Usb Drive Not Disconnecting From The Computer
Mar 23, 2008my problem is that when once i plug in my usb drive or any hardwares (eg: ipods), it starts fuctioning , but when i try to remove it from the computer, the message "safe to remove hardware from the computer" appears , but the device would not have been actually stopped working. so i am forced to remove my hardwares even when the devices are working by which i fear that my devices malfunction.

Mar 23, 2008I recenctly bought a new machine that has Vista Basic installed on it. I installed the latest drivers for my Netgear wireless adapter which are supposed to be Vista compatible. However, although I can get connected, I often have to mess around with the networking settings first and then the connection will only last around 15 minutes before the adapters led stops flashing. I then have to reboot to get a connection again. I tried the adapter back n my old XP machine and it is fine. As soon as the XP machine boots, the led indicator starts flashing and it doesn't stop until you shut down. With the Vista machine, the adapter often doesn't start flashing until you actually connect and then it will just stop after a short while. I've been messing around with this for weeks now and got nowhere. I would have suspected the adapter drivers, but it seems as though there are a lot of other people with the same problem on different adapters.

Mar 23, 2008I got 3 vista home basic stations (a,b,c) with 1 of them (a) as a server. Everything works fine for station b. For station c, I did the same for mapping the drive as in station b. But whenever I restart the station, the map network drive is shown as disconnected.

Feb 6, 2009For me, a Synchronize All often disconnects from the internet after checking my only email server, but before checking any of my newsgroups servers. I found the Accounts screen for my email account; nothing is entered there. All the email and newsgroups accounts have a checkmark before Include this account when checking for new messages.
However, when doing a Synchronize All, I sometimes but not always get an error message after the check of the email server, but before the check of any of the newsgroups servers, saying there is no longer any connection to the internet and asking if I want to try the connection again. When I tell it I do, the connection is usually restored within a few seconds.
DEP Kept Stopping GAME
Jun 30, 2009I had a game I wanted ot make work but DEP kept stopping it so I turned off DEP by using the command prompt. bcdedit.exe/set {current] nx AlwaysOff and it worked. I then restarted Vista and all I get is a quick flash of a blue crseen and then two options, 1) Repair and 2) Start normally. I have restored to an earlier point, I have also tried safe mode, I pressed F8 and tried starting with last known working settings and also F8 then a repair option, opened a command prompt and tried reversing the command but it didn't seem to do anything.

Jan 20, 2009I have been unable to load and use itunes because of a DEP message that pops up on screen shutting down the program.
I have done the following:
*uninstalled the programs itunes and quicktime
*uninstalled the programs completely using Crogram files - the additional way of uninstalling.
* reinstalled/uninstalled both programs about 4 times
* reinstalled quicktime as a stand alone program
* used Windows installer clean up
I can't turn DEP off by selecting itunes and putting into the marked exception box because an error message tells me that itunes MUST operate with DEP. It will not drag it into the box.
Security Stopping Some Files?

May 20, 2008I have the problem that when I restored my computer to an earlier time I had uninstalled Threatfire but it is still there and I can't get rid of it now. It is stopping me from downloading other programs! When I try to delete the folder in programs it tells me that I can't as I do not have the rights to do it even though I am the administrator and sole user of the computer. I have used CCleaner to try to remove it but it does not work either. I have tried in safe mode also.

Jun 18, 2008At some point I have pressed the 'receive updates for other products' on the Windows Update panel. I now have half a dozen updates for Office 2007 waiting for installation. I do not have Office 2007 - I do have Office 2000 and Works, so I don't see any point in downloading and installing these updates.I have tried hiding the updates, but because they are 'important' they reappear. Is there any way of deselecting the'other products' option so I go back to only checking for Windows updates?

Apr 28, 2008I've been reading the Threads here and on other Forums with regards to the IE issue of it stopping working on Vista. I've tried all the suggestions I have found to date (including uninstalling OneNote, repairing registry issues etc etc) and I still can't get the damn thing to work. Every time it loads I get the message saying Internet Explorer has stopped working. I normally use Firefox, but have to be able to test websites in IE so must get it working.

May 9, 2008I had a problem with my Microsoft Vista print spooler (spoolsv.exe) stopping on Data Execution Prevention (DEP) violations from the time I installed my HP and Lexmark printers. This has been only an irritation to date as I have set the spooler to always restart 1 minute after failure. However lately I am having more programs stop on DEP violation. The Microsoft Vista??? WMI Provider Host??? has stopped several times on DEP. I do not know what the ???Vista WMI Provider Host??? does. I did not see any adverse results with the Microsoft Vista??? WMI Provider Host??? stopped. So far my DEP violations have been random and inconsistent. The print spooler stops on DEP even when both printers are off. I have performed hardware checks as recommended by Dell and the computer hardware tested OK.

Mar 28, 2009I've been getting increasingly annoyed with my mouse as of late. I've always noticed that while I've been in World of Warcraft, the mouse just doesn't seem precise. You can move the mouse, and sometimes it stops prematurely, sometimes it goes past where you want it to go, you move right and it moves up a bit, it really just isn't seeming that great.
I'm using a Logitech MX400. I've tried both with, and without the Logitech Drivers / Software. I've enabled, and disabled precision on the mouse, and have also tweaked the sensitivity. Something just doesn't seem right. I'm also using a regular mouse pad that has absolutely no reflective capabilites on it... so I'm really at a loss.

Nov 29, 2008I start vista up and sometimes i cant select anything on start menu/taskbars altho i can interact with anything on the desktop. A temp fix seems to be if i ctrl+alt+delete then esc but it happens again soon after.
Also when i am in iexplorer/firefox the mouse starts auto scrolling when i move it quickly, when this happens the mouse wont respond to anything outside the main window of explorer. If i then open my Bookmarks or run a mouse over a link they all open in new windows.

So im looking for a new mouse, as i were looking around i saw a Microsoft mouse which offered 1000 PPI DCS (Doncaster) Ltd. Online Store and a SAITEK mouse which offers 3200 DPI DCS (Doncaster) Ltd. Online Store But i have no idea whether or not 1000 PPI is better then 3200 DPI. I did some Google searching and didnt find anything, so what is ppi? Does it even exist? Is it better? And Which mouse is better?

Apr 16, 2008I am having a problem with Vista. Last time I shut my computer down, my mouse worked fine. Now it is gone. I normally use a regular Dell USB mouse. I tried a PS2 mouse that that isn't recognized at all. So, I plugged the USB mouse back in. The computer recognized that I plugged something but claimed it couldn't find a driver for it. I read that Windows Update KB938371 but I am unable to uninstall it and a system restore doesn't fix the problem.
As an additional note to this problem: for the past couple of days ANY USB or firewire drive that I plug in (even ones that I have used before) will not work. As with the mouse, the computer recognizes that I plugged something in but it can't find a driver for it. Anybody have a solution for this other than reinstalling Vista? Having no mouse and no connection to a external hard drive is quite an inconvenience. Even if I DID want to back my stuff up and reformat my computer, I don't dare do that because I have nothing to back it up on besides a bunch of DVD's.
Mouse Lag In Games But Not Xp
Jan 23, 2009i have mouse lag problem but ONLY when i'm playing games and ONLY when i'm using Windows Vista or Windows 7.
Under windows xp i have no mouse lag at all :
Now i have installed windows xp sp3, vista ultimate x64 and seven, all the 3 OS with latest driver for mouse and VGA.
My mouse is a logitech G5, my video card ati 4850 and my motherboard abit ip35.
Mouse Speed
Oct 3, 2009Ever since installing Vista I seem to have lost control of the mouse speed. Even changing it in Vista does not fix it. The double click is so fast, that 95% of the time is performs a double click when I did not want it to. This is SO damn annoying. It is an older Microsoft mouse with the light and wheel and buttons on the side for going back and forth in Explorer and on the Internet. I think it was called Intellipoint, or something like that. Anyhow, does anyone know if this is a bug?

Sep 22, 2008Like the title says, my PS/2 mouse refuses to work under Vista Home Premium 32bit. The same mouse works fine under Windows 2000 and Windows XP, but under Vista the mouse gets detected but I get the "Code 10", "This device cannot start." in the device manager.
I checked and there are no resource conflicts, or any other outstanding driver or hardware issues in the system. Also, the proper IRQ is assigned and everything looks fine, except for the fact that it does NOT work and I get the Code 10 code.
Like I said, the mouse works fine in Windows 2000/XP. Right now I'm using a spare wireless USB mouse under Vista until I get this figured out. There are no special drivers or software for this mouse since it's just a simple PS/2 mouse.
