When trying to open a pdf-file I receive the message : The Adobe Acrobat/Reader that is running cannot be used to view pfd files on a web-browser. Adobe Acrobat/Reader version 8 or 9 is required. But I am running version 9.1.3 ....I tried repairing the Adobe but still no luck!

each time I start mail. It retrieves each time I start mail but never
auto retrieves email regardless of the time frequency that I have set.
I have tried turning off the retrieve when started and that does not
make the auto detect work either. This option worked when I initially
started mail but stopped working shortly there after.
I am running Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit, and yesterday, when I started my PC up, I was presented with a scaled down version of my desktop. Upon further investigation, I found out that I was at c:UsersTEMPdesktop. I attempted to put some files back on the desktop, and ran into other issues, so I did a Ctrl-Z to undo what I did. These files ended up in the recycle bin, with the c:UsersTEMPdesktop label, and any attempts to retrieve them result in an error message stating that this does not exist. I have gotten back to my original desktop, which is at c:UsersMedesktop by searching other internet sites about this disappearing desktop profile issue

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm trying RAID 0 for the first time and i'm having some problems. I set up my hard drives to the RAID0 option in the BIOS. chose my HDD, allocated space, striped, everything. when time came to install windows and it searched for the driver, i put the proper driver in a USB drive. it recognizes it, sees it, and when i click ok, it starts installation but then stops with the message "windows could not retrieve information about the disks on this computer".
i just don't get it. i downloaded the driver on the manufacturer's website. i made sure it was for the 64bit vista os. i even downloaded all the different country specific drivers and tried each one of them. i basically tried every driver, even the 32bit version just to make sure. still the same message. everything's new and working properly so i don't think it's a hardware issue. both hard drives are the exact same brand, type, & capacity. they are both recognized in the BIOS.
This is the third time now my mail has had problems. I am at the moment attempting to get Microsoft help but that seems to be taking forever. 2 times previous to this I have logged into my Windows Mail and found that they have had to retrieve all my mail folders as they got "lost" somehow. Now I log in yesterday morning to check on some e-mails that I have saved in a folder titled "Job Searches" and all of the e-mails in there are there in title only but have no content. Another folder same thing basically except that every e-mail content is the same. I'm baffled.

One works fine on both options. The other will not automatically retrieve emails every 5 minutes. It does retrieve when it is started or when manually receive emails is initiated. Every 5 minutes, I hear the tone that is set, but it will not retrieve the email.

I don't know exactly what happened, I probably mashed the touch pad. Anyway, now I can't find the files anymore. I've tried running a search but it has come to no avail. How do I find my files? View 9 Replies View RelatedWhile installing a program, the process was interrupted and the install created 62000 files using 160gig in my syswow64 folder virtually using all my hd space. However when you go into the syswow64 folder, there is only about 2000 files and 1 gig of space used. I have set the folders to show all hidden files. When I go into the ms dos prompt and do a directory, the files match the 1 gig data.
I can't delete these 62000 files and free up the 160 gig space because I don't believe they are actually there on the hard drive but explorer thinks they are there. Is there any way to rebuild, sync, or otherwise get windows explorer to recognize the correct amount of files that are actually in my syswow64 folder.(2000files 1gig and not 62000files 160gig)
I am running Vista Ultimate 32 bit. I have a folder on my desktop named Downloads that I use for, shockingly, downloads. Anyway, there are a couple of files in the folder that are, apparently, not really there. They are like ghost files. They used to exist but now they are still visible but not recognized by any program. Also, they have a size of 0 kb!
I'd like to get rid of them but they refuse to be deleted. When I try to delete them, I get this:

Miscellaneous sub-folders within folders have disappeared, while other sub-folders remain intact. At first I was completely lost, as the files were there not 30 minutes prior... After assuming the worst and thinking that they had corrupted or been deleted due to a virus, I:
- Made sure my folder options were set properly (I can view all hidden files)
- Thoroughly checked the recycle bin
- Did numerous searches
- Downloaded Google Desktop and searched some more
- Ran various "undelete" and "recovery" programs with no results
- Did a system restore...........
I bought a new computer for college recently and I cannot download limewire. Everytime I try I get an error message that says "....can't open input files because of splittet files." I have no idea how to circumvent this.

When I doubleclick on the exe file, instead of the application installing, what should happen but Word of all things opens with, in the case of one of them a box headed 'File Conversion - arw5setup.msi', and a similar wording in the second, asking me to select the encoding that makes my document readable. Whatever I select, the exe file then opens as a text file.
(The reference to an msi file is baffling as both files were exe files.) When it happened the first time I thought it was a corrupt file, but when it happened again it has to be that there is something wrong with my system. Is this a virus? Spybot has just come up with a clean slate ...
