I keep getting 42 messages trying to come through and they get stuck on message 28. I then get a message saying 'client connected' and I can never retrieve the other messages. I then cannot delete the first 27 messages. Do I have a virus or something or what is happening?
View 5 RepliesI'm using Windows Mail for my emails. When I exit the program, all the messages in the Delete Folder are permanently deleted. Under earlier versions you had the option of keeping messages in the delete folder when existing. I can't find that option in the current version of Windows Mail.

The error message states that there is a problem with memory or the disk being full. My computer is fairly new so I can't imagine that I have even come close to filling my memory.

I could simply click on the message and block that sender. Now, I cannot even locate the command to block senders for newsgroups. I can block senders for email by manually entering the address, but that is not the same thing as what I am trying to describe. Some newsgroups are being hit with incredible numbers of junk messages, and I would like to be able to clear the messages (as I could when I used Win XP and earlier versions of IE). I am using Vista Home Premium and IE7.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI restored my vista OS using a system image utility provided by Alienware. It created a backup folder on the c drive with all the old files in it, including user profiles. I changed the owner of all files and folders back to my account and tried to delete it, but got the UAC messages that I need to allow administrator rights to do so. After clicking yes, I got a message that permission was denied with the only options of "Try Again" or "Cancel". After making visible all hidden files and folders, I was able to drill down to the one file I could not delete. I've used the "take ownership" steps in Vista explorer properties, and also the "takeown" dos commands, which report success that the Administrators group or my account which belongs to the administrators group, is the owner of the file, and that I have full control of it. Even so, I cannot delete this file. In DOS, I get access denied. In Explorer, I get the "you need permission to perform this action" message, with "try again" or "cancel", and it shows that my account (or administrators group, doing it that way) is the owner. It's just this one file. I was able to delete all other files and folders around this file, but just not this one.
I wonder if the folder path is so long or so nested that UAC fails to figure it out? It was in users\appdata
oamingetc. Or is the file corrupt? The file is a tempory file created by one of those biometric devices when logged on with your fingerprint, and is supposed to disappear when you log off, but it seems to have remained there because of a hard boot. Is there a utility I can use that can nuke this one lone file?
I just went into my Windows mail to verify that something was sent and ALL my sent messages are gone. Does anyone know what would have caused this or how to get them back?

When I print e-mail messages, the print of the message is quite small, however, the header (From, To, Sent, and Subject) prints normally. How can I change this so that my printer prints what is displayed By the way, the printer prints the appropiate size in Microsoft Word.

The remain on the ATT Yahoo server and when I try to forward the message to myself, they disappear again. The messages do not appear in the deleted items folder or in my spam folder. This is approx the 3rd or 4th time that it happened and I am getting concerned about the security of my account. I am so embarrassed to all my contacts because they are receiving e-mails which are actually not from me. As this e-mail I use is the enterprise e-mail, I need it to work all the time I click in "send/recieve messages" and don't need it to work "when it decides to" and so, most of the times, I can't use the Windows Mail, but the site where I registered my e-mail in, which doesn't have all the resources the Windows Mail does. Let it be known that if you purchase the above OS, you will not be able to transfer any of your e-mail messages or contacts from your old 32 bit system to the new 64 bit system. Even if you attempt to download Outlook Express, it is 32 bit and will not download and instal, therefore, you can't imnport your Outlook files into Outlook Express to convert their file extension to something compatible with Windows Mail, which is the new e-mail program.
OH, before I forget, I want to thank Microsoft for the laser/wireless mouse and keyboard configuration. My Device Manager does not recognize the keyboard as a wireless keyboard, instead it ;ists it as a "HID", (Human Input Device", or dome crap like that, and my mouse and keyboard continually freeze.
I recently moved and after setting up my computer, I am suddenly no longer able to send messages through windows mail. i haven't had problems with it before and find it odd that all of a sudden it is sending me an error message. I've used the same method in viewing them for quite some time now, but using the same method after getting this new laptop with vista installed isn't showing me the files. Recently when logging on to my e-mail account I lost all my saved messages, the only one left were in the inbox. Now every time I log on Windows Mail generates a "Recovered Messages" folder filled with lots of empty folders and no messages.

Sometime it recovers but otherwise I need to kill it. I can open the attachment by clicking on the paper clip etc and everything seems fine so I don't think it's a security thing.

View 5 Replies View RelatedAm sending messages that are not being received - it is not every message, and not to the same person (and no message that it could not be delivered!). I normally find out when I have not received an cknowledgement, or a reply, and I ring to find out why.
Second problem is that not all messages appear in the "sent" folder. Seems to be a random problem - not address related (ie messages sent to the same organisation - some appear in the sent folder, some do not).
Am using Vista Home Premium, with Avast.
All "Sent" mail seems to have disappeared as of March 17. where the Sent folder is located to determine what may have happened. I had kept all Sent emails from January 7, and today only emails from March 17 are visible in the Vista Mail.
I do have access to my Sent mail via my IMAP account, but there seems to be a glitch in the Vista Mail program:
or did I do something to delete all my sent mail? I do not recall deleting these emails, and I would not consciously have done so as I use Sent mail for reference? Can the Sent Mail be retrieved?
After you delete mail from windows mail and then you delete the deleted mail. where does it go? In outlook express we had to do a "search" for *DBX to find those files and finally delete them from the harddrive...what do I look for now to delete all the deleted files?

It wont empty on closing, it wont empty if I click on empty deleted folder, and it wont empty by using select all and delete. It worked fine until about a week ago and now it is full to bursting and I cant even get it to delete one at a time. (It gives me an error message : "an unknown error was encountered")
