except the errors keep coming back. I can do a scan, clean up all the errors and then shut down and start up and I have a new 20 registry error list and most or all of the errors relate to "bad path for the value" and its windows files that seem to be at fault. I don't understand why Microsoft operating system would create registry errors on a startup, before anything has been installed etc. is RegistryBooster misleading me or what. I am running win7 but it did the same thing on vista home premium so I think the question is valid for this group.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have created a movie using Windows Movie Maker. I am trying to burn this movie using Nero 6, so I can play the movie on a DVD player. I have tried various attempts and not getting anywhere. Need quick steps what I need to do to get the file to play on a DVD disk? In Nero, I am selecting Make Video CD option. I then Add the WMV File, which it analyzes and I select the DVD/RW...option (not Image Recorder). It then begins encoding but it then spits the DVD/RW disk out saying the compilation cannot be written to this type of disk.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a serious problem with my Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit OS (SP2 installed). It all started when my CD/DVD-Drive was not recognised anymore in Windows Explorer, Windows Device-Manager and even BIOS. This problem was caused by Audiograbber Software Installation & Use.
It is a known bug in Vista. Microsoft has set up an automatic "Fix-this" utility. Or can choose to manually fix the problem. This includes deleting some Registry Entries (UpperFilter and LowerFilter), which are responsible for Disc-Drive control in Vista. As the automatic fix did not work for me I decided to manually delete Upperfilter and Lowerfilter Registry Entries (without making a backup prior). I screwed it all up! The consequence: Vista-Startup got stuck in bluescreen/restart loop..............
When i start to burn dvd it got stuck on 1% and says power calibration error i can burn cds but not dvds before vista i got xp and worked fine but now cant burn dvds.

I have 4 GB of RAM installed, but I now see only 3 GB--and when I try to activate ReadyBoost, there is an error message telling me there is already a cache on another device in the system. Because of the sudden disappearance of 1 GB of memory, I suspect it has somehow been allocated to disk cach. How do I go about recovering that 1 GB and activating ReadyBoost.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've read a lot about problems installing Nero 8 in Windows Vista. I've recently purchased this software and would like to be certain that it will install with no problems. Some people say to disable User Account Control before installing it, as well as disabling the firewall and Windows Defender. Can anyone tell me what should be done before running the installation of Nero?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI had three MS Word 2007 docx files on my hard drive. I deleted them and emptied the trash. I immediately used some File Recovery programs to try to recover them. The programs were unable to find them. That seems very strange to me. Is it possibly because they are docx files? This is a relatively new file type by Microsoft, right? I am using MS Word with Vista Home Premium.
I should probably add that the programs cannot find files with the names of the files I deleted. Are the names changed when they are deleted and the Recycle Bin emptied? I have heard that files are not wiped clean from your drive. Only the directories are changes, but the data is still there until it is written over..................
I just upgraded my system's motherboard, chip, and ram and ran into a big problem. When I booted up for the first time, Vista started to boot up then reset. When I ran recovery, it told me some drivers were corrupted (probably the old hardware) . I ran the motherboard disk and installed the new drivers and to make a long story short, it didn't work. Add that to the fact that I can't find my serial number sticker and I'm screwed. Is there a way to find my serial using the Dos prompt or can windows pull my serial off my hard drive if I reinstall? Please help, the copy of Vista is only 4 months old and I was waiting to put the sticker on when I got the new case + Motherboard setup
