I have had the frustrating experince of loosing a long carefully composed email when Windows Mail decides to close down !! This often happens as i am inserting Send detsils . I have a post already on this but is their any way i can retrieve the "lost "email as i guess it is still somewhere on my hard drive ? I have tried Restoration ( free software ) but no success
View 6 RepliesThis is the third time now my mail has had problems. I am at the moment attempting to get Microsoft help but that seems to be taking forever. 2 times previous to this I have logged into my Windows Mail and found that they have had to retrieve all my mail folders as they got "lost" somehow. Now I log in yesterday morning to check on some e-mails that I have saved in a folder titled "Job Searches" and all of the e-mails in there are there in title only but have no content. Another folder same thing basically except that every e-mail content is the same. I'm baffled.

I have tried turning off the retrieve when started and that does not
make the auto detect work either. This option worked when I initially

One works fine on both options. The other will not automatically retrieve emails every 5 minutes. It does retrieve when it is started or when manually receive emails is initiated. Every 5 minutes, I hear the tone that is set, but it will not retrieve the email.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have been trying for close to a month to figure out how to get Vista to display email addresses from the 'address book' or the contacts list, in a much more efficient manner. At the moment, when I go to create an email and click the 'To' button, every single email address entered into the contacts list is displayed.I liked the way outlook express had it set up, email addresses could be entered into sub-folders so that they were in a more logical list. (family/friends/business/etc...). Now when viewing a contacts list, the sub folder are shown... but, what I would really like to be able to do is click that To button, see the address sub folders, and select the recipient from that sub folder list.The windows help and support screen can't find the info I am looking for and many attempts at trying to get the same sort of recipient selection that outlook express gave has failed with what appears to a backward step taken by 'Windows Mail'.

Upon further investigation, I found out that I was at c:UsersTEMPdesktop. I attempted to put some files back on the desktop, and ran into other issues, so I did a Ctrl-Z to undo what I did. These files ended up in the recycle bin, with the c:UsersTEMPdesktop label, and any attempts to retrieve them result in an error message stating that this does not exist. I set up my hard drives to the RAID0 option in the BIOS. chose my HDD, allocated space, striped, everything. when time came to install windows and it searched for the driver, i put the proper driver in a USB drive. it recognizes it, sees it, and when i click ok, it starts installation but then stops with the message "windows could not retrieve information about the disks on this computer".
i just don't get it. i downloaded the driver on the manufacturer's website. i made sure it was for the 64bit vista os. i even downloaded all the different country specific drivers and tried each one of them. i basically tried every driver, even the 32bit version just to make sure. still the same message. everything's new and working properly so i don't think it's a hardware issue. both hard drives are the exact same brand, type, & capacity. they are both recognized in the BIOS.
Machine has an issue with the Security Center. Cannot launch most programs but can navigate the internet. Permissions problems prevent me from starting security center services. I know I can wipe the machine but there are some things I would like to retrieve... one being the Office 2007 PID.

Every time i delete and block the emails address i get another from another email address generated. Its obviously spyware, I have run AVG and spybot and it hasnt fixed the problem.
