Is this true behaviour of Vista that if one user got infected with malware/virus it don't propagate on the rest of the users? I already fixed two vista computer with the same behaviour, the other users are not infected.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI turned on my computer the other day and an automatic download started to update my Verizon Internet Security Suiter (FIOS). I started a scan of my computer with the update. The new Security Suite update supposedly found 29,000+ infected files with a virus named Trojan-Downloader.Win32.VB.dck? The weird thing is - When I look for the files that are supposedly infected - or the folder that these files supposedly exist in I can't find it. The virus appears to have created a folder named " ' " on my hard drive - but when I look for this folder I can't find it. Even if I view hidden folders. My computer doesn't appear to be running strangly like it is infected. But the virus scan says it is.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI believe my computer got infected with a virus. Windows Defender detected "TrojanDwonlaoder:Win32/Bredolab.AA" and "Trojan:Win32/Hiloti.gen!D". It claims to have successfully removed these. I restart my computer. When I log on, I get Data Execution Protection notifications about Rundl32 and the like. I also notice that "flvencoder.exe" is running and consuming 30% CPU. I did install this program (Gmax FLV encoder) and perhaps it contained a virus (though the program worked). I also don't recall that it should have started upon logging on. None of this really matters, I don't think. I did a System Restore to a point before I installed Gmax FLV encoder (3 days prior). The restore completes successfully. Upon logging into my account, I get see the "Preparing Desktop" message and know that this is not good news. My user profile was not loaded. All of the data is there though. What I first tried to do was logging into Safe Mode, and setting the reg. keys such that my old profile is loaded instead of a temporary one...................................

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a new Dell computer running Vista Home Premium. My Brother printer prints fine when hooked up via USB. But won't print wirelessly through my router (Airport Express). The computer recognizes the printer wirelessly and has it as "ready." When I send something to print, it starts printing the first few lines and then just stops and won't print the rest. If I try again, nothing happens at all. I have to uninstall and reinstall the printer to get it to do anything. And even then, it won't print more than the first few lines of the document. Had no problems printing wirelessly with this printer and router on my old Dell that ran XP.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI calculated that to migrate to Vista or Windows 7 will cost close to =A32000. not including my time - It will take around 100 hours. This is because many of my existing software / tools / utilities does not work on Vista and the vendors expect me to buy a new license because it is a "new product" even though it does exactly what it did before - just on a different OS. Even the products that do work have problems and glitches that have to be worked around. All this takes time MY VALUABLE time. In other words I am suffering because Microsoft want money. In the past some versions of windows were worth migrating to Windows 2000 and Windows XP were great
But most of the improvements to Vista / Windows 7 are mostly transparent to normal users - even monster power users like me. I believe Microsoft have a serious attitude problem. just wait until they take full advantage of TPM to screw even more money out of us. If I am wrong please point out a real tangible benefit that Vista or Windows 7 brings to a large percentage of users or to me. I also I can no longer buy a laptop because they only come with Vista GPU drivers (some come with buggy unsupported XP GPU drivers - great)

I tells you falsely that your system is infected and then try's to coerce you into buying the program by continuous pop-ups.I've done a bit of research on the net on the other machine and found several sites which claim they can remove it, but as they're all .exe files I have no way of knowing if they're genuine or if they're a trick which will infect the other machine.

Now every time I log on to Windows Vista a warning dialog appears informing that the file wasn't found. I restore the system to a previous point, but nothing happened. What does this file do? Ive been searching everywhere for answers i have vista home premium with windows live care anti virus in perfect condition and it detected something trying to connect to the internet. This monster devil thing icon beside it told me right away...trouble and also the random numbers...By looking in the settings of my anti virus i found that i blocked 4 of them so far ive scanned with my anti virus 2 times and 3 times with spybot search and destroy AND ran a ccleaner.It's still there...I just want to get rid of this once and for all but what in God's name is it!

That didn't work so I backed up my data and did a complete reinstall. Upon startup, I performed an AVG scan and it came up with the same unremovable trojans I had before reinstallation.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI got my laptop from my school, and it's Windows Vista Business. After 4 months using my laptop and using internet explorer, IE started to mess up! Everytime i opened my homepage: Google, it will redirect to a dating site. And every sort of pop ups appeared... the pop up blocker were turned on, homepage was set to google.co.uk, security setting was at the highest, blocked all cookies, and all sort of things i did. Also, it makes my startup , and performance become 6X time slower than usual. After doing some searching on google, i found this tutorial site, there's a tutorial that exactly i have, it says that my User Account/profile is infected or something, it says to delete the account that's infected. I backed up all my files, and created a new admin account, and deleted that "infected" account.
It really worked, IE was fine, performance and such. But that was just temporarily, after 2 days, All the pop ups and stuff come back. So, i deleted the admin account i'am using, BUT I FORGOT TO MAKE ANOTHER ADMIN ACCOUNT!! And i'am still using a guest account. I can't install, create a user account, use windows update, and all the admin Privileges. There is one Administrator account, but i don't know the password. Oh the laptops is Toshiba, and i think the admin account is created by toshiba. Is there another way of retrieving, or whatever method to be an admin for my laptop again WITHOUT reinstalling my Windows Vista.

I've got an Sony VGN-BX197XP laptop that I've upgraded to Windows Vista Ultimate. Since then I've encountered some strange display-related issues:
1) I could only boot into Aero about 50% of the time. The rest of the time I forced onto the Standard theme with no Aero option. Since installing Vista SP1 I can't get Aero at all.
2) When not running in Aero mode I can't get the Windows Media Player to play video files, nor get a Perfomance Index.
3) If I plug in an external monitor I can't get a picture on the laptop monitor but I *do* get a picture on the external monitor and it runs Aero 100% of the time. It will also play video files and give me a performance index.
after downloading spybot s&d i ran it with brilliant results, it cleared my laptop apart from two entries (win32.fraudload.edt)it said after a restart it should clear these,but said after being restarted it couldn't due to these files being still in use(eg memory),they don't seem to be affecting my laptop but what do i know,i mean does anyone know what they are,what are they doing, and how to get rid of them,i'm on windows vista basic ultimate 64, after a restart it takes about two hours to try and get rid of them but to no avail and i've tried about six times.

Note, that I had AVG running and updated, and Lavasoft Ad Aware running and updated. They just cannot detect it. Windows defender did. But still I cannot get rid of it. I downloaded Spybot and it can detect it and clean it, but apparently not completely and I am back to same situation. IExplore is redirected to shopping sites (if not porn...). I searched the forums for solutions, but there is nothing specific for Vista (eg Smithfraud does not work). Also i tried to follow manual removal instructions, but I could not find the mentioned files. Yet the computer is infected. Any procedure for specific for Vista?

I can't get the whole information from that folder because it won't allow me to check from Avast. I also used two malware scanners. They found nothing about those two malware files. While visiting a site (i dont remember what) norton detected a virus (again i dont remember what) norton then crashed on me and would not run at all even after following the "fixes" it suggested. Ive always used AVG free on my PC's so i uninstalled Norton and after a few attempts finally managed to find and install AVG.I ran AVG which had a few hits but all were successfully removed. After that i also tried to install Spybot however it will not fully install, i get to the final page for installation, click install and then I get a error which reads " Error Sending Request The server name or address could not be resolved"
I know I have some form of virus/ spyware or somethimg on my PC as my browser frequently directs to Myspace (which i dont use) on the first click on a link, but when i go back to my search and click the same link again it will generally take me to where i need to go- unless it is a virus/spyware/malware removal page (in which case the link is always broken) My browser has also been opening up webpages that generally start with ad. eg ad.reduxmedia.com At the request of a different forum i down loaded hijack this so i could get a log of my pc however the program wont run.
