Get the latest definitions - Microsoft Malware Protection Center Hopefully this site hasnt been hijacked, but as of friday evening, i have not found one update to this MS program. Definition Change Log is the same one that i downloaded on Friday the 25th of Sept. i.e., Ver. 1.67.62.0. Would anyone know if the site is down, or has MY listing for this site been hijacked.

Upon accessing Windows Security Center, I see both Virus Protection and Spyware are both turned Off. Upon accessing Security Provider - Symantec, I see only Norton Internet Security listed. What do we need to do for the Windows Security Center to acknowledge Norton 360 installed and working well?

Media Center recognizes copy protection on recorded TV. You can record and play a TV movie in Media center, but you cannot burn a DVD copy. You also cannot open, edit and save Media Center recorded movies in Movie Maker. Movie Maker only imports the commercials before the movie starts then stops. Shows like local news programs are fine, but who wants to save those? Media Center's DVR-MS files of movies are too large to copy to a data DVD to save and remove. (I haven’t looked at lowering the recording quality yet.). I’d like to trim the ends off of DVR movie recordings and edit out commercials. I don’t intend to distribute these to anybody, but I would like to make a DVD that I could watch on any player in my house, not just the Media Center computer where the movie was recorded. In the days of VHS taping we could do this. There must be a way to do it now. It is probably even legal under fair use or if not, it should be. I hope Microsoft reconsiders their copy protection scheme.

View 9 Replies View Relatedafter downloading spybot s&d i ran it with brilliant results, it cleared my laptop apart from two entries (win32.fraudload.edt)it said after a restart it should clear these,but said after being restarted it couldn't due to these files being still in use(eg memory),they don't seem to be affecting my laptop but what do i know,i mean does anyone know what they are,what are they doing, and how to get rid of them,i'm on windows vista basic ultimate 64, after a restart it takes about two hours to try and get rid of them but to no avail and i've tried about six times.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI got Zlob malware!! From Facebook, a trusted friend of mine (of course it was a fake message). SIGH. Note, that I had AVG running and updated, and Lavasoft Ad Aware running and updated. They just cannot detect it. Windows defender did. But still I cannot get rid of it. I downloaded Spybot and it can detect it and clean it, but apparently not completely and I am back to same situation. IExplore is redirected to shopping sites (if not porn...). I searched the forums for solutions, but there is nothing specific for Vista (eg Smithfraud does not work). Also i tried to follow manual removal instructions, but I could not find the mentioned files. Yet the computer is infected. Any procedure for specific for Vista?

I can't get the whole information from that folder because it won't allow me to check from Avast. I also used two malware scanners. They found nothing about those two malware files. last week i brought a new laptop, it came with the norton antivirus free trial. While visiting a site (i dont remember what) norton detected a virus (again i dont remember what) norton then crashed on me and would not run at all even after following the "fixes" it suggested. Ive always used AVG free on my PC's so i uninstalled Norton and after a few attempts finally managed to find and install AVG.I ran AVG which had a few hits but all were successfully removed. After that i also tried to install Spybot however it will not fully install, i get to the final page for installation, click install and then I get a error which reads " Error Sending Request The server name or address could not be resolved"
I know I have some form of virus/ spyware or somethimg on my PC as my browser frequently directs to Myspace (which i dont use) on the first click on a link, but when i go back to my search and click the same link again it will generally take me to where i need to go- unless it is a virus/spyware/malware removal page (in which case the link is always broken) My browser has also been opening up webpages that generally start with ad. eg ad.reduxmedia.com At the request of a different forum i down loaded hijack this so i could get a log of my pc however the program wont run. So i have come here wher hopefully all advice will be specially tailored to a vista PC. I have Kaspersky and it seems to be ok. But it is very weird and pretty hard to use. Im not sure if i want it anymore but i need to be 100% sure of another program before i uninstall the other one. I also wanted to know if it is possible to have 2 security protection on your computer at once. I would only want this because i would never want to have my computer being used without virus protection.

'm looking at Comodo Internet Security v3.3 only the firewall part and then the free Avast whic has caught everything for me in the past but on XP; now I'm using vista ultimate 32bit. I wanted to run it by here first to see if anyone has good/bad experience with the two programs running together.

I have this annoying windows firewall box that pops up about every 15 minutes or so and i am starting to get really annoyed. The attached picture shows everything. I had Avast! when it stared and that didnt catch anything in real-time if my full system scan. I also downloaded spybot and that didnot come up with anything in my full system scan. Now i have downloaded comodo and there is nothing that has come up so far. How should i go about this? how do i stop comodo from haveing a popup box everytime i run something(it feels like every time i click the mouse for a program i have to approve about 5 other things with comodo before i can actually get to the program or task i am doing.)

View 5 Replies View RelatedI was told that I should scan the file wklnhst.dat (properties say its a DAT file, 11KB) in order to get rid of it. It was in APPDATA/ROAMING - not in a folder- just on it's own, the last item there. This after having my machine repaired of all kinds of malware. But this particular item was never mentioned by the original person cleaning the machine. Not sure if they saw it.
I scanned with with a-squared, Superanti-Spyware and Malwarebytes (all are updated and I have the real time version of a-squared which is always running. None of them report it as malware/nothing is being detected when I scan it (or scan the whole C drive). Do I really need to remove this? I know dates can be falsified but it says it was created and then accessed on the same date around when I bought it and started using it (the computer). Then it was "updated" this year in June (not by me). If I should remove it but the scanners aren't picking anything up can I just delete it or is that too dangerous?
About two years ago I bought a Vista HP laptop. Recently when I went on vacation with my children the snow storm holed us up in the hotel with nothing to do. So they used my laptop alot. After this, my laptop did not work properly. About 1 minute after I turn it on it will freeze completely. After about ten minutes it will unfreeze but proceed to execute all of the clicks I made during the time it was frozen. I am at about an intermediate stage when it comes to computers. I have already posted the above in the General Discussions forum and they told me to come to you guys. My old firewall did not seem to be doing the job to I downloaded a trial of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and started the scan it has been scanning for about 5 hrs. and has come up with 1 infected object. I am pretty sure that is the root of my problem but my computer won't unfreeze long enough for me to take care of it.

It is trojan MYtob.mailer and Zlob.z. Is this for real? It has the microsoft logo, and looks official, but I'm always a bit skeptical of these things..I was afraid to click on install, not knowing what it was. View 9 Replies View RelatedI turned my computer off the night before but then when i turned it on the next morning my Avast On Access Protection won't start up.. and also my wireless network connection won't connect. only a few programs start up. now i figured a way to fix this but not permanently.
i would have to log into another Administrator account then do a system restore on with that account because on the regular Administrator account it wouldn't open and everything seems to work fine, Shuts down then restores and files and settings then restarts and from there i am able to log into the first Administrator account and everything starts up fine but then when i shut the computer down and start it back up the problem just happens again.
What i also noticed is that when i click shut down from the start menu that is when everything seems to load up like normal but the system is already about to shut down so it just closes again. now this only happens in XP and my vista partition is perfectly fine but i figured i'd post this problem in here
