I know I can get an external HD to retrieve my photos & files from the computer buit what about my Windows Mail? each time I start mail. It retrieves each time I start mail but never
auto retrieves email regardless of the time frequency that I have set.
I have tried turning off the retrieve when started and that does not
make the auto detect work either. This option worked when I initially
started mail but stopped working shortly there after.
When I open my windows mail it is only checking my first email, not the 2nd. When I go to webmail for the 2nd email address, the emails are there, but even if I leave them as unmarked, they don't appear in my windows mail. I do have the "include this account when receiving mail" checkbox ticked

One works fine on both options. The other will not automatically retrieve emails every 5 minutes. It does retrieve when it is started or when manually receive emails is initiated. Every 5 minutes, I hear the tone that is set, but it will not retrieve the email.

I am at the moment attempting to get Microsoft help but that seems to be taking forever. 2 times previous to this I have logged into my Windows Mail and found that they have had to retrieve all my mail folders as they got "lost" somehow. Now I log in yesterday morning to check on some e-mails that I have saved in a folder titled "Job Searches" and all of the e-mails in there are there in title only but have no content. Another folder same thing basically except that every e-mail content is the same. I'm baffled.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm trying RAID 0 for the first time and i'm having some problems. I set up my hard drives to the RAID0 option in the BIOS. chose my HDD, allocated space, striped, everything. when time came to install windows and it searched for the driver, i put the proper driver in a USB drive. it recognizes it, sees it, and when i click ok, it starts installation but then stops with the message "windows could not retrieve information about the disks on this computer".
i just don't get it. i downloaded the driver on the manufacturer's website. i made sure it was for the 64bit vista os. i even downloaded all the different country specific drivers and tried each one of them. i basically tried every driver, even the 32bit version just to make sure. still the same message. everything's new and working properly so i don't think it's a hardware issue. both hard drives are the exact same brand, type, & capacity. they are both recognized in the BIOS.
i also tried to change my default email to windows live, it doesn't work, comes up w/ some weird kind of mail that doesn't send messages (not sure if it's trying to use windows mail even tho it's set to windows live mail, or what). so, i'm trying to set up my windows live account (which is new, just set it up a couple of months ago), through windows mail. tried setting to pop3.live.com and smtp.live.com and when it goes to connect i keep getting this error message:

i really want my default e-mail server to be set up to something that works. and i do not want to go back to using my yahoo account.
I've been trying for a few days to set up a group mail list but keep getting
an individual error message back for each address on the list (5.1.1 - Bad
destination email address 'invalid domain "": no dot found') I have made
individual contacts of each person thati wish to send to (as despite what the
help file says about clicking the toolbar and choosing "group" all I ever
have available to me is the individual contacts. I then put all of these
contacts in one named directory in the contacts folder but this folder is not
available to me when I go to send a new EMail.
I am using Vista/ Windows Mail with no issues for a year or so and recently I can no longer send email. There is no error message but I looked into it a little closer after not getting replies from several email I had sent out. The email go into my out box and appear to leave as normal when sent. I have tried emptying my out box, checked all settings with my ISP, and read a lot of post with out seeing anything else to try.

I have gone into tools and "set as default" but it doesn't stay, so I went online to find an answer - I got some great help from an earlier post but when I went into Default programs - set program access and computer default - custom I find "use my current email program" but no tick boxes for enable access to this program.
I'm a bit stumped about where to go next. NB: I had to reset my computer back to factory settings in July as I lost sound following the service pack 2 download. I can't email photo's or send links for webpages. Also in the set default programs it has windows mail (news) as my default.
I have Vista and I find out Hotmail is not longer supported. That is just great! I have done the stuff to still use my hotmail account (I think). However, how do I set up this Windows Live mail account?? When I put in my email address as xxxxx@hotmail.com I get the error message that Hotmail is no longer supported.
