May 12, 2008I scanned a newspaper article and attached it to an e-mail. The text was so large only half the article could be read. How do I shrink text size on a sent e-mail attachment?

Jan 17, 2010I have a need to send a large attachment to a colleague. What is the largest attachment size that Windows Mail can handle? Is it possible to send it in smaller parts which are combined at the other end?

May 6, 2008I'm running vista 64 home premium and I have noticed that on a number of windows games the hint windows are dispalying over large fonts so you cant read the entire hint. for example in freecell when you try to move a stack of cards thats too large the hint window is supposed to tell you how many cards you are able to move at that moment, but that part of the message is off the egde of the window. Ive noticed this with all the card games the mahjong game even the kids game Purble place. Ive tried adjusting the fonts dpi setting and even the advanced setting from personalizations.

Feb 27, 2009I have the exact problem as another member. I have Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit on a 15 inch Toshiba laptop my first computer ever. I changed the DPI screen resolution to the largest print since it was orginally too small to see and now cannot access the bottom of that screen to make any changes to reset it back small again. This enlargement of the screen also occurs on many of the control panel screens and all websites I visit. Spent hours trying everything possible all kinds of ways to fix this and very frustrated. Tried to enter through Classic Control Panel and Ease of Use suggestion to change it but no luck. Will read up on that safe mode idea. My 20 something computer neighbor was also baffled and tried to reboot but was unable to do this either hoping to reset it all back to the factory settings.

Capture You-tube Videos , Size Too Big For Attachment
Mar 30, 2009Windows Vista Home Premium, 32 bit, SP 1. Windows Live Mail. I am completely NEW in this particular subject, and I hope I can explain my problem intelligently enough. I am using Debut Video Capture Software, by NCH Software, to capture You Tube videos. That is not the problem. My problem is sending them out as attachments. Output formats available are : avi, asf, wmv, mpg, 3gp, mp4 or mov. So far, and I have not tried all formats , mp4 is the one with the smallest size, small enough to e-mail as attachment. But it has to be played in RealPlayer. My recipients have Windows Media Player, and wmv format is too big in size, about almost 10 times larger than mp4.

Jun 3, 2009My Windows dialog boxes are too small to display all the text they contain. And as we know, these verdammt boxes are not resizable. Up to now, this has been a minor annoyance, but now it's a major one: it's keeping me from completing the Vista x64 SP2 patch install.
As you can see in the attachments, the window text is just too big. It overflows the sides of the dialog. And because the SP2 EULA screen requires that you view all its text, and I can't, I never get an active "NEXT" button to proceed with the installation. Changing screen res does not help.
I've tried Personalize > Windows Color and Appearance > Open Classic Appearance Properties to reset the Window Text size, but the option to do this is grayed out. I've tried the registry hack found on this board to try and substitute a smaller font, but no go. I've tried several hackware proggies to try and force unresizeable windows to resize, but no joy there either. I've also tried Chris Pirillo's Vista Font Fix to no avail

Mar 23, 2008Using Windows mail 6.0.6000.16386 Before installing IE 9 Beta, the default size for reading my mail was "larger". Now it is "medium" and I have to change it manually to "larger" for every message I open. I want the default to always be "larger".

Now, that works "just fine"...but ONLY while a session of WM remains active! Indeed, as soon as WM is being shut down and relaunched, this previously altered setting (eg. to "Larger") will have reverted back to its initial default (ie. in my case it's "Medium")! Mar 23, 2008While browsing files and folders I've noticed something extreemly annoying. You can see the size of individual files in the Size column but you cant see the folder's contents size. This extreemly frustrating and I cant seem to find where I can enable that function. I know you can scroll your mouse over folders one at a time and a window will apear and you can see the size then, but thats just inconveniant for what Im doing. I need to be able to glance at multiple folder sizes constantly.

Unfortunately, the image file is now too large to fit on a single DVD. Does Windows Vista have a way to split files that could be burned to separate DVDs and later re-assembled if needed? May 5, 2010Desktop with Vista Home Premium 32-bit, 3MB RAM, dual HDs-RAID 1. Laptop with Vista Ultimate 64-bit, 4MB RAM. dual HDs, no RAID. LAN is based on Dlink DIR-655 giga-switch and draft-N wireless router. Both PCs have giga NICs. I treat the desktop as "Home Base." When I travel, I copy (manual drag-and-drop) my personal data to the laptop across the network. If I make changes while on the road, I copy teh data back to the desktop. I keep my personal data lots of folders in the Public Folder on each PC.
No problems until now, I have much more data on the desktop. One folder is 66GB. Within that folder I have sub folders of 16GB and 28GB. 65GB folder will not copy to the laptop. Copy message says "calculating" then disappears and nothing has been copied. I cannot copy the 16GB folder to another folder on the same HD. Why not? Is there an upper limit on size of folders/files that can be copied?

Feb 12, 2010I tried the backup & end up with 52 or 31 GB file to store, which is too large for CD/DVD or partitions on my HD. As an OAP external drive is expensive. Is this backup only for Companies?

May 26, 2008I'm trying to back up a large program to several discs. In XP this was not a problem. It prompted you for the next disc. However in Vista (I have the Home Edition,) I'm told the disc is too small and to either "retry" or "cancel." I can't believe it doesn't do what XP did...I've already saved the program to a removable hard drive but I'd like to back it up to disc anyway. Am I missing something in the control panel? Aug 25, 2008I came into the office this morning to find my computer (Toshiba Portege, M700) in a state that seemed to be hung up in the midst of a windows update reboot. So I waited for a while, and nothing happened. The last normal reboot seems to have taken place sometime prior to about 3am Central time Sunday morning, when a Windows update was done (so it seems from Event Viewer). After that time, there are a large number of DCOM errors - things like WSearch failing to start, etc. A half hour later, tired of waiting, I decided to hard reset. Once I did that, the machine has yet to come up to a running state outside of safe mode. Among the things (I didn't catalog each and every reboot, etc.) tried were reboots into normal mode with just about every non-essential piece of software disabled, uninstallation of Sophos antivirus and Adobe Acrobat Pro and other biggies, etc. Never did I get a "normal mode" reboot to work. I've also restored the system to several set points prior to the weekend, to no avail. I will post some event viewer text when I have the chance tomorrow, but I'm totally dead in the water. I'm posting this note just in case this happened to anyone else this weekend or at their last Windows Update.

Mar 23, 2008I use Vista Home Premium full install with 4 SATA hard drives. My data drive is a WD 750-gig. Disk Management sees 698.64gb with no unallocated space. It's an active partition on a basic disk. But when I open "computer" or an explore page, it sees the smaller value.
I've found solutions for xp/2000 that involve enabling 48-bit LBA, but I haven't seen anything on Vista. I don't recall being prompted for the SATA drivers during the load (F6) but I can't promise anything because it's been awhile.
