View 6 Replies View RelatedI have been using my Windows Mail for a little while now and am pretty much there in terms of understanding it. However, at work I use Outlook Express and there are a few things that I like from it that I am unsure whether Windows Mail has or if I am just not finding them. The main thing is:
I colour code messages (categorise them) by descriptions I have altered them to, for example, if I select pink, this is known as 'awaiting others actions' and if I select blue this is 'Needs further attention by me' or purple meaning 'completed'. Does Windows Mail have this option anywhere at all so that I can colour my inbox messages until I have dealt with them all fully. I would be greatful for any advice about this.
Every time I install a new program, the folder in the start menu of this new program is yellow, and I have to launch it for it to go back to normal...Does anyone have a tip or something that could avoid that ?

View 6 Replies View RelatedWhenever I try to access my e-mail(windows mail), I get a window which tells me that there is no copnnection available to the internet. I am then asked if I want to go online, in which case I have to click the button that says try again. This also happened with Internet Explorer, but Talktalk managed to fix that by removing a tick in the box for working offline. They are unable to fix the email error. I would like to be able to go directly to the email inbox whenever I start the computer. What do I have to do?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have comcast as my email provider. Just today I activated Windows Mail and now all my email from Comcast is coming into Windows Mail, which is what I wanted, but now my Comcast email is empty. So I guess all my email is just being re-directed. My question is when I am not at my computer but on a public computer, how can I access my email? I normally just log onto Comcast.net and go to my email but now none of my mail is in there? Did I do something wrong during set-up? Can I fix this? Or is this just the way it is.

View 8 Replies View RelatedInstalled Vista Ultimate 64 bit over the weekend, dual booting with my XP Pro install, so far I am finding myself liking it more and more. I have set up newsgroups in windows mail, and email access. I really like some of the features of windows mail versus the older Outlook Express, especially the calendar feature, and the spellcheck included. I use Outlook 2002 ( from Office XP ) on my XP Pro install, mainly for the calendar feature, so was pleased to see this included in windows mail. Not going to try to install Office XP on my Vista, as I understand there would be issues with that. I think what I have with Windows Mail though, will serve me ok.
I see where another program, Windows Live Mail is available as well. I checked on the link I found, and really did not see a lot about it. What is the general consensus here, is the Windows Live Mail program much better than the included windows mail program? I don't really understand what the differences are here.
Error on startup. After a period of time. Having scoured several topics in relation to this issue, I am still none the wiser and like many pledging for some guidance, I thought it best to post here. Some quick Background Info;
I made this computer using my old Powersupply ( Jeantech 500W) and Harddrive. I had previously used the graphics card in my old setup and had no issues. This was XP, different motherboard, processor etc. I formatted the Harddrive and installed Windows 64bit and installed all the new parts. Drivers are all up to date except the motherboard. (Of which the CD couldn't be detected)
When I turn on my computer, at the login screen I receive small blocks of colour that do not match the screens intended picture. On the log in screen this is normally minimal, but on my main desktop this will nearly cover the screen intermitantly. Sounds bad? But it will either fix itself in time with the "Windows has recovered the driver Atiamtag" Or, I pop open the Chess program and on load up this clears the issue..........
Why does Win 7 want to fall back to a "basic" colour scheme? When I start to watch an AVI file in Win Media player it almost immediately pops a message to say that perfromance is slow.... running low on mem for Aero...suggest I go to basic display Why would it do that? I have Win 7, a damn good sys - with 6Gb of mem. I did read that it caused some incompatability with progs - but I using an AVI in MS media player... so surely that should be compatible? I have breakdown of how file was encoded if people interested - but lets keep simple for now... Why would MS media player make Win7 do that?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI send out a newsletter by email to a group of people, sometimes direct from WinMail sometimes via MS Word. I have not changed anything in my settings or set-up but just recently one of my contacts say they just get what appears to be a blank email from me with a 1kb attachment image001.gif. However, if they open my email and click Forward, when the new window opens to put the forward address in, the message I sent can be read, with all the formatting etc I used. They say they haven't changed anything in their setup.

Dragon NaturallySpeaking (DNS) is *30* *TIMES* more accurate than Windows Speech Recognition (WSR) on any use where unusual words are involved, such as medical usage. Why? - because the "scan documents" feature of WSR is broken, just plain does not work. On a 600 word medical dictation, I get 30 text mistakes when I use WSR; I get ZERO text mistakes using DNS. It takes a long time to find and correct those 30 text mistakes.
That is a poor 95% text accuracy, a person would be better off just typing everything in. The same document scanning feature in DNS works fine. If I did not use that feature, then DNS would have almost as high an error rate as WSR does. The same document scanning feature in "MacSpeech Dictate 1.5.8", a speech app that only runs on Macs, works fine also, no text errors at all on a 600 word medical dictation, thanks to its "scan documents" feature actually working........
My monitor is set at 1152 X 720 pixels. The default is 1440 x 900, but that makes everything so super tiny that I can't see text too well. Text size is set at default or standard. The Windows dialog boxes are all cut off so that at least one third of them cannot be seen. From using old Windows OS systems in the past, I can guess at what is unseen and just use the tab key to select "Ok, Cancel, and Apply".
But some boxes, for example, the "Sound Theme" dialog box has a whole section below of selecting sounds for events and I cannot see any of it.
Here's the clincher. Just to adjust my sound theme, I set my monitor to the microscopic 1440 x 900 setting and still cannot see the dialog boxes. The text size set on default.
What settings are these boxes viewable?
I should point out that my Sister and a couple of friends have
