Jul 16, 2009I scanned today and found one malware/virus thing in my Registry Folder (it was called Hijack.*something, I forget*. I went into the Quarantine tab and deleted it. My computer's running fine, but did that delete the infected registry file? Does this create issues, and if so can I restore it?

Antispyware Program Search & Destroy
Sep 2, 2008I have installed the following spyware programs on my Vista computer: Antispyware (antispyware.com) and Spybot Search & Destroy. When I used Spybot program to scan my computer...it listed Antispyware as "spyware"...Why??? Has anyone used any of these spyware program?

Mar 28, 2010I'm new at this so sorry if this has already been posted and answered. Basically I was hacked by vista antispyware 2010 a couple of times and its really messed up my laptop. I got it to go away by using safe mode then the nrmal mode but I'm sure it's still there. It's made "open with" come up everytime i use a program and grayed out the default option. It won't let me use anything but internet explorer giving me the message "this file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the set associations control panel." I tried to attempt a system restore but "open with" comes up and i dont know which program to use for this.

Mar 23, 2008my problem is that when once i plug in my usb drive or any hardwares (eg: ipods), it starts fuctioning , but when i try to remove it from the computer, the message "safe to remove hardware from the computer" appears , but the device would not have been actually stopped working. so i am forced to remove my hardwares even when the devices are working by which i fear that my devices malfunction.

Mar 23, 2008I recenctly bought a new machine that has Vista Basic installed on it. I installed the latest drivers for my Netgear wireless adapter which are supposed to be Vista compatible. However, although I can get connected, I often have to mess around with the networking settings first and then the connection will only last around 15 minutes before the adapters led stops flashing. I then have to reboot to get a connection again. I tried the adapter back n my old XP machine and it is fine. As soon as the XP machine boots, the led indicator starts flashing and it doesn't stop until you shut down. With the Vista machine, the adapter often doesn't start flashing until you actually connect and then it will just stop after a short while. I've been messing around with this for weeks now and got nowhere. I would have suspected the adapter drivers, but it seems as though there are a lot of other people with the same problem on different adapters.

Feb 6, 2009For me, a Synchronize All often disconnects from the internet after checking my only email server, but before checking any of my newsgroups servers. I found the Accounts screen for my email account; nothing is entered there. All the email and newsgroups accounts have a checkmark before Include this account when checking for new messages.
However, when doing a Synchronize All, I sometimes but not always get an error message after the check of the email server, but before the check of any of the newsgroups servers, saying there is no longer any connection to the internet and asking if I want to try the connection again. When I tell it I do, the connection is usually restored within a few seconds.

Feb 14, 2007Windows Vista includes a great little utility that allows users to finally make soft and hard file system links in the file system. This can be very useful from a software compatibility standpoint as well as a great way to organize your computer. Unlike a shortcut, a link is at the file system level and can be used to create an alias for a file or folder that is in a different location. For example, you can create a hard link (Directory junction) called c:win that points to c:windowssystem32. After the link is created, you can open up command prompt or explorer and browse to c:win and you will see the contents of c:windowssystem32. This is not a new technology, it has actually been a core Linux and Unix feature for as far as I can remember but it is nice to finally have it in Windows Vista....

Apr 14, 2009Ive been searching everywhere for answers i have vista home premium with windows live care anti virus in perfect condition and it detected something trying to connect to the internet. This monster devil thing icon beside it told me right away...trouble and also the random numbers...By looking in the settings of my anti virus i found that i blocked 4 of them so far ive scanned with my anti virus 2 times and 3 times with spybot search and destroy AND ran a ccleaner.It's still there...I just want to get rid of this once and for all but what in God's name is it!

Oct 25, 2009after downloading spybot s&d i ran it with brilliant results, it cleared my laptop apart from two entries (win32.fraudload.edt)it said after a restart it should clear these,but said after being restarted it couldn't due to these files being still in use(eg memory),they don't seem to be affecting my laptop but what do i know,i mean does anyone know what they are,what are they doing, and how to get rid of them,i'm on windows vista basic ultimate 64, after a restart it takes about two hours to try and get rid of them but to no avail and i've tried about six times.

Dec 4, 2008I got Zlob malware!! From Facebook, a trusted friend of mine (of course it was a fake message). SIGH. Note, that I had AVG running and updated, and Lavasoft Ad Aware running and updated. They just cannot detect it. Windows defender did. But still I cannot get rid of it. I downloaded Spybot and it can detect it and clean it, but apparently not completely and I am back to same situation. IExplore is redirected to shopping sites (if not porn...). Also i tried to follow manual removal instructions, but I could not find the mentioned files. Yet the computer is infected. Any procedure for specific for Vista?

Jun 26, 2009last week i brought a new laptop, it came with the norton antivirus free trial. While visiting a site (i dont remember what) norton detected a virus (again i dont remember what) norton then crashed on me and would not run at all even after following the "fixes" it suggested. Ive always used AVG free on my PC's so i uninstalled Norton and after a few attempts finally managed to find and install AVG.I ran AVG which had a few hits but all were successfully removed. After that i also tried to install Spybot however it will not fully install, i get to the final page for installation, click install and then I get a error which reads " Error Sending Request The server name or address could not be resolved"
I know I have some form of virus/ spyware or somethimg on my PC as my browser frequently directs to Myspace (which i dont use) on the first click on a link, but when i go back to my search and click the same link again it will generally take me to where i need to go- unless it is a virus/spyware/malware removal page (in which case the link is always broken) My browser has also been opening up webpages that generally start with ad. eg ad.reduxmedia.com At the request of a different forum i down loaded hijack this so i could get a log of my pc however the program wont run. So i have come here wher hopefully all advice will be specially tailored to a vista PC.
